These videos really help me out as a new mushroom farmer I’m just starting with farmer markets with a simple sterilizer oyster mushrooms and button but I want a temperature and humidity controlled environment
you can make that same plastic out of vegetables. They have clear plastic rolling papers now for 'herbal cigarettes' derived from recycled vegetable plant matter, i believe its corn stalk stripped to the cellular level and then made into clear paper basically.
Also you 2 above, consider it is very easy to recycle that and reuse it for the next batch if you have the proper machinery to do so locally, or at a recycle center in most 1st world cities now.
We have in the US states plastic bag made from corn called Natur-bags. "Certified compostable by the BPI (Biodegradable Products Institute) and AIB-Vin^otte Meets ASTM D6400 and EN 13432 standard specifications for compostable plastics Meets requirements of California AB 1972 (2008) / SB 567 (2011) and Minnesota HF 403 (2010) Does not contain any polyethylene or other non-degradable plastics"
You rock man. Shared your channel to a ton of peeps growing herb but now getting into mushrooms for co2 tents and extra healthy food. Please keep them coming. Respect.
Those are free and wild growing in cow fields all over this country. I don't need them when its naturally free in cow fields my guy, but thanks for the crazy random offer of medicine.
First of all, love your videos, love your energy. I used to work in a warehouse and we wrapped a.lot of stuff on pallets and recieved a lot of stuff on pallets that was not wrapped properly. I would HIGHLY recommend getting plastic straps that go through the pallet and up and over the product. Get cardboard pieces big enough to cover the sides and top then use the straps, then wrap in plastic. It'll keep it stable in transit and make it less likely to rip the plastic.
I was expecting him to say turkey tails go good with butter and turmeric lol. You've got epic energy man. I love your videos. If you have a website, start plugging it, I want to check out what yall sell etc.
@@valdemarjohannesson2720 I've wondered that. I can get that easily. I do grow a lot on straw right now. Mostly oysters. But my lm will only colonize part of it and never fruits. I'm thinking because it's straight sawdust pellets
What about reusing the bags? When you just top fruit them, you could sterilize them again with fresh hardwood sawdust? Really enjoy you channel, watched every video at least one time and started my own grow:)
You could but at this scale it's not really worth it, you can get 3/4 flushes out of each block and they tend to fruit better out of a new cut on each side of the bag. I would reuse them on a small scale though, the PTFE filter patches still work after a few cycles of pressure cooking. I've started using the biodegradable bags now so I feel better about disposing of them knowing they'll break down and end up as humus only with no microplastic.
everything especially at a scale of this size is very time sensitive so its easier to just throw em out instead of having to wash and reuse, thats also why they dont use jars for grain spawn (jars are used of course for liquid cultures)
I have learned so much from these vids they are so easy to watch. I have ambitions of starting a very small myco business and this inspires me more than I can say.
Hey! Just a thought for you, try putting a strip of cardboard or something like that in between the plastic wrap and your sterile bags so when the recipient of the pallet wants to open it up, they have a place to run their knife to cut away the plastic without cutting the bag. Just an idea!
Thank you! Have you considered maybe a "gaylord" for shipping as an intermediary bulk method? It's a pallet sized box or bin, often with a lid, like watermelon ship in for example. They come in different wall strengths and can be found used from produce distributors or produce markets; even pillows may ship in gaylords. This way, the sterile bags are protected from nicks and scuffs from next-door freight on a truck, and it loads in bulk like your atmospheric sterilizer, so it is speedy. I hope that helps you guys. Thanks!
What do you guys do with your used up substrate? Is there a way to compost it? Thanks so much for these videos, I love them so much and I’ve been really getting into growing my own mushrooms this year. It’s so cool to see updates from this channel as I continued on my journey!
Question about the substrate for reshi. I know it's a little bit different if I'm not mistaken with the way it needs to be handled? Any tips on the type of substrate?
Thank you so much Mike! If you can: When do you find it is time to remove the plastic from a maturing shiitake block? Working my first two and i'm nearing the browning stage. Don't want to pull it out too early and dry the block. :[
With Lions Mane second and more flushes. Am I supposed to slice different sides of the block after each flush? I'm having contams after I harvest them :((
like always awesome video! iv been trying to find a course online to get more in to it and be able to grow myself, could you help giving me any sort of guidance on where and how i can study this?

Hey man! How do you do it that your mushroom blocks are so clean? Dont you ever get contamination like tricho or bacteria? Especially that your reishi is staying in your growroom for so long! Did you say 5 months of fruiting? wow! Do you use hydrogen peroxide in your misters? Or whats the trick? :) cheers and good luck. All looking so beautiful

How do you handle air exchange in the tents? Where do you dump the spore filled air? Do you filter the fresh air going into the tents?
Thank you man for sharing the knowledge!

Hey so if a mushrooms active properties are only activated when heated, how does drying and powder form work in terms of medicinal qualities?
