Cool to see the diversity in your list, especially the mix of more modern metalcore and the more "old-school" and traditional stuff. Where do you find all these artists?
Honestly combination of constantly staying up to date with labels, promo emails, Bandcamp, discover weekly, etc! :] but i definitely miss out on a ton haha
So happy to see SYSC at number one, they don't get nearly enough attention for how absolutely incredible they are. Whenever a song from their discography comes on I always have to put more of their songs in the queue because I just cannot get enough
I'm SYSC's biggest fucking fan LMAO I'm such a nerd where they're concerned. they've honestly helped me in so many ways, even outside of the talent and incredible songwriting they have.

Glad to see It Beckons Us All on this list, I feel like that one was underrated, I agree. I like when Darkthrone experiments, even if every album doesn't hit me 100%. This one I really enjoyed! It was almost my album of the year, but 1349's The Wolf and the King overtook it, that one I couldn't take out of my system since its drop in October.
Interesting list that I must confess to knowing very few of, but always enjoy the content on the channel, and wishing you an enjoyable break. No metal on this list, but since you asked. ;) 1 . The Broken View - Ordinary Love 2 . At 1980 - Forget To Remember 3 - The Strike - A Dream Through Open Eyes 4 - Your Broken Hero - The End? 5 - Grand - Second To None 6 - Dance With the Dead - Dark Matter 7 - Rain City Drive - Things Are Different Now 8 . Issa - Another World 9 . Palace - Reckless Heart 10 . Oz Hawe Petersson's Rendezvous - Oz Hawe Petersson's Rendezvous 11 . Crazy Lixx - Two Shots At Glory 12 - Lazer Club - A Summer Story 13 - One Morning Left - Neon Inferno 14 . Out of Vision - Deceiving Lights 15 - Fame on Fire - The Death Card And LeBrock''s 'HOPE' EP must be noted, even as an EP.
my favourite metal albums this year are absolute elsewhere - blood incantation, you wont go before youre supposed to - knocked loose, the last will and testament - opeth :) (also just my top 3 albums of the year in general lol, but i love alot of non metal albums from this year too, such as the new gybe album, the new billie eilish album, the new glass beach album and many more)

Metal was just a small fraction of music I listened to, but I really enjoyed the new Blood Incantation LP. Also Living Is Easy EP by Agriculture is really exciting. Also Agriculture gig was really awesome. Speaking of metal concerts I enjoyed this year, Alcest were great too.
Definitely agree with you on Zombieshark and Knocked Loose's records. Aside from that though, most of the stuff I listened to was definitely hardcore leaning. If I were to name my top 15 in no particular order that at least have a metal tag though: Chat Pile - Cool Word Ulcerate - Cutting the Throat of God Frail Body - Artificial Bouquet Doodseskader - Year Two envy - Eunoia Chikoi the Maid - Victim Hamferð - Men Guðs Hond Er Sterk meth. - SHAME Hoplites - Παραμαινομένη The God Awful Truth - All That Dark & All That Cold Underneath - From the Gut of Gaia (It Exists Between Us is also a great record from them) Oshiner - Thalassophobia BRAT - Social Grace Infant Island - Obsidian Wreath Consvmer - Seelenfrieden (though, I still prefer their debut)

This year I found out that I like job for a cowboy, especially moon healer and sun eater! But for metal this year I went back to Thou's umbilical the most! And then for something non-metal shoutout to nothing.nowhere for releasing 4 albums this year and all of it was great!
Here’s my list of my top albums this year in no patricular order because I unfortunately haven’t had enough time for music this year to do so. Complete agree on You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To, such a great Hardcore record that does pay it’s dues to experimentation, both generally in terms of expanding upon Knocked Loose’s formula, but also in terms of actually doing some weird shit, especially on Take Me Home. I do however think it is outshone by: Heriot - Devoured by the Mouth of Hell. Somehow grimier and dumber than You Won’t Go, in my opinion. A lot of variety and experimentation within a sort of atmospheric and revitalized take on old-school metallic hardcore. My only real gripe with it is that the single Demure, which is definitely in contention for my TOTY, is not included on the album. I also really liked Melodies of Atonement by Leprous. It’s a slightly controversial record for some because it is incredibly Einar-centric, but the songwriting stands in my opinion if you accept it on those terms, which I do because I love Einars voice. The way the songs have these crescendoing structures built around some truly fantastic melodies, and the fact that the instrumentals are really good as foundational elements for the topline if you can remove yourself from focusing on the vocals makes me unable to stop listening. I also really loved Hamferð - Men Guðs hond er sterk, I discovered them this year with this album about a month after it came out, and I have not stopped listening. Unfortunately this year and the last have felt like they lacked albums with “The Ancient Nordic Quality” as I’ve dubbed a very specific experience of glorious eldritch fear-sorrow that, among other things, Vildhjarta imparts upon me, and I’ve only really found in music from the Nordic countries. But this Hamferð album has it in spade after beautiful spade, and I might name Marrusorg specifically my track of the year. Every single member of the band absolutely shines, but the vocals are just unearthly in both their beauty and their brutality at exactly the right moments. The Nothing That Is by Fit For An Autopsy also absolutely slaps as the definitively best Deathcore album of the year, standing out in the fact that it has, and this will blow your socks off, actual riffs. And not just riffs, but really fucking good riffs that are included in quality songwriting over excellent percussion, all topped off with Joe Bads best vocal performance and lyrics to date. I might also be biased because Fit For An Autopsy delivered the best headlining show I saw this year, but it is simply a record that does not stop hitting for me. Finally Boundaries - Death is Little More is just a beautiful album, I somehow feel the nostalgia despite not having been in the scene at the time of the early to mid 00’s core paid homage to , but without feeling like it is just a nostalgia wank record. The breakdowns are chunky, the poetry is beautiful and bittersweet, the riffs feel amazing to hear and to play and the vocals are brutal as hell. Love this one. I’ll have to check out SeeYouSpaceCowboy tho, I’m very excited by your rundown.
My favorite metal albums of the year (in no particular order) are: Hot Singles in your Area by Scene Queen Sons of Destruction by The Native Howl Vended by Vended Servitude by The Black Dahlia Murder You Won't Go Before your Supposed to by Knocked Loose
Yeah haha that's why I mentioned in the video I know quite a few people didn't particularly like it. I enjoyed it quite a lot, though! That Blood Incantantion record was sick. Definitely a great comeback. :]
My 10 10 Spectral Wound - Songs of Blood and Mire 9 Spectral Voice - Sparagmos 8 Merrimack - Of Grace and Gravity 7 Konigreichssaal - Psalmen'O'Delirium 6 Akhlys - House of the Black Geminus 5 Thy Catafalque - XII: A Gyönyörű Álmok Ezután Jönnek 4 Mitochondrion - Vitriseptome 3 Schammasch - The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean 2 Ulcerate - Cutting the Throat of God 1 Ingurgitating Oblivion - The Ontology of Nought
Every time I look at the "Best of 2024 Heavy Metal" video - I see completley different lists... That is VERY confusing for those who look for decade-defyning Heavy Metal masterpieces. Also no LABYRINTHOS STELLARIUM? Boo-ooo-ooo 😁

I do however think it is outshone by:
Heriot - Devoured by the Mouth of Hell.

Blood Incantation Absolute Elsewhere is my album of the year but why Darkthrone that album wasn't that good
Yeah haha that's why I mentioned in the video I know quite a few people didn't particularly like it. I enjoyed it quite a lot, though! That Blood Incantantion record was sick. Definitely a great comeback. :]

If you want some recent Black Metal from Ukraine try "svrm". Just listened to their discography yesterday amd I am in awe
Lot of obscure stuff as always on your list. Tribulation was my AOY
Merry Christmas Everyone! Happy Holidays
