I am a big fan of Haddon, while Chatsworth is grand, Haddon is so atmospheric and homely. I still have a photo of the long gallery that I took in the 1970s.
Thank you for taking the time to show my wife & my favourite place in the whole of the UK. It has a special place in our hearts. We will be back to visit Haddon in our next visit from Australia in 2024.
I enjoyed your tour very much and have recognized different settings from movies. I visited Haddon hall when I was 12 after having read “Dorothy of Haddon Hall”. I felt an affinity for the manor at the time and have always hope to visit again. I am now 78 and through genealogy I discovered I have lineage to the Manners. I am an American but have always felt a tie to England. Thank you❤

It’s such an enchanting place! Everywhere you turn you can see the history that has passed by over the centuries. It really has a way of pulling at the heart strings and sets the imagination going. I’ll return and film a thorough video next year and share it in more detail, not that I need any excuse to return! I only recently subscribed so I'm enjoying catching up on your videos! I didn't know Haddon Hall existed until I saw it in the film adaptation of Jane Eyre that you mentioned. I fell instantly in love with Haddon in a way that felt oddly familiar. Some time later I discovered that Richard Vernon of Haddon was my 17th great-grandfather. I don't know how to describe my attachment to this place other than it feels like a long buried secret running through my blood. I doubt I'll ever be able to visit in person, so thank you for this heartwarming tour.
Beautiful place indeed! Personally I think the more Modern Xmas decorations detract from the House. Natural is always better. But just my take... Magical Place.

Haddon Hall is lovely covered in frost, even if it is not covered in roses on this visit. It seems to be a 'good thing' to be the next brother to a Duke!

Simply beautiful filming.
It is amazing to see the surprising transformation of this place at Christmas.
Alas, I visited it a couple of summers ago with my daughter on a day when the hall was empty and we did not enjoy it at all. Although the gardens were charming and carefully maintained, the interior felt that under the excuse of keeping everything in its original state , the most poultry effort had been made to bring it a little more to life for visitors. Going through the gentlemen’s lounge , we were shocked by how badly it stank of smoke from what we were told was a recent party. To top it all, I stumbled and fell badly on the uneven kithen floor. Maybe the generous grant which they have recently received has triggered a greater effort to be made in the overall presentation and not just the bare minimum they could get away with.

Those modern decorations ...ouch...beautiful but somehow take the focus off the place...like building modern estate in the middle of cotswolds village😂
