    @Dang Khoa Tran Nguyen, We have a similar problem in the US. Very few teachers, although there are some good ones to be found, I have been lucky to work with a few. As for resources, I began with many of the common ones that are available: Juan Martín's books, particularly El Arte Flamenco de la Guitarra, Denis Koster's Key's to Flamenco, Transcriptions of Sabicas and Paco de Lucia, etc. In addition to these, probably the most important thing is listening A LOT. It is an aural tradition first and foremost!

    Hi ! I really love your video, and I wonder if this could sound quite the same on a folk guitar ? I don't have the money for an acoustic guitar so if it could work I'll clearly learn rumba !

    • @AlvaradoGuitar
      @AlvaradoGuitar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It will definitely sound different! Steel strings are going to get a much brighter sound. Flamenco music is traditionally played on nylon string guitars and that has kind of defined the sound. But, like I mentioned to another person, if you like the sound of it on steel strings, go for it! But if you get a chance, you might want to try to find yourself a nylon string at a price you can afford. It will really expand you palette of sound options.

      Dang Khoa Tran Nguyen I recognized the main falseta came from Juan Martin’s 42 Solos flamenco book, so that’ll get you going.

    Can you tell me the techniques you used in this video, it sounds awesome. I just learned how to strum for rumba flamenco and I want to learn more.
    Edit: I just saw you told somebody already but since I already said something, do you have any music or even just this one in particular that I can buy or download?

    Is the strumming pattern at the start, before the finger fanning, done with just the thumb or are the index and middle fingers involved?

    What guitar do you have? Is that classical or flamenco guitar? The body looks a little thicker and louder than most flamenco guitars that I've seen.

    • @AlvaradoGuitar
      @AlvaradoGuitar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there! It is a 1971 Juan Estruch, from Barcelona. It is a bit of a hybrid really. It has a spruce top and cypress back and sides like many traditional flamenco guitars. But as you noted, it does have a deeper body more similar to a classical. The action is rather low, but not quite as low as a traditional flamenco. Since I play classical and flamenco I like that this guitar sits in the middle and allows me to do both without having to switch between instruments. To be honest, I don't get too hung up about whether it is called a flamenco or a classical. I play the guitar that has the sound I like. Thanks for watching the video!

      John Alvarado
      Thanks John! Really awesome video, I hope to be able to play like that. I have a Jose Ramirez 4ne, you think it will sound like yours :)

    • @AlvaradoGuitar
      @AlvaradoGuitar  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that is a cedar top guitar, isn't it. So, the sound will likely be a little more warm and round with a little less punch. So, not that classic "flamenco" bite but otherwise, it should sound fine.

    I know it's la rumba , but what is the actual name of this song you're playing ?

    • @AlvaradoGuitar
      @AlvaradoGuitar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi, the piece does not actually have a specific name. Traditionally, flamenco performances are really more of a collection of ideas within a specific style, or palo as flamencos would call it. So a performer would play "por soleares" or "por alegrías" meaning they were performing in the form of a soleares or an alegrías. This is a collection of rhythms and falsetas in the style of rumba. Some borrowed from other players, some of my own making.

    • @AlvaradoGuitar

      Karol Kryński, most of this is a combination of ideas by Juan Martin and can be found in his books Solos Flamencos. The 3rd falseta is mine but I have not transcribed it, I just keep it in my head!

    What is the 4th chord please???

    • @AlvaradoGuitar
      @AlvaradoGuitar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The chord progression at the beginning is just: F - E (repeated 4 times) then Am - G7 - F - E - F - E (Repeated twice). Enjoy!
