I recently made a build with a 6950xt and a 7700x. Boy this 7800xt really is a great fricken deal. AMD did a good job pricing this thing. I kinda wish I got one but at the same time it was a difference of $80 for me at the time. This will be my recommended GPU currently for anyone looking to make a $1000-$1200 1440p high refresh rate build.
@@leeroyjenkins2814Deepcool AK500. I’d probably get the peerless assassin 120 ARGB instead though because I’ve seen it perform better than my AK500 in tests online. My CPU idles around 40-45 Celsius and when I game it gets anywhere between 60-85 degrees Celsius which is hot but it never throttles or causes any stutters while that hot.
Hilarious thing is - it's priced at $500. SAME PRICE as the dogshit 4060Ti 16GB! Yet it doesn't only DESTROY that Nvidia trash by 50-70%, it also DESTROYS the 4070 while costing almost 15% less!

However, choosing a video card, focusing on the games that you like the most, is the right approach. And it worked for the entire period of the confrontation between Nvidia and AMD, there was always such a thing that in some of the games one of the brands lost, and the second won. I remind you that already in more than 40 games there is a working nvidia FG (DLSS3) that leaves AMD far behind, and FSR 3 has to wait for now
Someone's probably said this already, but for Forza Horizon 5, a much more stressful area to "benchmark" the game is the forest/jungle area and the mountain. Another way you can absolutely force just about any GPU to its knees is to do either the big cross country or big rally races on a torrential rain storm.
recently made leap up to 1440p.. and i knew i was going to get a new GPU, upgrading from a 3060ti too a 7800XT No regrets. Sure the amd 5700x processor might not be the modern standard but its perfect for what im doing
It’s good but the AMD Ryzen 5 7500F is almost at the same price lvl with 15-20% better Performance. I’m also planning to build a new pc and I definitely go with the 5 7500F. If you want in a few years a gpu upgrade you should choose the newer one. ;)
It does affect the experience if you usually play open world games like Star War, Spiderman etc, but for competitive games like CS2, Valorant or Dota you won't even notice the graphics in 720p to be honest
@@carlz3955 lmfao what. there is def a huge difference in gaming experience with resolution changes. Esp if you've played at higher resolution (2k an 4k), I find it extremely hard to adjust back to 1080p. I can now only game at atleast 2k. 1080p and 720p look so bad in comparison now.

i would say just stick with 1080 p monitor with high quality monitor over alĺ there is noit much difference on 2k than full hd with max setings and you got stable fps in high refresh rate

And between 1080p and 1440p is the difference much more noticable. 109ppi vs 82ppi is completly different than 565ppi vs 424ppi. And also pricing ofc im paying 40€ more and getting 1440p instead of 1080p, with a better IPS panel.

I used to think that I really want good Ray Tracing performance from any future card of mine. But what I was really thinking and didn't know was that I really want good path ray tracing performance. No FSR or DLSS. For some reason it took a long while to connect, but at this point the only one which can do it at lower resolutions is the RTX 4090. So with that out of the picture, I don't care about ray tracing performance till we get mid tier cards which can easily do that. So at the earliest it's going to be the next generation, if that. With that in mind, this card is looking really good and a must buy if not for the extra even 100Watts from its main competitor from Nvidia which yes is more expensive, but runs with much less power too which is important as I do not live in the USA or another country with very cheap electricity. Then I remembered I am poor AF and I use an almost decade old PC, so STFU.
The rx 7800 xt actually delivers nice fps raytracing on 1440p Everyone says raytracing = Nvidia but this card actually delivers 30-90 depending on game.
Either you have your fans running at max speed or the manufacture really did a good job cooling that thing. Because those temp you are showing right there even at 4K that's like idle, that's like doing nothing.

Thats one or two games, when 6800xt push more fps, but other one - two games running better with 7800xt. Doesnt matter… and of course this card is New and driver opimization can still help.
What is the tool used for monitoring? I currently use the Xbox game bar overlay but it doesn’t show temperatures. Don’t like the AMD software overlay either. Any other recommendations?
I just got a 7900 xt paired with a R7 5800x but when I play MSFS I’m bottled at 30-40 fps I’m not sure if I installed it properly or not or the cpu is too old

heya i recently bought a rx 7800xt hellhound but it is extremely loud even tho the fans are 900-1200 rpm at all times under load capping it to 60 fps makes it quiet but i didnt buy it for 60 fps 1440p
This guy has 13900K, that's why his card was getting used 100% in 1080P If you have weak CPU in lower resolutions, then you're expected to get more bottleneck & your GPU will not get used 100%
Starfield is a good game. With my 7950X3D RTX 4070Ti 16GB 6000Mhz DDR5 CL36 RAM and 2K monitor, everything is on ultra, FSR2 on, VSR is on, I can play very comfortably with 65-75 fps in open areas and 95-110 fps in closed areas.
Bro this card handles 4K pretty well. And for me i will be playing these games on 4K most times unless there’s a lot of stutter/bad frames so I’ll go 1440 but it seems like it handles it great
Stock RTX 4070 consumes ~200w in gaming loads, while the stock RX 7800XT goes at ~250w, and in video playback (useful to look at since we spend a lot of PC time on youtube and playing video files) the 7800XT consumes ~25w more (20w vs 45w). Of course it depends on how everyone uses their computer, but if video playback and gaming is how one usually spends time on their PCs, then the 7800 XT on average would consume ~30-40w more than the RTX 4070. In this context the electricity cost can add up in time, but then again the 7800 XT is ~50-100$/EUR cheaper so it no longer matters. Then you are left with some extra heat dumped in the room, but better performance than the RTX 4070 and in theory longevity (even though I am personally not convinced by 12GB not being enough in 3 years time). Both cards are great, there is no real wrong purchasing choice, it depends on what the consumer prioritises.

Honest question, I have a RX 6700 10gb and when I bought it was roughly $300. I was considering upgrading, most games run very smooth at 1440p max settings usually 70fps or so. Games like starfield however run around 50fps, I don't know if its worth switching to a 16gb card if the performance isn't much better. Currently the 7800 XT is $519 new lowest I can find from XFX, I would want to keep my old card so I would have to pay completely out of pocket for a new one. Anyone on here in a similar situation with a 10gb/12gb card and switched? anything wonderful happen (leprechaun with a pot of gold, ect)?
i got my kid the steel legend 7800xt for 519 and he likes it. upgraded from a 6800 with 16gb tho, said its a solid 15-20fps better in 1440p. and i sold his old card on market place for 300 within a day. maybe got lucky idk. but gl dude.

Oke i have a perfect TN 1290x1080p 280hz asus tuf panel. I bought this card but why are people telling to not use this card with a 1080p display ? i dont understand whats the problem. what google awnser quotes, The RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT aren't built for 1080p gaming. It's kinda shitty to know that if you're like me and you like Path Tracing, AMD can't really do that yet, regardless of the GPU you buy, so you're stuck with Nvidia. Maybe intel will come up and run Path Tracing better than Nvidia with Battlemage, but I honestly doubt it.

Nvidia is the only one doing PT so the optimization probably only favor their cards and even then it's heavy as hell to run. The other companies have to tackle the "fake" raytracing first, even more so because it's the option available in most games.

It’s good but the AMD Ryzen 5 7500F is almost at the same price lvl with 15-20% better Performance. I’m also planning to build a new pc and I definitely go with the 5 7500F. If you want in a few years a gpu upgrade you should choose the newer one. ;)

What this proves more than anything, is that once you are fully focussed on the game, you won't notice the graphics quality.
It does affect the experience if you usually play open world games like Star War, Spiderman etc, but for competitive games like CS2, Valorant or Dota you won't even notice the graphics in 720p to be honest

I used to think that I really want good Ray Tracing performance from any future card of mine. But what I was really thinking and didn't know was that I really want good path ray tracing performance. No FSR or DLSS. For some reason it took a long while to connect, but at this point the only one which can do it at lower resolutions is the RTX 4090.
So with that out of the picture, I don't care about ray tracing performance till we get mid tier cards which can easily do that. So at the earliest it's going to be the next generation, if that.
With that in mind, this card is looking really good and a must buy if not for the extra even 100Watts from its main competitor from Nvidia which yes is more expensive, but runs with much less power too which is important as I do not live in the USA or another country with very cheap electricity.
Then I remembered I am poor AF and I use an almost decade old PC, so STFU.

Either you have your fans running at max speed or the manufacture really did a good job cooling that thing. Because those temp you are showing right there even at 4K that's like idle, that's like doing nothing.
Think it might be the sapphire nitro+ which has a beefy cooler but even other models stay pretty cool and hotspot is usually only 10C higher

Thats one or two games, when 6800xt push more fps, but other one - two games running better with 7800xt. Doesnt matter… and of course this card is New and driver opimization can still help.
6800XT has a much larger memory bus, all the new cards from AMD and Nvidia have extremely cut down memory bandwidth.

I just got a 7900 xt paired with a R7 5800x but when I play MSFS I’m bottled at 30-40 fps I’m not sure if I installed it properly or not or the cpu is too old
It's CPU bottleneck for sure.....MSFS is very CPU Intensive game....Cheek using MSI afterburner CPU GPU usage...

heya i recently bought a rx 7800xt hellhound but it is extremely loud even tho the fans are 900-1200 rpm at all times under load capping it to 60 fps makes it quiet but i didnt buy it for 60 fps 1440p

Starfield is a good game. With my 7950X3D RTX 4070Ti 16GB 6000Mhz DDR5 CL36 RAM and 2K monitor, everything is on ultra, FSR2 on, VSR is on, I can play very comfortably with 65-75 fps in open areas and 95-110 fps in closed areas.

4070 takes 130-160W after undervolting (or in Starfield), I have 4070 FE and it takes 180-200W normally and around 200-220W witch OC :)
130-160W is for 4060 non Ti. 4070 in compare with 7800xt is just not much smart choice today. 50-80 watts… doesnt matter at all.
Stock RTX 4070 consumes ~200w in gaming loads, while the stock RX 7800XT goes at ~250w, and in video playback (useful to look at since we spend a lot of PC time on youtube and playing video files) the 7800XT consumes ~25w more (20w vs 45w). Of course it depends on how everyone uses their computer, but if video playback and gaming is how one usually spends time on their PCs, then the 7800 XT on average would consume ~30-40w more than the RTX 4070.
In this context the electricity cost can add up in time, but then again the 7800 XT is ~50-100$/EUR cheaper so it no longer matters. Then you are left with some extra heat dumped in the room, but better performance than the RTX 4070 and in theory longevity (even though I am personally not convinced by 12GB not being enough in 3 years time).
Both cards are great, there is no real wrong purchasing choice, it depends on what the consumer prioritises.

Honest question, I have a RX 6700 10gb and when I bought it was roughly $300. I was considering upgrading, most games run very smooth at 1440p max settings usually 70fps or so. Games like starfield however run around 50fps, I don't know if its worth switching to a 16gb card if the performance isn't much better. Currently the 7800 XT is $519 new lowest I can find from XFX, I would want to keep my old card so I would have to pay completely out of pocket for a new one. Anyone on here in a similar situation with a 10gb/12gb card and switched? anything wonderful happen (leprechaun with a pot of gold, ect)?
i got my kid the steel legend 7800xt for 519 and he likes it. upgraded from a 6800 with 16gb tho, said its a solid 15-20fps better in 1440p. and i sold his old card on market place for 300 within a day. maybe got lucky idk. but gl dude.

Nvidia is the only one doing PT so the optimization probably only favor their cards and even then it's heavy as hell to run. The other companies have to tackle the "fake" raytracing first, even more so because it's the option available in most games.
