Dr. Manning was way too judgemental here. The kid literally came from a low-income household with a single overworked mother who couldn't afford childcare. The fact that she was biased in blaming the mother instead of her circumstances, really says something.

It does and you have a fair point, but she reflected and apologized, focusing more on the kid. She went back to being professional and sympathized with the mother, thus she was forgiven. Don't forget she's human too and sometimes we make mistakes. It happens.

She _can_ afford food, it's just that her argument is she doesn't have time to make anything. She should have taken more steps to ensure that her son was actually being fed, which she apparently did not.

We tried everything - playing airplane games, an side dish of sauce for dipping, food cut into funny shapes, no drinks until she ate her food - but every meal she would sit there for hours food untouched. I remember we would sit down for supper every day @ 5 pm for supper, and 3 hours later she would be asleep in her chair, food completely untouched. In the end my step mom got clever - she bought children's vitamins tablets and PediaSure . My baby sister was rewarded for trying her breakfast with "candy"- the children's vitamin tablets and for eating some of her supper she was rewarded with "chocolate milkshake" - chocolate PediaSure drink. We did this for an few months until she become interested in food of her own accord. My own daughters when though an similar phase as toddlers. I once read in an children's health book that an toddler may try an food up to 52 times before they decide if they like it or not. It has nothing to with Lazyiness.

Doesn’t happen to every kid with autism and not every kid with autism throw things around
I’m 20 and have had autism since birth
And I’m health as can be always was always will be claiming that he could be have autism Based on what is shown in this clip and what is said is actually biased not every kid autism has the same issues/ barriers ect ..
There is no such thing as a common issue/ barrier in autistic kids everyone is different and it doesn’t matter what age you are you can throw fits that doesn’t mean you have autism
And if the mom isn’t around to notice a change in his behaviour ect.. she can’t tell the information that the doctor need to know that he could have autism and you can also have no behaviour changes and still have autism but the mom not around enough to know a enough of a change
People with autism have a consistent schedule and behaviour the Mom is just assuming he is eating and that it’s only when she is around that this happens but she doesn’t actually know that because he baby sitters aren’t telling her what’s going on with him when they are around you need to know 24 hours of a kids life and day by day schedule to be able to keno this stuff or it there is something like autism that plays into the situation
Not just a few hours most of when she is home based on her work schedule he is asleep for someone his age

As judging dr. Manning was, I personally still think that the mother should have a bit more responsibility in this situation. She had zero ideas of what her child was eating during the day meaning she didn't keep in contact or speak to her sitters about what he ate. That's the first thing parents ask us preschool teachers when they pick up their kids for the day. How much they ate, what they ate, if they have napped and how the day has been.

    • @rosierennie5867

      @kiratheusagiisworkshop5266 3 ปีที่แล้ว +87

@@rosierennie5867 But she can afford to ask whoever that was there what her child ate and how much etc. Someone is with the child, someone knows and as the childs parent it's up to her to make sure her child get's to eat or at least get on top of an issue if it comes forward that the kid ain't eating properly.
Communication don't cost money but she still have a responsibility to make sure her child actually get's taken care off properly when she leave her child with someone else.
If that's judgmental to you, then I'm seriously worried. Because it's basic parenting to make sure your kid is taken well care of when you're not with them. We would judge a parent who just leaves a kid somewhere or with someone random and then goes to work so why is it so different to not keep track of their kids when they leave their kid with someone?
You don't just drop your kid off with a random person and guess what they ate or not. That's not right and I too would be frustrated if coming across something like that.
If she can't even keep track of what her child eats and feeds him chocolate milk and crackers and that's all he get's, then yes it's on her and if she can't be sure if he eats at all because of her jobs, then she should try to find a different solution that won't put her child at risk with things like malnutrition. It can easily kill a child. And once again, communication can easily help with that because working 2 jobs or not, by law she can take breaks and can then check in on her son.

Although what doctor Manning said was unprofessional, I admire that she reflected and said that she was mad at herself, not the mother. She focused on the child and apologized while sympathizing with the mother.
She was forgiven and the mother accepted the help provided by her and the social worker. Although she was right with her paying a bit more attention to her child and making sure he at least eats properly, the mother REALLY has it rough and is stressed beyond understanding.
The doctor is human and was fustrated and so was the mother and she didn't pay as much attention to her son as much as she should have.
Mistakes happen because we're human, but the important thing is to forgive and move on.

Her child was literally STARVING to death in front of her, and him being mute/having a speech delay prevented him from saying a simple "im hungry". I'm not sure why people are defending her. Idc how overworked you are, FEED YOUR FUCKING CHILD

Also you have to add on household bills such as electric, water, heating and lets not forget clothing because in my opinion every couples of weeks kids seem to go up a clothing size.

You know this is hard for me to understand because we grew up poor. But my mom from the time I was like five we had a role where we either eat it or we starve.
None of us were picky eaters. We didn't eat large quantities of food but we ate pretty much almost everything. I think honestly was because we didn't have junk food in the house.
We did have Ovaltine and graham crackers but that was like kind of for dessert if we ate all our normal food.
My Mom shopped at five different stores just so we could eat fresh fruits and vegetables she'd buy them when they'd have sales and then we had lean needs pastas flourless bread.
My mom also shopped at trader Joe's so we had a pretty good diet. There wasn't quantity so we often went to bed hungry but we drink more milk so we wouldn't feel hungry

      Lifehack: RICE!
If you can't afford a ton of veggies, make rice. It's a good filler.
Of course nutrients are important, but if you're still having the rumblies in the tumblies. Rice.
Rice (in the west) is also often fortified with extra nutrients.

Dr. Manning is seriously getting on my nerves!! All she always do is judging and doing all the things her way without listening to others, as a doctor she should be more professional then that and control her emotions as well as listening to others too

My sister is the same age as the child in this clip, she has a slightly more varied diet than him but it is still very limited, the rest is made up with supplements which were recommended by her pediatrician and a pediatrician that sees another one of my sisters. This doctor was unprofessional and where I come from would have been heavily disciplined by the hospital in which she works.
