    Last one is used to expand a tire for looking for holes

      Except not looking for holes. Rather repairing the hole. Opens the tire wide enough so you can get in to place a patch.

  • @m16ty

    The last one is a tire bead expander. I have one and use it all the time. Once the tire is off the wheel, this tool opens up the tire to give you more room to apply a patch. Mine is broken on the end where the spoon is. I would assume the spoon is to aid in removing the tire from the wheel.

    The First one is for leather, Made by CS Osborne, For punching hole and making slot and punching hole in leather flap to fit over "Sam Browne" studs, The sliding fence was for depth, the rotating barrel was also used for depth if fence was in the way. This tool 'may have been made by the older O.S Osborne co also. Rare Tool indeed.

    1. Button hole maker, my Gran used to have one. I think it was something Gramps used for leather, or heavy canvas. never saw it used. 2. Slide hammer/Peg puller for something specific? 3. Looks like its for making a tube or armoured wire end back to dia?? 4. I am pretty sure its a tyre spreader? The old cross ply tyres had side walls that were as tough as old boots! You needed a spreader to get in to inspect them or repair a split/damage. But you could do that because they had inner-tubes that you just replaced rather than spending £150 on a new tyre like I had to the other week when I picked up a nail close to the sidewall!!!!!!! Throw away society these days, Plastic bottles, kettles that you cant replace the element, taps( faucet) that you cant replace the washer, and washing machines with plastic tubs and sealed in bearings!!!! Is it only me that likes to fix things????? Ah....Can you help me off this soapbox someone? :-)

    #1 Button hole punch for leather work.

  • @mountainhowitzer
    @mountainhowitzer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is a harness maker's tool , used to cut holes in the traces and other harness items. It acts like a button hole cutter. The hole cut at the end of the cutter keeps the slit from traveling further than you want. You might also drill a hole at the end of a crack in sheet metal to prevent further spreading of the crack.

    The last one is a bead spreader it's a tool commonly used in a tire shop mostly for commercial or Industrial use. It is used In tire repair to hold the outer bead out once halfway dismounted so you can get in there and repair with ease instead of dismounting the whole tire it holds the outer bead away from the rim. I use one in our shop every day.

    2. Specialty slide hammer
    3. Tire removal/seating tool

  • @noe616
    @noe616 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    My guesses:
    1 ) 0:20 The first tool is a leather or vinyl notcher for rapidly cutting measured sized notches around the edge of the sheet of the material. The depth stop serves to control how far into the material the cutter notches.
    pbs.twimg.com/media/DNVz6bRU8AYtZx5.jpg
    J Wiss & Sons Button notcher
    pbs.twimg.com/media/DNW2DkOU8AA_lBX.jpg
    *Donald D'Egidio - you got it.* In your pictures I can clearly see the brass anvil part has hollowed-out areas which prevents the leather from being pinched, and at that spot the leather won't be cut. It's a perfect design for button holes, and for notches like I described above when the brass anvil is turned to where the hollowed-out area is forward. P.S. I didn't see your post.
    2 ) 1:19 This delicate hammer type extraction tool is not home made. I have no idea what it's used for. My first impression is that it's for breaking loose tight turbine or compressor blades of a turbine engine. The closest thing it could be is an injector puller. (That idea came from the comments below)
    Universal injector puller with slide hammer. th-cam.com/video/mVfcABjco0E/w-d-xo.htmlm13s
    3 ) 2:12 It's a open ended wrench for tightening standard 6 sided nuts for something that has a hydraulic line, fuel line, or electrical line, or a metal shaft that comes through. Those aren't rollers, but are pivoting gripper teeth that are spring loaded which allow for a ratcheting action. Ingenious.
    CAM-LOC Swagelok Roller Cam Flare Wrench pbs.twimg.com/media/DNWkR7jVQAA_jNI.jpg
    4 ) 3:00 It's a medieval torture device - wait they had no aluminum back then. It has tire bead profile shape when this tool is closed. ( google search: aluminum tire spreader tool ) It's a $60 Ken-Tools tire spreader tool, you paid $5.
    pbs.twimg.com/media/DNWIGODUQAAlJPc.jpg

    I think the first one is for cutting button holes in heavy cloth, coats perhaps or leather.
    I think the wrench is for shrinking the end of a tube, probably copper so that it can be slid into another tube for joining.
    The last I suspect is for fitting or removing tyres.
    I have no idea about the slide hammer thing. It looks as though it slides over something that needs to be pulled off. I was thinking spark plug boots, but it is way too big, maybe waterproof boots on high voltage equipment, or perhaps something pneumatic or hydraulic, something to do with milking machines?

    The first item is a hole punch for flaps that are retained by being forced over a stud post with a ball end. They were common on pouches, holsters, bags and as already mentioned Sam Browne belts. The manual hammer driven version is still made by CS Osbourne and is called a pippen punch. I am doubtful that this is an osbourne tool as I have a lot of CS Osbourne and H R Osbourne tools and not a single one is not stamped with the makers mark.

  • @CharlesHuse

    The 1st item shown is a specialized punch for cutting button holes in leather or canvas. The blade cuts the slot, while if you look just behind the blade, you will see a punch for putting in the small hole at the end. The anvil part rotated to adjust the length of the slot cut by the blade. Only the portion supported by the anvil would be cut.

    Looks like the first one has a lot of different answers in the comments so I'm going to give it a shot since I didn't see my guess (didn't read all the comments just the first 10 or so that showed up)
    - it is a tailor tool for cutting button slots in coats and jackets (they get stitched afterwards around the edge), the rotating anvil is to set the length of the slit based on how large the button diameter is.
    if anyone guessed it beforehand, sorry, i did not see your comment.

    1 for joining pieces of lead together 2) for putting tape of some kind onto a round surface for instance applying carbon fibre to the outside of a cylinder, 3 hand device for stretching small tyre beads over rims home made tool..... for removing pulleys off shafts with the moving part as a slide hammer?

    Number 2 looks like a homemade magazine well guide template for Machining the inside of a magazine well in some form of firearm. It does not look as if it was designed to pull anything because the sliding part doesn't have much distance to gain up enough speed to impact like a slide hammer.

    Fourth is a Ken-Tool tire spreader to hold open tire beads while you repair a tire. They work but a field modification is to drill a hole through the top of the inner jaw frame for a pin to hold it secure while in use. They have a bad habit of springing open while in use.
