      My question at this point in time with evse charging standardizing to “NACS” is this a good move to future proof yourself? Yes you could buy adapters for this, but maybe might consider “NACS” EVSE. Food for thought!

    We bought the same Autel charger after seeing Tom Moloughney’s review over at State Of Charge channel and have been very happy with it. We hard wired it as it has been very convenient a handful of times we needed to charge quickly after a road trip at 50amps. But most times we set it using the App to automatically charge at 10pm at 40amps to achieve the lower electricity rate and prevent the dreaded Ioniq 5 plug overheating.

    I have this exact one. I had an electrician hardwire it into my carport in Jan and it has been awesome. No complaints. The long cable reaches out to my car parked in the driveway. I would highly recommend it!

    Just purchased this to replace a non-UL 40 amp 14-50 portable L2 "charger" that over time becomes a pain taking it off the wall in the garage, plugging it in outside, then having to unplug it and hang it back up inside. The app is amazing, the install was super easy, and its very nice looking too. I am hoping to get one for our office too. The RFID feature would be perfect to give to employees to limit the public using it. I ended up paying $390 plus tax last week and I was able to hard wire it and plug up the 14-50 hole on the bottom. Thanks for the recommendation Corbin!

    I've had this Autel charger for about two months now and have had no issues with it at all. Just works and the app is great.

    Sounds like a good reliable charger. I want to point out that many EV users have solar and the charger from Emporia has a function to charge the EV based on excess solar capacity. The charger will vary the output to use all excess solar capacity and send it to the EV. It also has a 'Peak Demand' feature that will adjust the charger output such that the load on your electrical main does not exceed a preset number of kW. The Emporia charger does require energy monitoring sensors in your main breaker box, but if you are using solar or concerned about limiting the current on your main circuit breaker when other high power sources are running, then it is well worth integrating the Emporia energy monitoring device with the Emporia charger.

    Good review. I agree. I've had my Autel since the end of May. This thing rocks! One thing you didn't mention is that the charge current is adjustable in 1 amp increments from 6 amps up. Nice when I want to try to keep my kWs within the capacity of my solar panels. Or just lighten the load on my electrical panel. I do wish the cable was more flexible because I have kind of a narrow space to coil it. It's not hard, but it looks untidy. I got mine from another TH-cam reviewer in the original box almost unused for about $100 off.

      I totally forgot about that and that’s a really nice feature especially as owners are having overheating issues at the full 48A. Maybe 44A would be low enough that it wouldn’t overheat for someone

    check out the wallbox pulsar plus, it's 25' in length and with their latest software update their interface is nice and easy to understand.

    Autel had emailed me stating that a new cord is in the works. They are aware of the stiffness issue. I wonder if they will have an exchange program or we will need to spend more for a better cord. Just not sure which one to get. These 2 are both pretty good.

    Chargepoint hands down is the better

    • @TheIoniqGuy
      @TheIoniqGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve used ChargePoint extensively for over a year and I beg to differ. I’ve spent countless hours on the phone with ChargePoint for cloud connection issues. They had to replace mine twice. It’s not worth the premium they charge over other brands. But I will say they have very good customer service. I cannot speak to Autels.

      @@TheIoniqGuy they are offering NACS replacement.

    • @TheIoniqGuy
      @TheIoniqGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did see that. They make swapping cables very simple with there quick connect installation so definitely something to consider if you upgrade cars often. I think they have a nice product I just think they are going to need to lower their prices to compete against the new lower cost players. But, I’d like me your local utility subsidizes a charger, that makes the ChargePoint much more appealing. I only paid about $100 for mine after incentives.

    Great review! Should note that it is manufactured in China. That and a lack of track record for EVSE when I was looking led me to buy another brand.

    Soo many nice new chargers on prime deals. It's sad though I'm still charging max at 31amps before my I5 overheats and derates.

      Right? I feel bad recommending anybody buy a 50A since so many people can’t even charge at 32 or 40

    24c a kw seems high no? I’m in NY and I changed mine to a time of day aid I think overnight I pay I think around 8c and day I pay like 16c

    • @TheIoniqGuy
      @TheIoniqGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      24c is after all delivery and administrative fees. Take your bill and divide by the number of kWh you use per month, it’s probably higher than you think

    • @mowcowbell
      @mowcowbell 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yikes! My per kWh charge including fees in Oklahoma was .11 cents per kWh (any hour of the day) until last month when it dropped to .09 per kWh due to the decrease in cost of natural gas, and the grid supply is 33% renewable energy (windfarms).

  • @ManfredvonHolstein

    Hmm, Aurel seems to have no ability to link the charging to solar production. As such I would rate it very low. There are better options out there where the charger seamlessly varies the charging amperage to ensure only excess solar production goes into the car and nothing is taken from the grid.

    • @TheIoniqGuy
      @TheIoniqGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a valid point but here in the US with less than 4% of households having solar and probably a small percentage of them able to charge during peak daylight hours if they work from home, it’s a very small number of people that could truly utilize that to its full potential. Of course, any increase in clean energy being directly utilized for transportation is great

    Autel is a chinese company, and they try quite hard to hide that fact when looking at their international websites. People should be aware of this. What each individual chooses to do with this information is their own choice, of course.
