I'm not even from the UK, I'm an Army Veteran, and I want to yell at these rude people so badly. These horses are NOT pets, they're part of the Queen's guard, equal to a K-9 cop here in America. They're essentially petting a soldier on duty. Their human guard partners have the patience of a saint to not tell them to piss off. On top of that, every time someone come up and touches the horses, they're distracting the guard from his job, having to make sure they don't grab the horse's reins or bridle.

I've said the same thing. But without the military classification specifics. I have stated that these are NOT pets, they are the equivalent of a soldier. They are highly trained warhorses. Just like a K- 9 Unit is considered an officer. Would they walk up to a police dog & try to engage it in a game of fetch? Probably not, but with these crowds, who knows?
I don't know why, this is just not common sense.

@@carolinecouch4361 these videos make me cringe and feel claustohobic. It exactly like ripping a K-9 Unit's leash out of an officer's hand & then start trying to yank the dog around.
I think the dog would bite first though, in protection of it's handler.

My favorite starts around 9:45 with a little girl who has her hand IN the horse's mouth while the horse gently nibbles on it! Next woman is bitten within TWO or THREE SECONDS of moving close. Horse knew the difference!
Most animals seem to have a 6th sense, ESP, or something about people. I found out decades ago if I thought something like "Come here" while looking at a dolphin or fish, they would swim over to me. Tested it at aquariums in Chicago, New Orleans, and Tampa. Probably 90% visited me. Zoo animals didn't, only swimmers. LOL
Check out 'animals interacting with humans at zoos and aquariums' or some such for many fun videos.

I love the horses that bite and the soldiers that YELL! Watching this made me feel so good! This is NOT a petting zoo. People need to get a clue. I am not normally maniacal, however, when people are stupid, sometimes they get taught in the most perfect way. IF the peeps paid attention to someone besides themselves they would see those before them get bitten, they would not stand so close or try to "touch the horsie"!

You’ve got to love Arnie. He’s read the sign - he knows it says he can bite if he wants to. And very often he does want to - but he’s very selective. He tolerates the little ones stroking and petting him - he just bites their parents for letting them.
I watched one video where a tourist got too close and Arnie casually stomped his hoof onto his foot then looked the other way as if he’d no idea why he was yelling. That was one occasion where the guard couldn’t resist a grin.
Hope he’s feeling better cos in a recent video he started weaving to let his rider know there was something wrong and he picked up the message straight away and took him straight back to the stables. I know those horses get the very best of care so I hope Arnie has fully recovered.

First of all, let me say that as an American I don’t always understand what the guards jobs are and what they do. Second of all as someone from a military background I can see that their service is vitally important to protecting the previous queen and now the king and all of those in the palace. I appreciate the guards as they work and the incredible training that must happen for those horses to be in service. I don’t believe the people that come to visit realize what is actually happening. It seems that people just don’t really get what’s going on with these guards and their roles as military men and women.

So many continued to stand there after he nipped or pushed them away. What fascinates me is how he picks and chooses those he likes, as well, and let's them know it's okay to touch him. It makes me wonder what kind of perception horses have, and what they are able to sense through smell.

@@murielvaillancourt3855what didn’t you understand in the signs preventing the public of the danger that might occur by approaching, touching and petting the horses?! The sign is there for a very good reason and if the people are too dense to understand the very deep message in it, it’s their problem… not the guard’s and certainly not the horse’s, their’s.
Anyway, tourists shouldn’t touch the horses. If they do it’s at their own risk (the signs are there for a reason) and the little girl, who has been bitten, can blame the stupidity and carelessness of her parents for what happened, NOT THE GUARD!

2:08 this is what we mean when we talk about a horse pinning his ears back.
People often confuse a horse who has his ears POINTED to the back with PINNED ears.
In the first case, a horse is attentive to the sounds behind him. Usually when they are dozing of a bit. Theirs eyes will keep track of what happens around them, and the ears will cover their blind spot...behind them.
But when a horse pins his ears back, they lay way more flat on its head and neck. After that will come a bite or kick.
And believe me, the bites in the video are still even considered 'nips' or warning bites in a horses vocabulary.
'I told you to back of'
And if that last warning is ignored, a horse will attack.
