    I personally work with FastRawViewer, which I think is a little bit better. It follows the same workflow as yours but it has bonus features and you can bind keys. For example, I can go into full screen with my images and have my right hand on the arrow buttons and my left hand on Z X C S, etc. The cool thing is that if I press Z it zooms into the image to 1:1 so that I can see if the focus is spot on. The X I mapped to "Give 1 star rating" and the C to "Clear rating". The S applies sharpening only to your screen so that you can see what would happen when you apply it in lightroom (if you can save a poorly focused image). There are also other features like contrast, focus peaking and highlight/shadow view (so you can see when you are clipping) that you can bind to Q, E or whatever. In the end it still has that same "select all 1 star photos" and "copy to new folder" option, but I think the extra options and the ability to use only my keyboard while in full screen is what helps me the most. I hope this was helpful for you too.
    (also Tab for more info and G for Grid view (similar to your Thumbnail view if you don't want full screen))

      I use Fast Raw Viewer as well. I just map Command+Del to move the files to a _Rejected sub-folder to cull out the files I don't want. It works very well, though I do find the preview is VERY flat, and even the sharpened view is extremely soft compared to what I get out of DxO Optics Pro.

      You can do that with this app as well. You can bind keys. Like example my tag is "T" and bulk rename is "cTRL-B"...etc I changed all that

    works nice for a simple workflow. check images, rate them with stars and filter them out and move the files to a new folder. i changed the shortcut from ctrl+1 to just 1 like lightroom so now it is like lightroom 1-5 stars :D

    Does this load all the sub folders within the files that you selected or do you still have to individually click on every single folder on the left for it to load?
    Our can you just click on the Drive that all the folders are in and have it auto populate the images without clicking into each sub folder?

    Hello! Could you help to configurate the contact sheet? I need it to show more than 5 lines in caption and also I need to export multiple sheets to just one PDF doc (I mean all the photos inside a file the program divides them in several sheets. How to merge into one PDF?). I use windows. Tks

    This has nothing to do with the contents of this video whatsoever. But I just got my Rode NT USB Mic in the mail from Amazon (links in my description lol) and your videos (and a few other reviews) heavily influenced me to get one over the Yetti.
    Thanks!

    But XnView does write ratings to metadata, you just need to directly tell him in the settings (option is called something like ‘Write to XMP files’) to do so

    does this program have issues reading raw images from sony or new cameras that are released? or does it you camera raws update to read.

    • @that1cameraguy

      I did not have issues with the Sony a9. It might be using camera raw updates.

    Why not use Adobe Bridge?

    • @that1cameraguy
      @that1cameraguy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      When you have several thousand images, Adobe Bridge does not load thumbnails as fast as these types of programs.

  • @austingordon7061
    @austingordon7061 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just downloaded it, I like it and I changed my thumbnail settings to be like yours but the thumbnails aren't sharp. Very blurry, any ideas why?

  • @tanwk123
    @tanwk123 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    But this software can it open the thumbnails and zoom in to see are the photos sharp or not?
    like what photo mechanic provided us?

    • @that1cameraguy
      @that1cameraguy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can double click the image and it opens up the image in the program and you can do a 1:1 view.

    • @that1cameraguy

      I'm not quite sure I follow. Do you mean to use Capture One instead of Lightroom?

    • @simonplmondon1234
      @simonplmondon1234 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      that1cameraguy yes but I need too try it. I don't use any Adobe products because I don't want to pay a monthly fee and Capture one is faster I have tried lightroom on friend computer but I feel that Capture one load RAW files than lightroom

    • @that1cameraguy
      @that1cameraguy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is built into Canon cameras with the rate button. It's the only way to live as a sports photographer and immediately what I didn't see on the A9.

    • @that1cameraguy
      @that1cameraguy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kevin DiOssi yup, I brought that up with Pro Support. You can't set a custom button to rate or protect the image

    • @cdmurray23
      @cdmurray23 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually if you are playing your images on the a9 go into menu-page 2-protect, select multiple image, then as you review all you have to do hit the center select button (inside the wheel) and then menu and protect when done.... painless for me. Really no need for a custom button since once you are in that mode, it's just the center button,.

    • @that1cameraguy
      @that1cameraguy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's honestly and extra step I'd rather not have to do out on the field. I do use this occasionally, but its not as quick and easy as having a dedicated button.

    Adobe Bridge does this better. Just hit Ctrl+(#1-5) to rate an image and with the filmstrip view it will show you a large preview of each image with a timeline on the bottom. You can also use it to edit pictures in Camera Raw and it directly integrates with other Adobe applications like InDesign and Photoshop. Bridge also saves edits without overwriting the original photo which is really useful. You should check it out!

    • @that1cameraguy
      @that1cameraguy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was aware of this, but Adobe Bridge tends to be a bit slower when it comes to processing thumbnails. I just tried it right now, so unless I'm not optimizing the thumbnails have a noticeable lag before they are loaded. Programs like Photo Mechanic and XnView do a good job of getting those thumbnails processed fast for selection.

    • @beauxbrasseur
      @beauxbrasseur 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To my knowledge, though, Adobe bridge does not allow you to view all of the photos inside a Drive sub folders without individually clicking into the sub folders themselves. This means if you have thousands of different SD cards, you have to click into every single subfolder in order for it to load.
      From what I can gather, XNview loads, the thumbnails from the sub folders without actually clicking into them. You can stay click on the main hard drive without clicking into any sub folders, and it loads all of them.
