My favorite outdoor moment was the last day of deer hunting I ever did with my grandpa before he passed. He’d been taking his kids and grandkids to the same area of the north woods for over 50 years. The last time we went, it was almost like he knew he’d never get the chance to go out with us again. He spent every second with his grandkids, doing his best to get as much time with each and every one of us as possible. He really was the reason I learned to love the outdoors.

About 3 years ago I was up in the mountains of Jalisco, Mexico hunting with my uncle. We were looking for deer, out of nowhere this crazy looking cat ran by us. I thought it was a baby mountain lion. After getting home and doing research and looking at so many pics. I found out it was a jaguarundi I didn’t even know those things existed. Beautiful little creature. I’ve been following and learning all about animals from Forrest and this channel for some time now. Love the podcast! Just a bunch of guys shooting the shit about animals and life experiences

My favorite outdoor experience saving peregrine falcons. I'm a high rise window cleaner in the city a family of falcons have made a office building roof there home. I helped some researchers put in a permanent nest for the falcons and defending them from the adult falcons while they where working on saving the babies and putting in the nest and collecting information. It was amazing and no person or falcon was hurt.

Favorite outdoor moment: my wife and I were spreading the ashes of our golden retriever in a slot canyon on the north side of the Brooks range. We heard rustling on the ledge above us, and were able to witness a lynx stocking a handful of birds. The lynx leapt from the ledge crashing into a bush where he proceeded to feast. It was amazing, and we have not seen it lynx since.

When I was a boy, I went moose hunting at lake Louise, Alaska. My uncle and Father harvested a caribou and a beautiful bull moose. On our way back to base camp, a storm hit the lake, and 2 of our 3 boats sank. Amazingly, we all survived, and the last floating boat had all the meat and the trophy.

My favorite wildlife encounter(that I will never forget) happened a few years ago in La Paz, Mexico. We were finishing up swimming with wale sharks and getting back on the boat, the four other people in our group went first, then me and my brother and then my mom. As I stepped onto the boat I heard the captain shout out a warning and turned and saw the 36 some feet wale shark coming behind my mom,The wale came right underneath her and lifted his head, we heard a scream, and long story short my mom accidentally rode a wale shark for about a minuet.

For the outdoor moment, this sentence doesn't count.
I was taking my step daughter out on Raystown lake kayaking, she got her anchor stuck in about 20-30ft of water. She was so apologetic about a 15lb anchor that we may lose if the line snaps so I told her it wasnt that big of a deal since I had my snorkel gear on me . I swam down following the line to get the anchor and she was so worried about the giant muskie in the lake eating me. I was more worried about the catfish that are the size of me at 6ft 2, but I swam down and got the anchor in pitch black just using feeling to grab it, I had it and didn't realize how heavy 15lbs is in a fresh water lake, but I made it back up with her cheering me on from the moment she seen my silhouette under the water.
I was her hero, I felt so special to me that she didn't lose a $15 anchor that she could barely afford to replace. Don't get me wrong. I'm going to replace it for her but she really didn't want to lose it. She's hooked 43-in musky in that lake and got towed around on a kayak. It's insane.

Not be offended, but In Mumbai slumps most people are educated, but they are poor. the problem is having a house in Mumbai is very expensive. there are whole lot of real estate empty and are for sale, but most of them are out of reach and is ridiculously expensive. Most people in such areas have joint family and more children you have more earner you have.

My favorite outdoor moment was at night in the NY woods for military training, a full grown black bear managed to sneak right up to our security line (and we had NODS), and got within 10ft of a guy. He started screaming "BEAR!" and began firing blanks to try and scare it off, and it responded by growling. I was probably 30 away but I swear I could feel that growl go through my chest. It was the most terrifying but also coolest outdoor moment/animal experience I've ever had.

My favorite outdoor moment has to be when I climbed Uncompahgre Peak in the Uncompahgre National Forest, CO when I was 13 or 14. I was with my scout troop up until we got separated on the hiking trail because they kept stopping to take breathers and breaks and every time they did I decided to keep trekking forward. I beat the second person in my group to the top of the peak by 45 minutes and my father by about 2 hours! I almost ran out of water along the way but luckily I had caught up to an older couple and their dog that was literally about to pour out one of their extra Nalgene bottles full of Gatorade due to the extra weight just as i approached. If I had stopped with my troop and not pressed on, I never would have caught up with them and when I finally reached the top, not only did it truly feel like a life accomplishment, but I also got the experience of standing atop a 14,321’ peak all by myself and that is absolutely a moment I will never forget.

My favorite outdoor moment was throwing pebbles at a grizzly bear on the tip of the Alaskan Peninsula. I was with a buddy and my girlfriend and we were on the beginning of a boat dock ~15 feet above the ground. A young male grizzly bear began making his way to us, but my buddy who is a bear guide insisted we stand our ground instead of getting in the truck and began throwing small rocks at the bear. These rocks were no bigger than an inch, but when i made contact with the bears head from about 15 yards away it FREAKED and ran nonstop until it was out of sight. I guess it didnt understand how we touched him from far away. The bear was in town limits, so it wasn't just mindless harassment, bear hazing is important in these remote communities, we were in Cold Bay.

My favorite outdoor moment is when i took my oldest son trout fishing. We were in Colorado at a little lake in the mountains. We had caught a couple small ones and then he gets a bite and sets the hook. He was using a little pole and thought he just was hung up on a rock but it was a 5 pound+ trout. Watching him light up when he finally got it in was the best moment for me.

My favorite outdoor moment was off the coast of Friendship Maine, out past the three mile line, while fishing for lobster. Looking up and just seeing an enormous humpback come almost fully out of the water not even 50 yards from us. And seeing another or the same one maybe 20 yards just come out of the water a little bit, it got my heart racing like no other! Being on the water is like a completely different world, where you can’t see land and truly anything could happen..

Favorite Outdoor moment would have be when I was a teenager my friend Ryan and I went adventuring with our snowboards after a Nor'easter in the woods around his house. We walked for miles in the snow searching for some backcountry and got lost a bit, After what seemed like days we finally found a decant hill and shredded it a few times. It felt great after the long trudging through deep snow, but we quickly found out we were right down the road from Ryan's house and seemingly walked for miles and hours in 2 feet of snow in a big ole' circle for a hill that was a few mins away in actuality. It really is all about the journey not the destination wouldn't take that day back we still talk about it decades later when we shred.

My favorite outdoor moment was cultivating a field behind my house, getting it ready for sowing corn this very spring. A black pheasant flew in front of my tractor, European pheasants are red but this was a rare melanistic variant. A couple of common buzzards were by my side hunting mice and worms, and a red fox was looking at me from an edge of the field close to forest. And then two huge storks descended from above, chilling by my side completely unfazed by the tractor's noise, looking for something to eat and probably resting from a return from Africa. It was like having my own zoo but with all of the animals free and happy, and it was in my back yard.

My favourite experience was a butterfly mass migration in my backyard. In 2016 I believe, at my property at the time (5acres with a creek going through it), there was a huge migration of blue tiger butterflies. They were everywhere! My father and I revegetated the property so it was like watching butterflies in a rain forest. It was a beautiful experience.

Favorite outdoor moment was on my honeymoon in Washington state. Had driven out to a place called Cape Flattery where the Pacific Ocean meets the Strait of Juan De Fuca. Just an unbelievable coastal landscape and a view of the Cape Flattery Lighthouse which is on an island a few hundred yards off the coast. We witnessed a sea lion with a huge salmon in its mouth breech right off the shore and also saw a sea otter that kept diving down for sea urchins to munch on. I love seeing raw wildlife in action and it's just a moment in time I will never forget.

    One of my favorite stories:
I went to Big River State Forest to find six lined race runners (not common in northern Illinois) with my wife, young son, and baby girl. About 45 minute in or so I found a a bunch of ticks climbing my sons leg. My wife is totally freaked out and says we are leaving, so we turn around. I spot more on her as she runs away with our daughter held up over her head. We see a bunch of lizards on our way back to the car and drove home in our underwear without getting bit. My son still teases my wife about it.

My favorite outdoor experience is one of my first experiences camping as a child, age 5, at lake San Antonio, CA (summer of 2000). Family friends invited my family to join them on a week long wakeboarding trip which we happily accepted. As we arrived we were warned of ferral pigs roaming the area and to not leave food out at our campsites, which acknowledged but didn't think it would be an issue since we would keep coolers and food in out cars. On the FIRST evening after the adults enjoyed a multitude of margaritas we all retired to our tents after packing everything away. At 2AM we woke up to a herd of pigs devouring all of our food out of the back of our family van, they managed to open the trunk AND the cooler leaving nothing but watermelon rinds and stains all over our van...
I would say more, but we were able to salvage the trip with out family friends food.

i was in 2nd year of college when my friends and i went to gokarna for the weekend. It was around midnight, we went to the beach put a big sheet on the sand and laid down. It was a clear sky with no moon and the shack lights behind us were lit off. As we kept staring at the night sky, more and more stars came into view. The night sky looked like a map of constellations, we stargzed till dawn and tripped on the universe, never experienced anything like it again.

My favorite outdoor moment so far happened last Thursday 10/26/23 while I was at work. I was cleaning stalls and one of my coworkers, who was riding her horse in the arena, calls out to me and says that there's a bald eagle in the pasture. I stopped mucking, walked over and sure enough there was a mature bald eagle in there eating on some prey. I was struck with awe because this was the first time I had ever seen one in real life and for about 15 minutes I watched it eat, took some photos and videos, and was able to get within 100 ft of it. What makes this event even more amazing is that this took place in western North Carolina where the bald eagle is not at all common.

My fav outdoor experience just happened recently. Picture nighttime northwoods Wisconsin, open clearing surrounded by woods near the st croix river. Watching the stars and listening to the coyotes yelling in the valley below. Then out of nowhere hearing a guttural scream that I can only describe as a large woman being murdered just where the woods begin to meet the clearing. Cue me getting ready to meet Sasquatch but secretly freaking the f out on the inside as it was just hubs and I in the pitch black. Later after googling I learned it was a bobcat scream. Scary but one of the coolest moments of my life.

My favorite outdoor story is when we caught a small like 12 inch bonnet head shark while wade fishing, we unhooked it and released it and it chased my buddy down 3 different times and actually bit him once. We told story’s about how angry that little baby shark was for a couple years and one day while fishing in a spot not far from the original spot that same buddy was chased down by a 3 foot bonnet head shark. 10 minutes of fighting off this shark while trying to wade back to land, kicking, punching, stabbing, and whacking it it wouldn’t stop. We regularly have come in contact with bull sharks in Tampa Bay but I’ve never ever seen a shark as aggressive as this bonnet head shark. We still think to this day that it was the same shark caught years ago that when he saw us again he took his chance to attack the man that caught him all those years ago.

330ft long ferry we were supposed to take home was canceled due to the big waves so I took the dingy with the old russian 10hp outboard out in Lake Huron. I was jumping waves and got dumped out of the boat and the throttle was stuck wide open so the boat was doing circles. I tried to swim after it thinking I could climb back in but decided I would probably lose a leg to the prop. I ended up swimming about an hour back to shore in 50deg water. Favorite outdoor moment ever ❤

My favorite outdoor moment was when I was a high school student from America living in Phuket, Thailand. The biology class had a 3 day camping trip at the northernmost point on Phuket Island. They have a nature conservatory and mangrove forest. We did a mix of biological related practicals. Counting and marking crabs, looking at plant diversity, etc. The social bonds between friends, and mentorship from our professors was amazing. My absolute favorite moment was when we snuck out of our tents to stroll the beach at night. Some other students and I found ourselves sitting on the beach in pitch darkness. Only the sounds of the water, and stars in the sky.

So this one time, a couple of buddies of mine and I were exploring some massive caves near Baker CA. We were off roading in my grandfather beat up toyota truck and we ended up shredding up a tire. We searched for literal hours for the stupid little key for the lug nut spare tire, ended up having to spend the night (cause I'm not leaving my grandpa's truck in the middle of the desert). The next morning, after I finally recovered from what I what I believe was my first hangover cause my buddies and i downed the botttle of rum and 18 rack after we decided were stranded. We ended up finding the key buried in the center consol.

We had an issue with a bear snooping around campsite and we stayed awake to see it and startled the bear one night. We did end up startling the bear later that night it came back to smell us out in our tent. We were packed in there like sardines and the bear stuck his entire head in sniffed us all and he ended up touching the kid that was closest to the door flap and scared him so badly he ended up peeing his sleeping bag. Yet, we all had signed up for a survival merit badge that ended up having us camp in the area where the bear nested.

My favorite outdoor experience was, kayaking down the little river in North Carolina. Me and a group of friends planned to kayak 7 miles to the next launching point on the river. 2 of us decided to race and ended up passing the where we were supposed to stop. We tried to turn back around once we noticed, needless to say i flipped the kayak trying to beat the current. So we had to go down the river another 7 miles to the next spot to get out, ended up being the most beautiful scenery, that i wouldn't of ever seen if we were paying attention instead of kayak racing. 😂

1977, was in high school in Oklahoma, I heard our cat screaming and trying to claw through the door. Went outside and there was a young Golden eagle perched on top of our station wagon staring at her, wish there were phone cameras then, was a fearless f..king big bad bird and stared at me too before finally flying off after a minute, only time I have ever been scared of a bird 🦅

    My favourite outdoor experience.
Made friends with a dolphin for about two and half years. He would wait for me at the barge every morning and follow me around the lake I worked in. We would swim around together, play with different things like floats and he would even bring me fish.
    I have plenty of footage
It was an Australian humpback dolphin

My favorite outdoor experience is one time when my highschool friends and I went camping. We arrived at our spot deep in the woods and on the ground in sticks was written "HI RON" (one of my friend's names). Obviously we were really creeped out but for some reason decided to stay there anyway. We found out about a week later it turned out my friend had told his brother and his brother told their dad about our spot so they decided to try to scare us. 😂

I have heard a lot of people “finding new species” by separating an already known species into two say that in most cases it’s important to help preserve the species, because there are now less of them when split and they can be added to endangered or of concern, then people are able to protect them, people are doing this with crocodiles and king cobras and I’m sure a lot of other animals

My "favourite" terrifying moment when I was about 11 years only on a family holiday to colombia, visiting hacienda napoles (Pablo escobars private menagerie) watching a hippo leave the river maybe 10m ahead and completely disappear into the river and being confused about why hippos were in colombia 😂

    Fav outdoor moment:
Me and my friend were on a hike after a snow fall and we spotted coyote tracks. We followed the tracks off trail and heard a growl about 50 yards in (off the trail) but saw nothing after first. Suddenly,I turn around and theres this coyote that was all black with deep yellow eyes. It was about german Sheppard sized and standing over its burrow staring at us,about another 30 yards out. Thankfully,it ran off after staring at me and my buddy for what felt like forever, but it was such a primal moment of what our ancestors must of felt like encountering predators in the wild.

Favourite outdoor moment: Years ago when I was young and travelling the Highlands of Scotland with my brother. Walked for hours with no signs of human interference, silence in nature. Seen a small animal at twilight with many eyes and 8 tusks across the trail we needed to walk. Fearing for our lives, creeping closer, it turned out to be a bush and the stuff we were smoking had completely tripped our minds! 😅😂

My favorite outdoor moment is most definitely moving probably close to 50+ snakes in a 1 summer from a construction site in central texas. it was being was very rapidly being built on and i knew i had only the summer most likely. over the summer i moved maybe 10 species of snake sneaking in just before it got dark and staying about a half hour after to collect and relocate them. as far as non herp finds i had heard many mountain lions and had 1 brief confrontation with a bobcat.

Unfortunate outdoor moment. After a date went to a local beach, walked about a mile to secluded spot and got down to business. Walked back to car in dark to discover no keys or bank cards in my pockets anymore. Had to walk back in the now typically British rain and search the sand in dark for my keys and cards. After a long time all was good, we were soaked, but has now been my wife for 10yrs so must have made a good impression!

Went up to the Redwood forest, and my sister found 4 banana slug worms, she grabbed them and brought them back to camp. Well i knew what they were and what they did, i couldnt stop laughing. My father on the other hand didnt, and was trying to use gasoline to get the gew off her hands. 😅 My mother was not laughing either because of the foul language dad was using the entire time.
Sister was absolutely devastated and and in tears from dad yelling and my historical laughing. 😂

I hiked with my boyfriend and friend to a beautiful lookout over a gorge. The different ages stacked on top of each other, we all fell quiet while we looked at the colors. It was so peaceful away from the city. Then, the quiet was startled by the fart from my boyfriend that echoed continuesly thru the rocks. Scared the birds out of the trees and i nearly went over the ledge I was laughing so hard.

46:12 I have read and listened to many interviews with young Japanese people as to why they aren't dating, let alone reproducing. The most common answer is the work hours not leaving enough time for even just 'me time', let alone time to adequately put towards a relationship, and far too little to put towards raising kids. The next is the price of living and that they only get paid once a month, the end of each month. The third most popular is the population density. 3 problems that can all be fixed, but the people able to fix them are too stuck in traditions that lead to this problem and have ample time and money to allow to date, wed, raise kids, and their kids and grandkids have access to that money, meaning they too have the money and time, not NEEDING to work 10-12-hour days, 5-6 days a week. Which is legit the work schedule for most Japanese workers. There's a reason there is a specific Japanese word for 'work to death' and why it is seen as honorable and respected to die at work because you have overworked yourself and practically LIVED in your work place.

Do the Kings of the Wild Times check the comments on their podcasts after a few days have gone by? If they do, a heads up for Pat - the fire extinguisher you bought is a 1A10BC. It'll last approximately 6-10 years but it's essentially a water pistol. From a former Fire Marshal Officer, you should really get a 2A10BC for your home my man. If you got any fire safety questions send em my way. Otherwise, keep going guys, love the podcast!

    Outdoor moment: Baby Deer
Location:Small town, Central New Hampshire. 2008 ish
My buddy and I were going to our fishing spot on the local river. We fished from a man made, large boulder retaining hill. While walking up to the location we spook a big deer that was standing at the top of the hill where we fish from. We then hear animal sounds from the bottom of the hill so I look down and a spotted baby whitetail deer had its foot stuck between 2 rocks at the edge of the river. I climbed the rocks down (20-30ft) and had to calm the animal down to manually free the deers foot from being wedged in the rocks. Once released, the deer slipped and struggled to climb the hill, so i picked it up litte a dog and carried it up the hill so it could go find its momma. Needless to say i felt like a hero and my coolest animal experience to date.
