My father started me on Tomica back in the mid 1980’s when they were sold here in toy stores. After the early 90’s they were all but gone. About 5 years ago I really wanted to get back into collecting them because of the memories of collecting with my dad . I started ordering them off Ebay and have nearly every one released since the late ‘90’s and some ‘80’s and early ‘90’s. I have roughly 350 Tomicas in my collection now. I love the realism (except for the tires....but it adds to the charm for me). I will definitely look up your Tomica guy for future ordering. Thanks for adding these to your channel!
it took me a while to start buying Tomica cars, because of the wheels. But once i realized how close to real life cars these are, the attention to detail for what is essentially a toy car, i was hooked. The fact that it also comes in a box (yes!) and has suspension (YES!!!) only helped. Happy to see that Tomica will now have a regular spot on your channel. Looking forward to more features on them and hopefully the Toy Pimp will also send you the Tomica Premium releases.
@@MsPuff-fb5me I have only one Matchbox car with suspension. Still don't understand how I got it lol I have it since I was very small. I don't have any other car like that.
Tomica is a Japanese diecast that has been almost 50 years when they started it in 1970! I actually do like Tomica cars because some of are fun to collect and fun to play with it. They're nice as Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Majorette, etc. When I was born from over 10 years, I was from Japan and they were nice to collect.
8:47 This is my fav Tomica along with the upcoming 2023 FL5 Type R (December) and Premium 2023 NSX Type S (January 2023). Tomica and Acura is really killing it when it comes to the 2016 NSX and the 2023 NSX Type S which is coming in January 2023
You should look into the Tomica Premium and tomica dream lines. They are about Car culture pricing here in Singapore. And they are like 90% like the limited vintage models
The Abarth is, for all intents and purposes, Japanese. It's made in Japan, uses mostly MX-5 parts, the only Fiat component is the engine and associated ancillaries.
Some of these Tomica basic models are very nicely done. The Ford GT Concept, the Abarth 124 Spyder, the Honda NSX and the Chevy Camaro could easily give Hot Wheels a run for their money. The problem for me is not the wheels, i can live with that. The problem is their import prices imo. That's why lots of people hesitate to collect Tomica, especially the US collectors who are used to pay only $1 for a basic Hot Wheel or Matchbox model. Thanks for this video John!
Tomica limited vintage wouldn't be here if tomica didn't exist. I actually started collecting the regular tomica at a young age and to be honest, I still love them.
As someone who grew up buying both Matchbox and Tomica it's always been interesting for me to see the reaction of fellow North American collectors towards the latter. I imagine most will find it hard to start collecting Tomica due to the price and just how different the castings are from more familiar choices like Hot Wheels and Matchbox, but the guys that do buy it will warm up to them quick and start actively seeking them too.
I'd have to agree it's the wheels of the mainline Tomica's that don't work for me too. That said, the new sports-type wheels on the other hand work reasonably well for some models - Green Mercedes AMG GT R, Ford GT Concept, BMW i8, Lotus Exige R-GT to name a few. For me, the deciding factor is how well these new wheels contribute towards the stance of the car and how well these wheels fill the wheel arches. Tomica also make some 'specials' within the mainline collection that are worth a look. I recently purchased the Initial D AE86 Trueno and the Lupin the 3rd Fiat. Not just because both cars were from popular Japanese anime, but because these have been realised as real cars with proper wheels. I do prefer cars from their Premium, TL and TLV range, but there are definite gems in their mainline collection if you're prepared to look.
They are cool, I like how there are loads of models of which a lot are weird (or just cars you don't see in the US/Europe) like those Kei cars. They are just way too expensive imo, over here, if you find 'em you'll pay about €10 each, for that price I can get a nice GL or 3 Majorettes (Premium). I even find the MJ castings better looking than those Tomicas tbh
I LOVE TOMICA I personally own 21 tomica cars I got a Toyota vellfire yesterday I LOVE TOMICA they make cars that I don't see In the USA which I love! Like kei cars and economy cars and cars that boring hot wheels don't make matchbox is decent but... Well no suspension and no opening doors I am forever hooked on tomica cars and happy
I have avoided these models for a long time due to the pathetic wheels but it seems I might have to get some of them afterall because the castings are actually incredible. I'm already digging that Impreza sedan, the Ford GT, AMG, R8, NSX and the Camaro. This line used to be available in the shops in my city but I haven't seen these particular new models anywhere (I have seen the older ones though, like the two Mazdas, the Lexus race car and the Honda S660). Lets see if I find the models I want.
TRIPPY 24 not just the wheel choice nor the improper scale (ie the Toyota Prius wagon in 1/72 lmao), but last week I've accidentally drop my yellow 911 and the entire paint thru its rear bumper is torn off. Sometimes I regretting to bought one of them..
I want them all!!! If only I had money or could get it somehow...but I'm only 15!!! Also I can't get an allowance since my parents are using there money for other important stuff..
OK, I have a question, as I'm currently unfamiliar with the Tomica lines. Are those different than the Tomica Premium? As far as I understand Tomica Premium are something like a middle ground between the toy lines and the high-end TLV and TLV Neo. Can anyone confirm that?
Diokksin You are right! Tomica Premiums sits nicely between TLVs and the Basic line ups, in terms of details and in terms of price. There are nice to collect without breaking my pocket (=
I honestly like the wheels of mainline tomicas more than standard hotwheels The wheels on hotwheels just isnt my cup of tea, i just love em tomica wheels Theyre very fun to collect, have 100 atm, collecting the box is fun too
I like those Tomica old type wheels, because they are much realistic size on basic cars like Impreza. I don't like those wide wheels at all, those are too big and make some cars way too high, like that orange Lexus. Maybe Sport cars like Lambo , NSX , etc should have bigger / different wheels than those "retro" wheels, but these current big wheels suck. I love older 70's- 90's oldschool Tomicas, because quality and interesting JDM car models.
I prefer european and american cars, so this line is not really for me.. still nice though, i appreciate all the realistic representation of all these cars. some even have opening parts. Very nice indeed..
I LIKE REALLY LOVE TOMICA SPECIAL EDITION 2022 I REALLY LOVE DETAILS 2022 ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PO ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice dude
We need these types of tomicas in America
And that Camaro was perfect it’s my dream car

Do you buy hotwheels, greenlight, and matchbox also? They have lots of toy cars that look like real life you just have to look it up..
It has suspensions???
Also is it me or is it that they're the only toy brand to sell tons of economy cars?

I have to agree. I just started buying Tomica a couple of months ago and I am still blown away by the detail.

Lamley: THIS IS A BOX !
Rest of viewers: wow !
I just bought a whole slew of the premium cars last month they are such detailed amazing cars.
3:03 That"(初回特別仕樣)"means"First Edition".
It will only produce once when the new number comes out.
Pianoforte Sam iirc it's released only on the casting's first day of release
Fun fact: All of Tomica's cars are painted using the real method for painting the actual car.

I'm a big tomica fan
the only Tomica I have is that orange Lexus 4DR race car & I Love it!!! I want that Camaro bad!!! wish they sold in retail stores
The Detail is great John.
Lamley: This is a box

Some older models have retired already but still sought after
The Mazda Roadster and the Abarth 124 Spider have opening roofs, you can put them back on as well
I like the details on the rides I can't find these where I live at that is near me

I really wanted to see the FJ Cruiser. I have a 2007 FJ.
I'll do a second video.
Great video
Like the white prius and Suzuki swift
Some people might not get into average cars like the Nissan Leaf but i would love hot wheels to do that

Hi! May I know what is the name of that spinning platform that you use showcasing for the cars? I want to buy one as well. Thanks
Very nice but why they didn't add the side Mirrors, that would look much more real
