  • We can't take this no more!
    Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
    Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

      Could even use Kevin's couch in that configuration. If the two beds were turned ala option A, could the desk go in between since it's a wider space and then keep the wood stove by the closet?

    • @cassiemcmahon3015

      Plus backing the couches into the beds would give the illusion of a tad more privacy if the kids wanted to nap

    • @jessical3151
      @jessical3151 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@cassiemcmahon3015 That's true, in option C you might be able to run a curtain across that area too so when the Murphy beds are down whoever is sleeping can draw them for more privacy and less light.

    Make the addition on the side of the cabin for the goats nice enough to put the pool table in it. When the goats aren't there anymore. C seems like the best fit. A avenged in our do windows and make the sliding glass door into an all weather porch with a couch that makes into a bed extra bedroom.

    Plan C for sure. Enclose the two beds with a wall in line with the walls from the first bedroom and bathroom. Separate the new room with a wall so the kids can also have some privacy. Put the doors for those rooms (pocket doors) on the far left and far right of that new wall so the space in-between the walls can be for a projector screen. This way everyone can have some privacy which would make staying in a small space for a longer period of time a lot easier for everyone.

    I like plan c and a. Enclose all bedrooms. Y'all are going to be cooler next summer in your new cabin. All your goat babies are going to be happy to. Luna sure loves her boys 💕.
    When I was growing up my parents had a pool table to. When more family came over. He made a top to put over the pool table and it was a big dining table. We also used it for table tennis. New ideas for Kevin. So happy for everyone.

    You could go with C, enclosed bedrooms, then use that wall for a projector wall for tv 😄 Also in such a small space, twin sized beds for the two would probably work just fine, freeing up space for a clothing rack or something.

    I think A&C are the same-except the bed & bath are flipped. Since you're going to have adult kids sleeping in the cabin, maybe put 1 bedroom on each side with the bathroom between them. Combine the closet into the laundry room or next to it with a wall separating them so you don't have to go in the laundry to get into the closet. We had a log cabin, and the 2 bedrooms were separated by a wall with the headboards on opposite walls and a dresser to each side. The main room was a kitchen, potbelly stove and a kitchen table. A ladder went up to the loft with 2 full size mattresses on the floor. A storage for bedding was between them with a window above it. As a kid I sat up in bed and knocked my head on that ceiling everytime. We had a big wrap around screen porch with couches. The boys slept on them. The couches inside were also sleepers with pop up hinges for more storage. My mom had 6 of us & my aunt had 8. We had people everywhere. Loved the lake in the summer.

    I t might be helpful to use all your space more productively by checking out Tiny house designs. They do a lot in a small format. Having a wood stove will be important in your location. Nice to have a second source in the colder climate. Maybe look into trundle beds instead of two separate static beds it pulls out only @ sleep time. Like a bunk bed compressed. Another possibility is converting the couch to the beds like trailer designs use. Compressing areas gives more flexibility to set up air mattresses if you have company overnight also.

    More sleeping areas can be achieved by using what the passenger and cruise ships do. They are ceiling beds that can be lowered over a floor bed below it. Using space for beds like this is economical and very smart. Double bed on the floor and single beds above. Surround curtains for privacy and it's done! would use pull-out bed couch types. Then when the sofas are put back up, lots of space to use a table for board games, snacks, drinks etc.

Put the wood stove where the long couch was, maybe do a bump out if there's not enough room to accommodate it :-) I got a wood cook stove a couple years ago and would be hard pressed to give that up living in the woods where it snows - so cozy!
