Over Haddon looks to be a very pleasant village indeed, Patrick. The views as you say from the pub look spectacular. Haddon Hall is such a lovely building, and it's the first time that I've seen many views of it, from outside and near the river. A lovely area, and many thanks for this production for us all to see.

Over Haddon is just up the road from me. I always love going there to enjoy a drink at the Lathkil Hotel and look over the views from it of the dale. Haddon Hall is a wonderful place. Thanks Ffranc for watching and commenting 👍

Greetings from Canada again, Patrick! Been awhile since I had the opportunity see a post and comment. We're up to our knees with snow in some places, and I love it. I still run in the winter with a safe cut-off temp of -25 Celsius. The Army days are still with me. That view of Lathkill Dale and River? Priceless, isn't it? You are a fine ambassador for the Peak District as your love for the place is obvious. We will have a pint and ramble together sometime, Friend. In the meantime, cut out the processed sugars and you will fit through the stone fences much easier! This is coming from a chef, mind you. It would be cruel to ask of anyone to give up a pint now and then. So...back to MS Teams.Uggh!! Cheers.

Hi again William from snowy Canada! We're probably due some of it here soon, although not on your scale of course. I'm not a big drinker you understand, on average I only drink once a week, but I do enjoy it when I have it, pure bliss 😊 Thanks for watching and all the best 👍

I totally agree Patrick, Lathkill is one of my favourite dales and the village is a favourite too. I remember the tea shop halfway up the steep path from the Dale. So welcome. Great walk. thanks.

Thanks again. Yes you'll have seen from this that Lathkill Dale is a personal favourite and that I love the village too! I don't remember a tea shop on that steep path, perhaps it was before my time, but th4re used to be one in a resident's garage on Main Street, however, that's been gone a long time now 👍

Now then Patrick I think Haddon Hall is an 'Antiques Roadshow' dream. Can you imagine one there? I can. Fantastic short walk. Of course tempted by the pub views and they were and are good. The whole area in fact is worth a good bit of time what with the dale to. I reckon you need a bit of practice at that musical instrument though. Mind you your music here is always top notch. Take care. See you again. Mark

Gosh! I haven’t seen an organ like that in years! It makes a good noise. Seems appropriate for the season, 12 days of Christmas. I do like a Christmas market.

Morning Rachel, many thanks for watching 😀This is a very easy "there and back" walk really, but it's just nice to visit Over Haddon as it's so lovely and then stroll across to Haddon Hall whilst it's open and those views over Lathkill on the way back is what makes this walk for me. That old organ was great wasn't it! My friend Matt is continuing his Dad's family entertainment business, which is nice to see. The market at Haddon was lovely and it was the perfect opportunity to get some shots whilst the hall was open. I think Teams is definitely around for some time yet as my work colleagues and I won't be going back into the office anytime soon. We shall see! 😊 Anyway thanks again Rachel for taking the time to watch and really good to finally meet you on the walk yesterday. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 👍

Another really good video Patrick. It looked like you had a Camcorder on a tripod when walking ? I saw the shadows but could be wrong ....
I used to have a nice Sony 4K Camcorder. I don't think I knew what I was doing with it really.
Your video footage is really nice and sharp. It looks really great on a big TV.
It's amazing how this Peak District has so many great views. But it relies on you to bring it to TH-cam.
    David.

    • @solitaryrambler
      @solitaryrambler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Many thanks David. Yes the shadow of my Sony Handycam and tripod gave the game away there! 😂 I had a bit of a problem this particular day as, although the weather was lovely, the shadow of the camera showed if I pointed it one way, but pointing it the other I'd get the rays of the sun overpowering the shots, which did show in a few of the scenes in this. I'd love to get a 4k camera, but that will have to happen one day in the future. I've always been very happy with the HD footage my current camera produces though, as you say it is really sharp. My video editing software also manages to bring out the colours a little more too. Thanks for watching David and all the best 👍

Glad you enjoyed it Anthony, Haddon Hall is a mini-Chatsworth in a way and I took the opportunity to get in there whilst the Christmas market was on to get those shots within the hall and grounds. Yes it was fun being the organ grinder for a few minutes! 😂 Not sure what's happening with us yet with regards to working back in the office as we have to wait until we're advised, so we'll see. I'll certainly be glad to see people in the flesh again as opposed to faces on a laptop screen! 😂 Thanks Anthony for watching and commenting 👍

Patrick, will you ever do a walk inspired by the film Withnail and I?

Sorry Louie, not sure I understand? I saw that film once a very long time ago but don't remember it well 👍

@@solitaryrambler They go to Penrith. I thought you may be familiar with it and do a walk of the filming locations. Never mind though if you’re unfamiliar.

Haddon Hall reminds me of WIND IN THE WILLOWS. I was disappointed that Toad ,Ratty, Mole, and Badger were not at the fair.
