I like both versions. But the person ahead of me said it right without a Bob Ezrin there would be no Detroit Rock City and no shouted out loud. But I also agree with Peter about cutting out the kids.
he is right. I hated the production on Destroyer. One of my least favorite Kiss albums. The original Kiss has always been a simple, raw, garage kick ass hard rock band. Bob way over produced them. Peter is 100% right. They should've taken out all of those effects for the re release and put Beth with just an acoustic guitar like the way it sounded on the Phantom Of The park movie.
The story Ace tells. they went into the studio to record destroyer and Bob had a mountain of coke on the sound board and introduced Ace and Peter to it…after that Peter just went downhill until kiss had to fire him..some people can do coke and be fine others like Peter instant addiction first line sad I wish Pete all the best though he was a giant part of my childhood
I think Ezrin like other producers wanted to give the album some of the new gear and mastering capabilities of today that they never had back in the day. Stephen Wilson has been remastering and remixing classic records from the 70s, they all sound great !
There also wouldn't be a Beth. Sure, there's that old Chelsea version, but that never would have been a hit. without Ezrin's Beth, there may not have been a Kiss after this album.
Destroyer's production is soft imho. The best kiss album production is by far RNRO..Peter's drums are right in your face, gut punching and bombastic. This is also due in part to the sizes he used, using a 14x12 marching snare drum, which has both bottom end, and high end crack. Guitars are crunchy and ear splitting. Dean De Leo of STP mimicked a lot of Ace's tones, as well as Jimmy Page's. That whole entire album is probably the best one in terms of sound and production. It also gave them 3 hit singles in Dr. Love, Hard Luck Woman, and Love em and leave em.
I remember as a 15 yr old enjoying Rock And Roll Over much more that the previous Destroyer but Kiss Alive is the best thing they ever did, more serious heavy rock. By 76 though there was a hell of a lot of competition what with Rush, Nugent, Aerosmith, Trower, Lizzy so I started moving away from Kiss a little.
Yeah but Paul and Gene were all business (and still are) and they wouldn't have cared about the drugs if both he and Ace were able to play quality shows.
@@Claytoonzcom that's true, as much as Paul hated Ace, he was one of the reasons people came to see kiss. Overall I do like Tommy but Ace paved the way for many musicians today.
Destroyer was a ground breaking album for kiss. When your in a band on a album you give 110% from everyone. If you can’t, walk away. He didn’t play in a lot of albums due to drugs and booze
Since ace and Peter were in fact my fav players not just members, even ALIVE! Is tarnished by their behaviours. KISS had three albums then couldn’t record, then finally Revenge and Carnival was a 4 piece band again. As a hardcore fan this band is wild. Peter and Ace did more damage with thesepathetic interviews than Paul and Gene ever did selling out. Makes sense why Gene and Paul keep KISS going without them. I’d do it out of spite for the rest of my life too.
Waaah waaah being in KISS DESTROYER era was such a nightmare compared to being in a great band that struggled and didn't make it!! Waaah waah! I'll trade with ya Peter!!
I noticed a couple days ago that Destroyer cover is a copy of Shiva the Destroyer of worlds. Look at the pictures side by side of Shiva kicking the legs….
@Geraldo-ro9rc of course not but again how can every recording be a nightmare ? Peter got me started on drums , always be grateful for that ,just stating the obvious.
@Geraldo-ro9rc he said Bob put him through hell, I guess the recording process was tough .It's not like there's any complicated parts so maybe it's the production. The drums on that album are basic.
@@SalMichael The drums arent basic at all, its just that bob made him play a more straight forward style for some reason. I preferred his playing previous.
Always the woe is me Peter. You had one thing to do that brought you fame and fortune beyond your wildest dreams and you complain. No wonder Paul and Gene want nothing to do with him.
If you’d done a modicum of research, you’d have discovered that Peter took lessons with legendary drummer Gene Krupa. And I already know you’re clueless and wondering Gene who? 😂
The more I hear Peter Criss the less content I discover as his speeches are purely hollow bitterness blaming others for his fokkups. Like an entitled teenager, never took responsibility for his actions. If it weren’t for Eddie Trunk, people would have totally forgotten him like a disposable member of Fleetwood Mac.
I never liked Kiss. They look ridiculous in the space clown makeup and costumes. Their studio recordings sound dull and flat, and the live albums sound better. Highly overrated like The Beatles.
@sjsjs-y9w The Beatles went full psychedelic after their manager overdosed on pain killers. In my opinion, their manager was holding them back from just letting them be themselves.
Destroyer was a masterpiece, they couldn’t have done it without Bob Ezrin!
Trunk loves to hear his voice way too much.
Trunk is conditioned to fill time.
Yes he does!
That album was magic when I was 10 years old.
I like both versions. But the person ahead of me said it right without a Bob Ezrin there would be no Detroit Rock City and no shouted out loud. But I also agree with Peter about cutting out the kids.
Destroyer, 4 great songs and that's about it
Detroit rock city, King of the night time world, Shout it out loud, i guess?
Which one is the fourth?

OMG! Ezrin worked w/ Peter to play better than he ever did before...what a nightmare!

straighter, not necessarily better

Put the crack pipe down. Destroyer was awesome!
Agreed , destroyer was way over produced. Rock n Roll over was 10 times better.
Yeah... some people don't know when to leave well enough alone!
Listen to the Dynasty shows live - Peter’s playing is already dumbed down. But drugs will do that to oneself.

Wow, that’s interesting.
You do great videos!!!
But in this one the mixing is not ok.... One can hardly hear the dialogue.....
Thanks for your time and passion for KISS...
Without Bob Ezrin, KISS wouldn’t be the band they are today. No Detroit Rock City and no Shout it out Loud.
BS. Kramer was better
@@Geraldo-ro9rc For sure
I basically discredited everhthing he does as a whole other band. They basically have 5 albums.

Ace did not do all the solos. It's common knowledge Dick Wagner contributed some guitar work.
Regarding Peter...(just my opinion) KISS 1st album up to and including Alive was jungle big cat drumming. Anything after was domesticated kitty.
