Base running was horrible. Wasn't it in the 1st when Acuna stole second and bad throw got into center. With the shift, third baseman was covering. If he had popped up and headed for third, no way they could have gotten him. Instead, he was too concerned about getting up and celebrating. He should have known the situation before he even left first.

The fucking delay is killer - I’ll start towards second, then try to go back to first, then watch the ball get bobbled, and by the time the runner actually starts to second again they wind up thrown out
in a big game like this it can happen because 1 run lead may not be enough so they tried to extend the lead no matter what it took. Too bad it wasn't a good decision by not just one Braves, but two. Like the jomboy said, they should have waited, almost like tagging for a sac fly, and then either stay or run.
Corey Seager said in an interview that he didn't even need to yell at Turner to throw to third because he had complete awareness of Riley. The reactions and awareness of Turner to get the throw out without even yells from teammates is just Spider-Man stuff.
Muncy is superrrr heads up. He covered home and told JT to throw to third. I finally found it in this breakdown. There are a couple small details here that need some light shined on them. First, the rule of thumb as the runner on third is your lead should be as far as the distance the third baseman is from the bag. Using this basic concept why was Swanson taking a 15 ft lead with turner 40 feet from the bag. The play at the plate would’ve been a lot closer if Swanson had the correct lead in that situation. Secondly, everyone knows Riley was a moron in that situation not breaking for third as soon as turner threw home, but an important thing here is that Markekis could’ve probably made it to second base even with the blunder. This play and Betts’ homerun robbery were the difference in the game. Base running is becoming a lost art in baseball and it makes a big difference in a game, so why base running is getting worse in baseball is beyond me.

I’m sure turner had the presence of mind to pop up and check the other runner, but to pop up ready to throw to third and make that play has to be credited to his teammates that were vocalizing where the play was.
That calf-tag reminds me of the would-be triple play the Blue Jays pulled off in the World Series back in the day. It was called a double play, but Kelly Gruber clearly tagged the runner for the 3rd out. I'd love to see a breakdown of that.
Brings back memories of the Devon White/Kelly Grueber triple play in the 92 World Series unfortunately ruined by a blown call. They won the series anyways but what a play
I love the Braves. I was rooting for them all year, but the WS is for champions, and they didn’t play like champions here. The Dodgers were the better team and I hope they go on to win the series.
I was watching a game this year where the team very nearly turned a DP similar to this one. I think it was a Yankees game if anyone remembers but if I remember it correctly, they tagged the lead runner out close to third and almost got the trail runner headed to third like they did here.
Turner's ultra quick spinover throw to 3rd is amazing. That is crazy. Talk about an athlete. The Braves guy on 2nd base didn't need to go to 3rd. He would have made it back to 2nd just fine. And he still would have been in scoring position with 1 out.
