As mentioned, other really emotional songs by Sabaton: -En livstid i krig (live at Gothenburg, Subtitles ON) -No Bullets fly (animated version, a real tearjerker if any). And a few other songs! 😄
The big guy with the guitar is Tommy Johansson He have his own youtubechannel with a lot of amacing cowers and his own stuff He is also singersongwriter in his own band Majestica and also the guy behind a lot of Floors cowers His voice is ower the top with amacing range Please react to She,s gone Steelheart cower or the Light his own song he write when he was only 14 years old and recorded when he was 18 years old He is an genius
Happy to stumble into your reaction. As a Sabaton fan for a decade, it's always nice viewing ppl discover them. Anyway good reaction and thank you for letting the credits run.and being able to recognize the singer during the credits. Liked and subbed
The band are talking. "We need something special for the outro." Hans picks up the phone "Honey, what you doing? Need your help for a bit." My great grandfather lived long enough for me to know him. He was a major in the German army during WW1. He told us he gave orders to never fire on Christmas Day. He said "It was the only orders he never regretted." Even if he did get in trouble for it.
would love to see your reaction to Sabaton - En livs tid i krig (Live at Gothenburg with subtitles on) If you would like to hear a another very emotional song in their native tongue of swedish!
Part of the history on this: this was in the first year of the war. Before the Germans introduced poison gas, before the U-boats started unrestricted attacks on ships, before the Paris gun started shelling Paris, and before Zeppelins bombed London. Up to this point there could have been peace, but the war escalated and hatred was sowed.
I think that someone forgot to walk, hehe. Well Sabaton really has a way to make you emotional. Great reaction and I´m looking forward to many more. I fully concur with the comment asking for "En livstid i krig" love i Gothenburg and make sure you have captions on (hits so much harder then), Stay safe and all the best from Sweden.
so up next "The Last Stand" about the 1527 sacking of Rome and the stand of the Swiss Guard and don't forget to check out Sabaton History for this and all there others songs. always play a Sabaton song too the very end
IIRC, the piano part isn't "Oh Holy Night" but "Carol of the Bells" with minor chords (instead of the uplifting major ones). Great reaction, but don't be afraid to share a tear or two with us: getting emotional on this video is just proof you're human (and of a good kind, also.) 👋🇮🇹🖖
Yes, but not just minor (I believe COTB is already in a minor key). It’s an inversion of Carol of the Bells. Basically they took the melody and reversed it for the main theme.
The end credits (yes it is sung by Floor) are taken from the separate official orchestral version of this album called "The Symphony to End All Wars". Sabaton has released the last 2 albums, Great War (2019) & The War To End All Wars (2022), both are about ww1, as 3 different versions: 1st is the normal "just the metal songs". 2nd is the History Edition with a spoken intro for the topic before every song. 3rd is the Orchestral version. In that one, all the songs are re-imagined as orchestral pieces. There is no "Sabaton" in it. No Joakim singing or Pär, Tommy, Chris or Hannes playing their instruments. Instead they have violins, flutes, cellos etc., choirs, and in some songs Floor Jansen. The songs in this version don't really have words as such, the singing is more like it is in these end credits. Hannes is the blonde getting blown up and 1st out of the trench. For pronouncing Hannes the Swedish way, Joakim says it 3:03 and Pär says it 6:22. As for Joakim it's different from the spanish way. It's more like you-akim. For the "right way" you can see Joakim saying it himself here: Joakim Brodén | SABATON Answering The Most Asked Questions On The Internet th-cam.com/video/vc8svpfo5do/w-d-xo.html It's also quite nice, funny and informative thing to see anyway :) btw. This one might be also interesting for people: My Story As Metal Frontman #2: Joakim Brodén (Sabaton) th-cam.com/video/IMVs8gaD1Vk/w-d-xo.html
Welcome to Sabaton! They are great storytellers about war. They never take sides but it's always a great story. Have come to actually love them. Watch Bismarck, No Bullets Fly, etc.
You have a very nice reaction! Hannes is the drummer, and Floor was the singer at the end. Joakim mentioned that the tune came from "Carol of the Bells." I love to read the fans' posts, as I learn a lot there too. It seems that after the truce, many soldiers did NOT go back to fighting each other. There is a book, Silent Night, The Story of the WW1 Christmas Truce, by Stanley Weintraub. They aimed their guns into the air when they shot, so they wouldn't hit their new friends. I read that many of the Germans flatly refused to fire again on their friends. Of course, the royals who started the war, and who heard about things in their mansions while drinking champagne and eating caviar, the royals and their commanders didn't want the war to stop (though the soldiers who started fighting in August 1914 were told they would be home by Christmas). So the tragedy is that the soldiers were reassigned, or moved to the eastern front to fight the losing battle against Russia. There is some indication that some of them were shot for treason. I'm glad that you mentioned how inspiring the story and song is, to inspire people not to make the same mistakes, to find ways other than war. Too many people watch this video and remark that we will always have war. Well, I don't think that has to be true. Like Charles Dickens wrote in A Christmas Carol, keep Christmas every day. btw, Tommy Johansson's A Christmas Carol with his great band, Majestica, is a must for you to hear, if you haven't already:)
This one pulls at the heartstrings and the fact that the command on both sides didn't want this story to get out because they were afraid it would humanise the enemy and they would lose fighting spirit.
They were right. Industrialized killing can only happen when you see the enemy as 'the other', less than human. Kinda like what's happening now in the US. So many 'others' ...
This happened across the entire front, only a few units didn’t participate on the western front. The secrecy was for the civilians. Soldiers already knew the enemy was just a guy, not some propagandized monster. Civilians needed to keep believing the propaganda or else the War couldn’t keep going, which was important to those in charge at the time.
just love your perceptive comments and your humanity that comes through. his voice and the whole delivery/production is perfect for the job at hand . to ram our face into what we do to each other sometimes sometimes ,so we can't look away. riveting .it's like a primal scream coming out of him "LOOK WHAT WE'RE DOING TO EACH OTHER ;STOP FOR GODSAKE " THESE GUYS ARE ON A MISSION TO BRING SOME SANITY BY GETTING US TO LOOK AT WHAT WE DO. and from that get a lot more serious about finding a better way to sort our differences so for a start these soldiers ,who were trying to mind their own business don't get dragged into it .
As a fan of this group, there are somes songs to réact: - No bullet Fly (the best one with Bismarck), the official animation clip: th-cam.com/video/dslO-3GgenY/w-d-xo.html - Night Witches official animation clip : th-cam.com/video/5YPo8zDkvy4/w-d-xo.html ATTENTION, for No bullet fly and Night-Witches animated clips, there are 2 version. you definitly have to take the longest one to have the context therwise you will not understand the depth of the music - "Fields of Verdun" (official clip, very powerful, deep voice) -"Sparta !" Here, there is no clip, but Fanmade with the movie 300 did the job: th-cam.com/video/wYqvtNjdLHU/w-d-xo.html - "Shiroyama", the last stand of the Samurai. A fan made a very accurate video with the movie "the last samurai": th-cam.com/video/A-9_TUpYHbc/w-d-xo.html very accurate - "Rise of Evil", Hitler's rise to power: Again, no clip but a fan use somes extract from the movie "Rise of Evil" on the same event, so it's very very accurate to take his music vidéo: th-cam.com/video/-q120sJeisY/w-d-xo.html It's a very good selection with very good video clips which are the most in line with the lyrics when there is no official music video Peace !
As a French teacher I told the history of this event to my students on the 100th anniversary of this great truce. Such a powerful story. Life altering happening; so beautiful.
Welcome to the world of Sabaton. All their songs have a historical fact behind and they are masters in storytelling. I recomend you react to the Sabaton song "Soldiers of Heaven" next time. A sad story about the White War when forces from Austria-Hungary and Italy fought in the Alps. Many of these soldiers frooze to death or were buried by avalanches. Their bodies still lies there, preserved in snow and ice for more than 100 years now. Great reaction dude. Hello from Sweden, home of the Vikings, Sabaton and Floor Jansen 🙂🤘
An amazing piece of art!. Enjoyed your reaction. The music and video perfectly capture the brotherhood of arms that all of us who have served feel. Christmas carol that is riffed on in the beginning is Carol of the Bells. The soaring vocals at the end just gets me in the feels every time is not on the original studio recording but is from their
orchestral version of the song and is in fact Floor's beautiful voice (She is credited a little farther down in the end credits from the band members).
I was at Graspop when they performed this live for the first time.... The entire crowd put their hands around other and sqayed in unison. Epic beyond words
I love new people who find sabaton and realize that it's not just music, it's history, a story, keeping myths alive. I recommend En livstid i krig from the great tour, make sure to turn on subtitles because it's in Swedish. Also, they are doing a North American tour later this year, so they may still have tickets available.
Sabaton's Christmas Truce is my favourite Christmas song of all time and also it has other meanings for me. In WW1 where I come from in England we had our own Regiment, it was the Hertfordshire Regiment named after the county where I live. The 1st Battalion of the Hertfordshire Regiment was actually on No Man's land on Christmas 1914 with the German soldiers celebrating Christmas. The other thing is that the Rugby Union Club that I am a fan of is London Irish Rugby Union FC, who are named after a British Army Regiment called The London Irish Regiment who were also on No man's land on Christmas day 1914, they were the Regiment that had the football that was used in the famous football match between the British and the Germans. The actual football survived WW1 and is in the London Irish Regiment Museum and can be seen today. British Sabaton Fan 💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇮🇪🇮🇪🇸🇪🇳🇱💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦
People who sit through Sabaton credits are special. Best part about them is literally EVERYONE gets ther credit for their role in bringing important history back to us.
Every soldier who participated in that truce had infinitely more courage than the monstrous leadership that put them there. After the Christmas truce, the leadership on both sides swapped out personnel because their soldiers no longer wanted to fight their “enemies” in the other trench. Instead, they saw them as what they were: people just like them. That’s dangerous thinking.
When they recorded this song: Joakim: "It would be nice, having a female voice singing at the end"... Hannes: "Hey, hold my beer, and hand me your phone......"
Just subbed, love your reaction style. Mostly I appreciate that you're not afraid to talk over the video. I appreciate and understand why reactors pause, both to help avoid copyright issues and to express their thoughts - but I really love the way you just speak up when something hits you. When you just chime in it feels more like we're just two people hanging out watching a video together.
When you go into more NW I simply MUST tell you a bit about Kai Hahto, current drummer in Nightwish 🥰 He has a past in Wintersun, where he and the rest of the band too, are playing some BAAADAAAAAS METAL with a folky/ keltic sound, that simply is epic 🥰🥰🥰
Really great reaction...I would recommend a double of "82nd All The Way", first the original from Sabaton and than the "remake" from Amaranthe. Or one of their live performances like "Swedish Pagans - Live at Wacken Open Air 2019". Also when you want to learn more about the history, they have a history channel for their songs.
I was waiting for your reaction as you were spot on as to who was singing, then argh! just missed it! Right after the band members. Greetings from New Zealand. Keep on with the great reactions :)
would love to hear your reaction to "En livstid I krig " live from Göteborg Sweden, it is in Swedish but there are subtitles. it deals with the toll on the soldiers and their families. also the animated STORY video of either "no bullets fly" or "nightwitches" for another take on PTSD and other tragedies befalling soldiers returning from battle, even heroes, "To hell and back" also check out the Sabaton history channel, there they have a video corresponding to most songs with a history theme (well over 100) explaining the event/person... and how/why they made the song. Well worth a look (or in my case, more than once)
Look up the Sainsbury's Christmas advert/commercial if you haven't already, about the Christmas truce. Its a different vibe to this but the sentiment is still there.
Some other recommendations would be might witches cause it’s just a pure banger, attack of the dead men, seven pillars of wisdom and the animated version of no bullets fly. You’re getting a great mix of the faster and slower sabaton there. There’s also the history channel by sabaton that goes into the inspirations for the songs and it’s a great learning reasource
One thing that non-Swedish speakers are unused to is how we often put the stress on more than one of the syllables in a word or. That there is a stress on both the Yoh and Kim part. They often say "Yoh-a-KEEEEM", with a "long" stress at the end, rather than a short kim (like in the name Kim). It's often easier for them if they see the name split up. Like it's a double name. Like "Yoh a Kim". Then it tends to be easier for them to pronounce Kim the right way. In the name Hannes the stress is only on the HA-part like HA-ness, though. Pär is like the word "pair".
If you would like to know more about Sabaton and epessially Joakim and Hannes, there is a podcast called The Backlounge podcast by a Yuotuber called "Tank the Tech", where there is interview (more like a conversation) with Hannes and one with Joakim for a total lenght of 3 hours, it is really informative. And of course there is thier Sabaton history channel wehere they go into depth with the stories they use in their song (one episode per song of 10-20 minuters)
1:40 it's also because people up and down the chain of command can kill another human because "they're just doing their job" or "just following orders" If you want a great film about mankind's desire to be obedient to authority, check out Experimenter, the biopic on the life's work of Dr Stanley Milgram.
Up & down the front line agreements where made with the British,French and germans the British held a few different matches nobody kept score but one match a British priest kept score and he was the Referee the germans won 3-2 🙂 still a beautiful thing tho Also the soldiers who took part in this event both sides asked for transfers to different sectors because they exchanged their gifts and played football they couldn't kill there enemy after getting to know them so a lot put in transfers so they wouldn't see each other again.
I don't think they _asked_ to be put on different sectors... From what I've read, they simply were assigned to different parts of the front exactly because the generals were afraid that they would refuse to fire at the now humanized "enemies" (and many actually did refuse, or deliberately kept missing). In some cases, the German soldiers were even transferred to the Russian border as a punishment...
That's right. Floor Jansen from Nightwish is married to Hannes Van Dahl the drummer of Sabaton. They have a daughter named Freja born on March 15. 2017. There daughters name Freja is taken from the norse god Freyja = the god of love. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freyja
Tuvieron que mandar a todos los soldados, de ambos bandos, a otros sitios, porque disparaban al aire para no dar a quienes fueron sus hermanos por un día.
Swedish Metal rules! If you want more Swedish Metal i suggest you checks out Arch Enemy. They are an big Melodic Death metal band and they have an female growler/singer. Songs like Nemesis, The World is Yours and The Eagle Flies Alone are some good ones to start with 🙂
Hello Sebs, I just came across your channel. I saw the night witches from Sabaton first and this Christmas Truce video second from you. You guessed it was Flora but you got distracted and missed her name in the credits. Yes, she is married to the drummer. I don't know if you have Ghost Love Score from Nightwish, and you should also check out The greatest show on Earth.
the christmas tune ya hear joakim play actually be carol of the bells not silent night l also still canna believe they straight up murdered that poor piano
For all Student s they do a history studdy have to go to a sabaton concert . This is maby the best lesson . I gess you dint find the personal vorgotten Storys in a History book
A lot of the soldiers could not bring them self to actually fire at the other side after this, aiming to the side instead of hitting their target. The sad part is that the generals and leaders did not take kindly to this so some of the soldiers were sent to even worse battlefields as punishment.
Жалко ты не был на месте жителей Ирака! Так бы тебе это песня прям в сердце зашла! It's a pity you were not in the place of the inhabitants of Iraq! If only this song would go straight to your heart!
The blond guy in the blown up at the start and the 1st outta the trench is Hannes Van Dahl. YES its Floor singing over the credits
yeah cuz the drummer (Hannes the guy that jumped away from that grenade in the opening scene) is floors husband
This song always gives me chills, especially when the piano starts and when Floor sings the outro.
It’s a masterpiece!
As mentioned, other really emotional songs by Sabaton:
-En livstid i krig (live at Gothenburg, Subtitles ON)
-No Bullets fly (animated version, a real tearjerker if any).
And a few other songs! 😄
Nightwitches Animated Story video too
price of a mile
to hell and back
Christmas truce
uprising (very few survived, whole major city leveled more or less)
I was there in Gothenburg and i can only agree.
The big guy with the guitar is Tommy Johansson He have his own youtubechannel with a lot of amacing cowers and his own stuff He is also singersongwriter in his own band Majestica and also the guy behind a lot of Floors cowers

would love to see your reaction to Sabaton - En livs tid i krig (Live at Gothenburg with subtitles on) If you would like to hear a another very emotional song in their native tongue of swedish!
I concur
Part of the history on this: this was in the first year of the war. And another Swedish band you must check is, Avatar recommends the song Bloody Angel, live in Poland
It wasn't just a pause for a soccer game. The truce lasted in some places for over 2 months.
3:04 "Hannes! Come on!"
Yep, floor sung the ending credit vocals
so up next "The Last Stand" about the 1527 sacking of Rome and the stand of the Swiss Guard and don't forget to check out Sabaton History for this and all there others songs. always play a Sabaton song too the very end
Made me cry when I first heard this. Brilliant band
"No bullets fly" next? 😊
Joakim LITERALLY shouts "HANNES!"
Sebs: "Who is this guy?"
A fun fact, that cross at the end, that they show with the candle stands in Ypres Belgium to this day in honor of the truce in 1914
IIRC, the piano part isn't "Oh Holy Night" but "Carol of the Bells" with minor chords (instead of the uplifting major ones).
Great reaction, but don't be afraid to share a tear or two with us: getting emotional on this video is just proof you're human (and of a good kind, also.)
👋🇮🇹🖖
Yes, but not just minor (I believe COTB is already in a minor key). It’s an inversion of Carol of the Bells. Basically they took the melody and reversed it for the main theme.
Next one, En livstid I Krieg please.
Chills, I have tears every time I hear this.
The end credits (yes it is sung by Floor) are taken from the separate official orchestral version of this album called "The Symphony to End All Wars".
Sabaton has released the last 2 albums, Great War (2019) & The War To End All Wars (2022), both are about ww1, as 3 different versions:

The actual football survived WW1 and is in the London Irish Regiment Museum and can be seen today. British Sabaton Fan 💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇮🇪🇮🇪🇸🇪🇳🇱💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦
Great reaction .
This is the kind of a song that shows how valuable your soul is, the more you know, more you feel the more emotional you get🙏
People who sit through Sabaton credits are special. Best part about them is literally EVERYONE gets ther credit for their role in bringing important history back to us.
Hannes van Dale is the Drummer from Sabaton and Floors Husband
Every soldier who participated in that truce had infinitely more courage than the monstrous leadership that put them there. After the Christmas truce, the leadership on both sides swapped out personnel because their soldiers no longer wanted to fight their “enemies” in the other trench. Instead, they saw them as what they were: people just like them. That’s dangerous thinking.
When they recorded this song:
Joakim: "It would be nice, having a female voice singing at the end"...
When you go into more NW I simply MUST tell you a bit about Kai Hahto, current drummer in Nightwish 🥰
He has a past in Wintersun, where he and the rest of the band too, are playing some BAAADAAAAAS METAL with a folky/ keltic sound, that simply is epic 🥰🥰🥰
Really enjoy your reactions, blessings to you and your family.
The other Cry on screen test is "No Bullets Fly -Story Video"
I was waiting for your reaction as you were spot on as to who was singing, then argh! just missed it! Right after the band members. Greetings from New Zealand. Keep on with the great reactions :)
would love to hear your reaction to "En livstid I krig " live from Göteborg Sweden, it is in Swedish but there are subtitles. it deals with the toll on the soldiers and their families.
also the animated STORY video of either "no bullets fly" or "nightwitches"
for another take on PTSD and other tragedies befalling soldiers returning from battle, even heroes, "To hell and back"
also check out the Sabaton history channel, there they have a video corresponding to most songs with a history theme (well over 100) explaining the event/person... and how/why they made the song. Well worth a look (or in my case, more than once)
Credits are mandatory...
Look up the Sainsbury's Christmas advert/commercial if you haven't already, about the Christmas truce. Its a different vibe to this but the sentiment is still there.
Hello. Please react to sabaton no bullets fly animated story video. Greetings from Romania. Keep up the good work
agree, another great 1
God Blees all Vets.. wow what a great song...
Amazing Song, amazing Band, amazing Video and a awesome Floor. 🤘
Please check out / react to "No bullets fly". Its one of the best Videos from Sabaton ever! Please watch it! Greetings from Germany
I read somewhere the soldiers on both sides were replaced. When the fighting began either they wouldn't shoot or would shoot over their heads.
Amazing reaction! Subscribed, hope to see a no bullets fly animated story next! Sabaton is amazing you sure found a great one
If this song doesn't make you cry.
You have no soul!
Can you tell that film crew was used to big Hollywood productions? the video is just nuts, and the song itself is fantastic.
Joakim is pronounced like "you-a-kim".
Hannes something like "hann-ess".
Pär more or less like "par" in parents or the fruit pear.
I would probably go with Yoh--a-kim instead.
Sabaton sing of history 🤘😜🤘
If you would like to know more about Sabaton and epessially Joakim and Hannes, there is a podcast called The Backlounge podcast by a Yuotuber called "Tank the Tech", where there is interview (more like a conversation) with Hannes and one with Joakim for a total lenght of 3 hours, it is really informative. And of course there is thier Sabaton history channel wehere they go into depth with the stories they use in their song (one episode per song of 10-20 minuters)
1:40 it's also because people up and down the chain of command can kill another human because "they're just doing their job" or "just following orders"
If you want a great film about mankind's desire to be obedient to authority, check out Experimenter, the biopic on the life's work of Dr Stanley Milgram.
The cross at the end is actually a thing as a tribute to the truce
Up & down the front line agreements where made with the British,French and germans the British held a few different matches nobody kept score but one match a British priest kept score and he was the Referee the germans won 3-2 🙂 still a beautiful thing tho
Also the soldiers who took part in this event both sides asked for transfers to different sectors because they exchanged their gifts and played football they couldn't kill there enemy after getting to know them so a lot put in transfers so they wouldn't see each other again.
The sad part is that units were moved to other places because the higher ups realized the soldiers weren't shooting directly at each other.
Yes you should listen to En livstid i krig (Live at Gothenburg ) with lyrics on. That one is amazing!
Welcome to Sabaton Family
The woman that's singing at the end is Floor Jansen.
Joaquims voice is very similar to how Ivan Moody's and David Draimen's voice evokes those same emotions.
Joakim....🇸🇪
@@petterrix3144 my bad. Now i know. Thank you.
I mean the Personal Storys from the Soldiers there was in war in the History
This planet couldnt even hold the size of those first soldiers balls, who rose up for armistice.
The song that its reworked is the Carol of the Bells
Tuvieron que mandar a todos los soldados, de ambos bandos, a otros sitios, porque disparaban al aire para no dar a quienes fueron sus hermanos por un día.
And after this, the war went on for almost four more years, and the officers would not let something like this happen again
I recommend No bullets fly animated story version....
Genny = Generator operator :)
🤘🤘🤘

yes the singer at the end is floor jansen
3:00. & 5:14. That's Hannes Van Dahl.
I believe the carol that parts are inspired by The Carol Of The Bells
Poor Hannes already gettin it in the start scenes 😈😎
It's actually "Carol of the Bells" they are referencing.
This song talks about a real fact, occurred on December 1914.
A lot of the soldiers could not bring them self to actually fire at the other side after this, aiming to the side instead of hitting their target. The sad part is that the generals and leaders did not take kindly to this so some of the soldiers were sent to even worse battlefields as punishment.
We are all waiting for " en livstid I krig" now
Жалко ты не был на месте жителей Ирака! Так бы тебе это песня прям в сердце зашла!
It's a pity you were not in the place of the inhabitants of Iraq! If only this song would go straight to your heart!
If you watched the credits longer Floor was there.
Jup they sneaked Floor in there^^
