Owens River Gorge: Part 1

This video is the first in a two-parter that I shot this Spring fly fishing for wild brown trout in the Owen's River Gorge just outside of Bishop, California. I was using a dry dropper system and the fish were hungry and eating both. This video covers the first leg of the canyon that is more popular and gets fished more. In the second video, I went in deeper and found some bigger fish!
A quick search online will show you how to access the gorge (you can drive right down to the powerplant and go from there). Be careful, as the ground is very unstable and you will find plenty of stinging nettle and rattlesnakes here most of the year. During the Summer months the canyon bakes like an oven, so be prepared with plenty of water and sun protection as temps regularly soar above 100 degrees. You will probably see rock climbers and other fisherman if you go in the cooler months, so be friendly and always pack out what you pack in!
