A favorite in south ,even for train journeys ,as it keeps long hous .Nicely done .👌Kunal ,you should use slit green chillies full length ,,and use one or two during plating as well .Raw groundnuts fried in oil ,give a more crunchy taste and colorful look to to the dish ,Kari patta as a sprig in addition to the loose leaves in baghaar . We sometimes add haldi to the rice while cooking itself for a uniform yellow colour .
Chef Kunal which ever recipe you'll prepare ...Jadu ho jata hai...i am a gourmet & less towards cooking...banii banayi mil Jaye to kya baat hai ..but yet i try preparing various dishes 😊🌻🙏
Hi Krunal 👋 I use to eat Lemon Rice regularly, sometimes with green chutney or coconut chutney or something else, but you divert my mind on your tomato 🍅 raita. All ingredients like south Indian except 🍅. So Thanks for giving us this new Raita tip. I am going to enjoy this raita with my next Lemon Rice trip. Have a good time 👍👍👍✅
Sir love your cooking and d best simple way you explain... Some people go on talking, include their stories in it, tab, Khana bananeka mazahi chale jata haie... Keep it up sir
I ate it once in my childhood given by the south indian neighbour , nd i loved it . Thanks for the recipe because what i remembered was "wo khatti wali chawal yellow si" and no one understood in my family . They were like : "wo khatti chawal mtlb baasi chawal hogi"😂
I love khattey chawal, imli ya lemon Wale.. Have it with plain curd.. Awesome...I was wondering where I could get those small shallow white ceramic dishes? Very cute they are. Interesting take on tomato raita. Will try that
Good try is what I would say to this chef. There are of course minor variations from region to region as South India is not one homogenous area. Having said that I have not come across ginger used in lemon rice. I have occasionally seen garlic being used ( which in my opinion spoils the lemon rice). Ginger is new. But may of us do use onions in lemon rice or chitranna, as we call it. It is optional but widely used. Then most often it is finished with a topping of fresh grated coconut. Cashews are very occasional option. But a key ingredient that I don’t see here is coriander leaves. We always finish this recipe with a garnish of fresh coriander. Thank you for the video
Garlic is never used in any of the lemon or tamarind rice recipes. And like you said, it disturbs the flavour profile and whoever uses it have no idea about lemon rice. Very finely chopped Ginger is used, depending upon the occasion but wouldn't be included if it is being made as an offering. Unlike Chitranna, Coriander isn't a must for our regular lemon rice.
It's Karnataka's staple breakfast dish. This is called as Nimbehann Chitranna (meaning lemon mixed rice) or we simply call it chitranna (Chitra+Anna). We usually make it with the previous day's leftover rice to make it more flavourful and tasty. It's never made with long grain rice like basmati, we use regular rice like sonamasuri or jeera. We never eat it with raita or any gravy. We eat it with pickle, chutney pudi, chutney or just chitranna. But I'd like to try it with this raita now 👍🏽 It's simple, quick, satisfying and extremely delicious. Thanks for sharing this wonderful dish on your channel. Lots of love and regards from Karnataka 💐♥️🙏🏽
👍 being a chef u hv done ur research hats off to you sir. But authentically we add fresh grated coconut n coriander. N we don't serve with raitha but we serve with green chutney
No garlic onion because this is naivedyam for festival days or given in temple for worshippers as prasad. ( In south india when you cook and give it to God it’s called naivedyam so usually we don’t taste the food cooked or add onion garlic. Once it’s blessed then it’s called prasadam so there’s a diff unlike northies everything is prasad 😂). So my point is this lemon rice is a naivedyam on festival days or a regular prasadam in temples so original version does not have onion garlic
