The Christmas Truce refer to an actual event that took place during World War I. Soldiers in the trenches stopped fighting on their own (actually against orders) and there are in fact photos of German and Brittish soldiers playing football. Anyway, Sabaton make songs about real historical events and pretty much all of their songs are awsome. 😁 One of my favourite is The Winged Hussars.

That cross still stands at the exact place it was erected in 1914 at the side of a nowadays field, not the original anymore, but a replica. The location is in the middle of what used to be the no man's land during the first battle of Ypres, it is located near Commines-Warneton (Belgium) not far from the French border, not one day passes without fresh flowers, or even footballs being placed at the base of the cross, remembrance counts! Welcome to heavy metal history! The band is Sabaton from Sweden! all but one of their albums is about war and history. (The Metalizer album was before they came up with the history idea) They do not pick sides or political ideals in any of their songs they just tell the story. Their most recent and their next album are all based on stories of WW1.
Which i'm glad they ditched the sound of Metalizer. Not my favorite album at all. The history idea fits these guys so damn well and I can't think of a bad history album.

This Christmas truce (a kind of pausing all fightings vor a while) really happened on December 24, 1914 on the western front in Belgium where Germany and Britains fighting against each Others. They are pausing fighting against their orders.
This is an amazing song I was only introduced to and wow it's an amazing song with an amazing story. I crank ot LOUD when I listen to it. The story I heard about this song is that the men in the trenhes wanted a cease fire for Christmas but the higher ups said no so they took it upon themselves to call a truce for Christmas and get together because they really are people even though they were on different sides. That's the gist of the story I heard. When Christmas was over they went back to their fight.
This is a great reaction! I love to listen to reactors who have sth interesting to say and show emotions , like you. Sabaton is worth it! They started in 1999 (22 years ago) in Falun, Sweden. The members of the group changed except Joachim and Par. You are from Belgium so I recommend you "Resist and Bite" - one of many their great songs :-) You'd promised more Sabton - I subscribed!
At this point the Great war was still a 'young' war. There were no gas attacks yet, no Zepplin's bombing London, no shelling of Paris, so the combatants didn't 'hate' each other yet. That changed as the war dragged on and atrocities were committed by all sides.
Welcome to history nerds rock... and watch how many folks come to see this reaction. Sabaton is very good at making near film quality videos, and their themes are always historical events, mainly related to war. As to the background of the music, they have a second channel named Sabaton History where they post the background of the songs. And the usual concerns reactors have about copywrite is not an issue with Sabaton, since about half their fans start by seeing one of these reactions. I have seen reactions just run the song with no pauses at all, and the only songs I ever saw get a strike were ones from events where the event owners make the claim.
The event predates the US entry into the war, and since Americans were not involved the US schools rarely talk about it, but it is a much better known event in most of the world. The war started in June 1914, and leaders on both sides had promised "we will be home by Christmas"... but the changes in technology changed that completely. In November, the Pope publicly asked both sides to respect a ceasefire "at least for the day of the Savior's birth" but generals on both sides ignored it. However, the troops on the ground had also seen the request, and since the war had not yet led to the deaths and destruction that would make WW1 famous, some parts of the lines did call for a truce locally. The best known is a section where an English speaking German hailed the British lines Christmas Eve "tomorrow is Christmas. If you no shoot, we no shoot. Nobody needs to die on Christmas". It did not happen universally, especially the French lines which had taken the greatest losses up to this point did not take part, but it happened enough that several commanders were demoted and transferred. By 1915, the loss of life had been too great for the sides to be able to set it aside like this. It has never happened again.
Great reaction!🤘 Sabaton's music is based upon military history, such as events and interesting persons. They don't take political sides, they only tell the story. I highly recommend their official music videos for "Bismarck", "Steel Commanders", "Defence of Moscow", "Seven pillars of wisdom" and "No bullets fly" (animated story video). Also check out theirl lyric videos for "Carolus Rex" and "Attack of the dead men". I'll get back to you with more suggestions😉 Greetings from Sweden!🤘🇸🇪
Thanks for the reaction, for some more sabaton. Bismark is a good start on sabaton, the video is as good as a movie. Others would be No bullets fly (animated story video), Night Witches (specifically the animated STORY video not just the music video), Fields of Verdun, and "SABATON - En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg)" this one is in swedish but has english subtitles. There are so many more this list could go on forever. Also if you ever want more info check out the youtube by them and a historian "Sabaton History" would love to see reactions of those!
1914 was the only time there was a christmas truce. Some soldiers faced court martials for fraternising with the enemy and loads of solders got rotated to other parts of the battlefield because they were hesitant to go to war with new friends. Sabaton is a Swedish band that writes and sings about Actual historic events, battles, moments of heroism and wars. They will be releasing their 10th studio album on March 4th 2022. Nice thing about them is that their video's never blocked so it's TH-cam safe. (except for some Wacken video's that gets blocked by Wacken) If you really want to go down the Sabaton rabbit-hole, I would recommend these: (These are all from the Sabaton Channel, and they never block videos so it's safe to use) [live at Woodstock 2012]: Ghost Division, 40:1 and Uprising [Great Tour Live Videos]: En Livstied I Krig (make sure to turn subtitles on), Red Baron, Swedish Pagans, Primo Victoria, Fields of Verdun, Devil Dogs & Angels Calling [Lyric videos]: Attack of the dead men, The Final Solution, In Flanders Fields, 82nd All the way, Sparta, Shiroyama, Cliffs Of Gallipolli and The lost betallion [Music Video's]: Bismarck, Steel Commanders, Defence of Moscow, Livgardet (make sure to turn subtitles on), Fields of Verdun, Rourke's Drift, Screaming Eagles, Uprising The Future Of Warfare (Building Blocks Video) & Seven Pillars of wisdom [Animated History Video's]: Night Witches and No Bullets Fly (not animated music video's, the animated history/story video's) [Covers]: Kingdom Come [Offical video] and I'm sure people told you but in case, Sabaton have another channel (Sabaton History Channel) where they do a deep dive into the history behind the songs with Indy Nidell.
Welcome to the Sabaton family! If I might suggest my favorite video of theirs is "No Bullets Fly" (the 8:50 long done w/Yarnhub) - even if you don't react to it, trust me, you'll love it. All of their stories are based on real stories - and Floor Jansen was the singer at the end of this video (she's the wife of the drummer - the blond guy you see in the beginning)
Many of the soldiers where punished courtmarshalled for this truce some stories say they stopped shooting while they celebrated Christmas the British soldiers heard the Germans singing xmas songs and decided to sing xmas songs as well then this one German soldier decided to communicate with the British and they too did the same and from there they played games etc throughout Christmas but there commanding officers found out and they had to return to fighting. But for a brief moment they where like brothers. War is so sad.
What an Amazing 🌟Christmas 🌟 song by SABATON. The lyrics and the Music inspire you. And the video Incredible. It's also a piece of history and You can learn a lot. It's also very..... Welcome down the rabbit hole of discovering Sabaton! Sabaton is a Swedish band, and they write songs based on true historical war events. They have a second channel, Sabaton history, where they tell the story and history behind their songs. I can highly recommend it, you will learn a lot! I also want to recommend you to make sure to watch their videos to the very end. I have seen reactors who have stopped a video before it was finished, and have most of the times missed something. Would be a shame if you did. I can give you a few songs from the top of my head to get you started: No bullets fly (animated story video), Night witches (animated story video), Bismarck, 82nd all the way, Uprising, Great War, Defense of Moscow, Steel commanders, Seven pillars of wisdom, and many many more... Welcome to the Sabaton family!
truce is wapenstilstand. there is actually a memorial that looks like the cross in the video which was put up on one of the battlefields. this happened at different places on the front in 1914. suggestions definitely include "the night witches", "Bismarck" , "fields of Verdun", " uprising" and " attack of the dead men" (also the radio tapok cover for that last one as the video and cover are amazing) l. ran into your channel last week and you sir have got yourself a new subscriber!
+ Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Perhaps its obvious, but the 2021 reference on the cross, is, in my viewpoint, perhaps that we should, in this crazy world and time we all live in right now, take Christmas, as a breathing point, where we all, regardless of our views on politics or religion, can just be friends as human beings, and forget about our differences!? Perhaps I'm overthinking this...
5:05 the band is Swedish, but the first subtitles to ever appear for this music video are in (Vietnamese, I presume?), which kind of explains how TH-cam helps adapt the content to broader audiences, most often via fanbase/community efforts.
Their music can be defined as power metal but with lyrics about war and historic events rather than fantasy lol Their videos are amazing, great production I'm still exploring them but really like their work already As others have suggested I think you'll really enjoy No Bullets Fly, the animated story video
If you want an awesome song with Sabaton I can heavily recommend En livstid i krig ( a lifetime of war) live from Gothenburg 2020, it is the Swedish version of the song so you might want to turn on the subtitles (even though they are kind of a hit and miss on some of the translations)
A replica of the cross was set up in Belgium in the 90s I think. But yeah, they buried their dead that were left in the open. Probably the more adjusted guys who let the younger ones play and trade items. There's work to be done even during a break.
Sabaton is from the city of Falun in Sweden.....They even have their own Metal festival there at the National skiing center every autumn (if not Corona)
Welcome to Sabaton. Worlds greates history teachers. For more info on the event, that this song is about, I suggest watching these two videos. - Sabaton Christmas Truce animated story video - WW1 Christmas Truce extra history #1 I would like to suggest Bismarck, Steel commanders, no bullets fly ANIMATED STORY, night witches ANIMATED STORY. But you cant go wrong. All there songs are great.
Welcome to the rabbit-hole into history with metal that is Sabaton. You are going to learn a lot as you follow the songs - even moreso if you also check out Sabaton's background-channel "Sabaton History" where they talk in detail about the events behind their songs. As for further suggestions: No Bullets Fly (animated story video), Night Witches (animated story video), Bismarck (official music video), Winged Hussars, Steel Commanders, Shiroyama, Blood of Bannockburn, and many, MANY more.. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do make sure you watch their music (and story) videos to the very end. Sabaton likes to add a few easter-eggs in there every so often.
So the Christmas truce was an interesting event in ww1 where the english and German soldiers created a one day truce and both sides played football (soccer) on the field, if i remember right the english won the match.
There were probably dozens of separate football matches, most of them were just guys kicking the ball, but at few places they managed to make improvised goalposts.
Tommy Johansson, the guy who played the solo have his own band Majestica Please react to The joy of christmas with Majestica It s epic And yes, he is the guy behind the music on Floors covers 🙂
theyre from Sweden, maybe im the 248765th who told you...but they do not care, they do songs all across histrory, to tell stories! no matter which side you are from!
Well truce is a "part" time peace! And welcome to Sabaton Rabbit hole 🦊 22 years of content and 100+ songs, most are history based songs. I allways reference Sabaton as a Metal Trubadur band of war history 🤟🇸🇪
This truce wasn't authorized by the military command on both sides in fact it was a spontaneous thing where the German soldiers took the initative. After the truce the soldiers didn't wanna keep fighting which is very understandable however it was anything but popular by the leaders and some even got executed for not following orders. The cross at the end refers to the real memorial cross in present Belgium where this took place christmas 1914. This video was shot in Czech Republic so most of the crew are locals from there.
I see that you're from Belgium, I highly recommend you check out their song resist and bite! It's about 40 Belgian soldiers in their last stand against the Germans!
"24. December 1914: Late on Christmas Eve, the British Expeditionary Force heard the German troops singing Christmas carols in the trenches opposite and saw lanterns and small Christmas trees along the trenches. Messages were shouted to each other between the trenches. The next day, British and German soldiers met and exchanged gifts, took photos and some even played soccer. It was a rare but magical moment of peace and harmony in the midst of one of the most gruesome events of the 20th century. " yes is Floor
You should do some background check before reaction. They are Swedish not German. The R:s are a part of the swedish language. Ask me I am a swede 😂 Cheers!
You'd think you'd have TH-cam Premium to avoid those ads. ;) Otherwise great reaction! I'm usually not one for reaction videos, especially as people like to over act to the point of lunacy, but this played on its own while driving down I-10 - thus I wound up listening to it anyway. Pleasantly surprised. Keep up the good work.
Thx Johnathan! Yeah indeed, I don't have youtube premium, I really try to limit monthly payments if I can. Glad you had a positive experience with my reaction!😊
Good to see that ads almost always show up at the perfect time to ruin the moment, and it isn't just in videos that I'm trying to watch.

Last stand for me, but winged hussars is up there as well ;)

This Christmas truce (a kind of pausing all fightings vor a while) really happened on December 24, 1914 on the western front in Belgium where Germany and Britains fighting against each Others. They are pausing fighting against their orders.
Def check out No Bullets Fly, The Last Stand, Lost Battalion, and Carlous Rex
This is an amazing song I was only introduced to and wow it's an amazing song with an amazing story. I crank ot LOUD when I listen to it. The story I heard about this song is that the men in the trenhes wanted a cease fire for Christmas but the higher ups said no so they took it upon themselves to call a truce for Christmas and get together because they really are people even though they were on different sides. That's the gist of the story I heard. When Christmas was over they went back to their fight.
anyway, great reaction dude! thanks so much!
That cross is based on a real one. It's located in Belgium. A quick Google search will give you some great pictures.
Sabaton ... Nightwish ... all good stuff ...
Sabaton - Attack of the dead men
Thats one of my favourites 😍
A good Sabaton start is ghost division live at Woodstock Poland 🇵🇱
Lovely Greetings from Aachen. Sabaton : If you want to headbang and learn History at the same Time!
SABATONNN !
I would love to see you check out more in due course... but this was a great first!
All happened all true , the cross is still in the fields of Ypres in France great great video
Well, Ypres is actually in Belgium but thx!😉
wooops i stand corrected , the country that has had the most wars on their land lol
carolus rex, carolean's prayer, winged hussars , no bullets fly , Enjoy.
(except for some Wacken video's that gets blocked by Wacken)
If you really want to go down the Sabaton rabbit-hole, I would recommend these:
(These are all from the Sabaton Channel, and they never block videos so it's safe to use)
[live at Woodstock 2012]: Ghost Division, 40:1 and Uprising
[Great Tour Live Videos]: En Livstied I Krig (make sure to turn subtitles on), Red Baron, Swedish Pagans, Primo Victoria, Fields of Verdun, Devil Dogs & Angels Calling
[Lyric videos]: Attack of the dead men, The Final Solution, In Flanders Fields, 82nd All the way, Sparta, Shiroyama, Cliffs Of Gallipolli and The lost betallion
[Music Video's]: Bismarck, Steel Commanders, Defence of Moscow, Livgardet (make sure to turn subtitles on), Fields of Verdun, Rourke's Drift, Screaming Eagles, Uprising The Future Of Warfare (Building Blocks Video) & Seven Pillars of wisdom
[Animated History Video's]: Night Witches and No Bullets Fly (not animated music video's, the animated history/story video's)
[Covers]: Kingdom Come [Offical video]
and I'm sure people told you but in case, Sabaton have another channel (Sabaton History Channel) where they do a deep dive into the history behind the songs with Indy Nidell.
Good reaction....I suggest 'En livstid i krig' live in Gutenburg...2021-02-14...🇸🇪🇸🇪
Welcome to "The Sabaton Effect"
the channel Extra Credits has a wonderful series of videos detailing the Christmas Truce, how it happened and why it was unique.
Merry Christmas, vrolijk kerstfeest, Frohe Weihnachten!

For this songs history part: th-cam.com/video/LJq64dF5ZfQ/w-d-xo.html
truce is wapenstilstand. there is actually a memorial that looks like the cross in the video which was put up on one of the battlefields. this happened at different places on the front in 1914.
suggestions definitely include "the night witches", "Bismarck" , "fields of Verdun", " uprising" and " attack of the dead men" (also the radio tapok cover for that last one as the video and cover are amazing) l.
ran into your channel last week and you sir have got yourself a new subscriber!
+ Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Amen 🙏!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The man in Luke 16:24 cries: ". . .I am tormented in this FLAME."
In Matthew 13:42, Jesus says: "And shall cast them into a FURNACE OF FIRE: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."
In Matthew 25:41, Jesus says: "Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting FIRE,. . ."
Revelation 20:15 says, " And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the LAKE OF FIRE." And please repent of all of your sins and be baptized by the Holy Spirit before it is too late, you will never know when the time will come 🙏!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amen 🙏!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Their music can be defined as power metal but with lyrics about war and historic events rather than fantasy lol
Their videos are amazing, great production
I'm still exploring them but really like their work already
As others have suggested I think you'll really enjoy No Bullets Fly, the animated story video
Welcome in Sabaton Army
Thx! Definitely happy to be part of you guys!
If you want an awesome song with Sabaton I can heavily recommend En livstid i krig ( a lifetime of war) live from Gothenburg 2020, it is the Swedish version of the song so you might want to turn on the subtitles (even though they are kind of a hit and miss on some of the translations)
You get more information from Sabaton's animated story video for this song.
Guess Sabaton will end up in the workout playlist haha!
Good chance for that indeed🤪
"Bismarck" "Defence of Moscow" En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg, ¨Livgardet¨ and Kingdom Come. See this videos.
Go Sabaton, Go Floor!!!!!!!
Welcome to Sabaton.
Worlds greates history teachers.
For more info on the event, that this song is about, I suggest watching these two videos.
- Sabaton Christmas Truce animated story video
- WW1 Christmas Truce extra history #1
I would like to suggest Bismarck, Steel commanders, no bullets fly ANIMATED STORY, night witches ANIMATED STORY.
But you cant go wrong. All there songs are great.
New song- Soldier of heaven :)
I indeed think about doing that one next!😁
Sabaton recommendations: No Bullets Fly animated story video, 40-1, Price of a Mile, and Bismarck to start.
Check out "No bullets fly"
So the Christmas truce was an interesting event in ww1 where the english and German soldiers created a one day truce and both sides played football (soccer) on the field, if i remember right the english won the match.
There were probably dozens of separate football matches, most of them were just guys kicking the ball, but at few places they managed to make improvised goalposts.
Tommy Johansson, the guy who played the solo have his own band Majestica Please react to The joy of christmas with Majestica It s epic
And yes, he is the guy behind the music on Floors covers 🙂
theyre from Sweden, maybe im the 248765th who told you...but they do not care, they do songs all across histrory, to tell stories! no matter which side you are from!
Pls react to their songs Shiroyama, Attack of the dead men, and A GHost in the trenches. They are my favorite Sabaton songs!
Nice reaction.
Well truce is a "part" time peace! And welcome to Sabaton Rabbit hole 🦊 22 years of content and 100+ songs, most are history based songs. I allways reference Sabaton as a Metal Trubadur band of war history 🤟🇸🇪
The cross is still there in a field in Ypres Belgium
Suggestion: No bullets fly and Bismarck are great too .
This song is about Christmas Truce in Ypres ( France) at 24/12/1914 (I World War)
I wouldn’t have been first outta the trench. Nope. No way in hell. I bet the piano regrets leaving. RIP Wagner piano.
Just because, u should listen to Sabaton The Royal Guard... and they are Swedish, btw, if their names didn't give that away lol
Welcome to history 101. Next one should be...any of them. They are all great if you enjoy learning war history.
I see that you're from Belgium, I highly recommend you check out their song resist and bite! It's about 40 Belgian soldiers in their last stand against the Germans!
And Race To The Sea - music video for which has another inventive way to damage instruments!
Bra reaktion, om du orkar så gör en reaktion på Sabaton en livstid i krig live i Göteborg
. Sätt på svenska sub. Gott nytt år kompis
yes is Floor
You should do some background check before reaction. They are Swedish not German. The R:s are a part of the swedish language. Ask me I am a swede 😂 Cheers!
Its`a Swedish band
Sabaton music videos no jokes.. the take their music videos seriously..
Next watch official video Sabaton- Bismarck
Go and see the animated story video of this video and you Will learn more🤘👍
You'd think you'd have TH-cam Premium to avoid those ads. ;) Otherwise great reaction!
It is not a grave. It is a cross soldiers put there in 1914
Swedish band
You are kinda lost aren't you ? :D
oh why don't the younger generation read history?!!!!, the cross is still on the battlefield!!
