    Dude I never comment on any videos I watch, ever. But can’t tell you how glad I am to see this video show up on my feed. I was watching your videos back in 2016 and learned all the basics of fitness and nutrition from you. So happy to see you back. Please don’t vanish or stop this time around.

    I have to say, this is the perfect beginner training explanation I've ever seen. I wish this video existed 5 years ago when i started at the gym. Would have saved me so much time with trial and error going through the millions of videos online from thousands of fitness influencers. I'll be sure to share this video whenever one of my friends wants to start hitting the gym.

    • @sasagrcevic475
      @sasagrcevic475 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is no "beginner" training explanation. You figure out muscle groups, get exercises for them (nothing fancy or too much), do full body training 2 or 3 times a week and watch your diet a bit. And that's all there is to working out.

  • @knotwilg3596
    @knotwilg3596 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    When a video is packed with information, backed up by science, >20 minutes long, the creator doesn't ask you to like and subscribe, instead refers to a credible other creator and indeed hasn't published another video in a year ... you know you came to the right place.
    This video is enough for hours, days, weeks, months perhaps even years of training. It doesn't lead to years of watching youtube videos. This is high quality information and ironically should get the kind of revenue the others are making with their addictive content provision.

Hitting most of these points succesfully and noticing good muscle growth! Going to focus on going to failure more and sometimes trying to completely go for failure. Great video. Thanks man! Feeling good about going to the gym today. I've just had the simple idea of keeping a log of my weights and improving them systematically, always pushing a slightly higher weight (those 1.25kg discs become handy). I don't go super scientific with my eating, I just eat like a normal person but no sugar junk and I try to keep a hefty amount of protein and carbs and fats going on. So far getting quite good results in the 6 months I've gone to the gym again actively (I was active for years in 2014-2018, now getting back at it).

    This is exactly what I've been looking for. Nothing has been able to tell me what I should be aiming for or where to start or the theory behind it, I just get given exercise routines that are either too easy or too difficult with no explanation of what progress looks like, (aim for 6-12 reps, increase weight, if not increase rep, if not increase set, push to within 0-3 rep of failure)
    Thankyou, you rule

    • @melvladimir
      @melvladimir ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it's possible, but harder (IMHO), takes more time and needs some creative approach (or trainers). For example, you can look at ballet dancers and their legs, they work with their own body weight (for example, 3 hours per day, 6 days per week). Or gymnasts. But it takes hours daily. As for me, I don't want to spend so much time on this, that's why I prefer gym and 1 hour/day, 4 days/week.

      Bodyweight is a bit overly limiting. For pull-ups not as much, but for squats, yeah. Add a backpack to your push-ups or squats or whatever getting some weights for home is a great idea because they don't go bad and lighter weights can be used for weaker muscles as you progress. Like a 25 lb dumbbell might be good for curls or even rows if you're a beginner, but even more advanced they're tough for lateral raises. Can also do one-legged RDL's or split squats for greater effectiveness with less physical weights in your set. One barbell and two dumbbells with removable plate weights would set you up for a lifetime of muscle building and maintenance, then you could buy the plates as you get stronger and as they show up for cheap locally. That's what I went for.

    When adding up sets per muscle, would 3 sets of bench press count as 3 sets of tricep exercises? I know triceps aren’t the focus of the exercise but they do some work.
    Just trying to figure out how many times a week I should be doing isolation movements on top of compounds. Thanks.

    • @dynamicx785
      @dynamicx785 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bench normally doesn’t count as tricep sets

    • @mikafoxx2717
      @mikafoxx2717 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends how close to failure you go, generally, because it brings other muscles closer to failure too. Dangerous on some movements though if not careful. Dips might be a perfectly good set for triceps as well as chest whereas bench wouldn't, nor would rows for biceps, but chin-ups might be a lot closer to that. It just depends how close it is to the other muscles for the limiting factor. If you do RDL's but your grip is the limiting factor, well, you've just trained your grip until failure and your back was 5 reps away still, for instance.

      Those guys are full of shit. Building 5kg of muscle can take close to a year or even longer. Unless you’re on gear (steroids), nobody is putting on 10lbs of muscle in 3-5 months.

    This was great. I’m a beginner at lifting I’m glad you touched on different arm
    Lengths and how it’s different. I’m 6’8 and everyone’s always told me it’s no different then a shorter person… but it is. I have to travel 2x further.
    When I do bench press I feel more pain and failure in my elbows then my chest. Is that normal?
    Would be nice if you or Jeff can do a video like this for people 6’6 and up work outs lolZ

      You’ll do better with dumbells for chest cause you will have more room to adjust to your build.

      You’re probably too big to have a good grip on the barbel on a normal sized bench your elbows should be 90• on the bar

      Make sure your bench form is good too. I use the cue of pushing my elbows away from my body and together. Helps me imagine chest activation

    It used to be so hard to find resources for skinny guy muscle building that I’ve had to go my own way. But I’m happy to see that’s changing with great videos like these

    the photo comparison is super deceiving. That looks more like 15kg of muscle difference.

    This is the most comprehesnive guide to muscle growth I've seen so far! I've struggled with no muscle growth for the past months and I was getting frustrated that I could myself getting stronger and lifting more weights with good amount of reps but my muscle growth was the same. But this video shed some light on what is happening in with my growth. This video also helped me find a good way forward to measure my muscle growth. Thank u!

    It’s so nice to watch a video that shows me how “x” happens and what’s the best way to achieve “y” based on “z”, instead of “GAIN 50 LBS OF MUSCLE DOING THIS ONE EXERCISE 😱😱”. 10/10 great video!
