Ashamed to say I did the same thing but with E85 (flex fuel) I'd never seem it and it was a new station to me. Drove 5 miles and it stated to run rough and in pulled over and figured it out. Towed it home and drained tank, all lines and new filters. It was about a 50-50 mix with diesel and I always use Lucas Tues treatment.
    Got lucky...

Drain the tank and refill with diesel. Cycle the key a few times to get the pump to purge the lines, done. I've 'fixed' several vehicles people put the wrong fuel into and have never taken anything apart. Drain, fill, purge, start. Some diesels will handle a pretty high percentage of gas, many times one can just top off with diesel and go.

DonziGT230 will 3 gallons of gas and about 26 gallons of diesel be I'm to run?

Purging means removing the line on the left side of the engine fuel filter, slipping a tight hose over the exposed filter nipple, sticking the other end of that hose into a bucket and then switching on the ignition, cycling every time the pump shuts off until you get diesel fuel - green - only.

I did this too to my 2015 Silverado 3500HD. I’ve been stressed and busy and didn’t pay attention to what nozzle I grabbed. I put $60.00 in an almost empty tank. Drove it maybe a 1/2 mile and she died. Had her towed. The shop drained the fuel, replaced the fuel filter and out about $50.00 of diesel in her. I got the call that the truck started, they drove it and it was good to go. Got to the shop, the engine cranked like what’s in the video. Finally got it started and started the drive home. Maybe a block away from the repair shop it felt like I put on the brake, the truck bucked and then got power back. Then about a mile down the road did the same thing. This time Engine Power Reduced came up on the display, then Furl Filter Requires Replacing. I so heartbroken that I killed my truck. So after spending $650.00 I have to get it towed to another shop to get checked out. I just hope I haven’t done serious damage to my big beautiful truck. 😭

@@Duramaxdaddy the second shop actually dropped the tank to get all of the unleaded out of the tank. They also purged the fuel system, replaced the fuel filter again, forced a regen of the system. It’s been good after all of that. Thankfully I didn’t have to replace any parts like injectors. It’s been running like normal for the past year.

@@lisabrattoli4283 I’m ashamed to say I just did it for the second time. I did it last summer and again this last Friday. I caught it last time before it made it to the engine. This time not so lucky. I’m in the middle of working on it now.

@@jasoncampbell8797 it’s the worse feeling when you realize what you just did. I didn’t realize it until the tow truck driver smelled the tank. I instantly knew. Thankfully two years later and my truck is still doing good. So glad I didn’t kill the injectors or pump. It could’ve been way worse. Hopefully yours will be good and you won’t have to replace anything. Now when I go to pump fuel I’ll say “green, green, green, green” matching the pump handle to the fuel cap. Lol. People look at me weird but hey it’s saving me from possibly spending thousands on repairs.

Had the same problem just 3 days ago
1 Put 15 ltrs of Petrol in my mercedes as soon as I realised I topped the tank with Diesel .
Ran the car 12 mles it ran perfect .
But I was really worried If I continue running the car I may damage seals or Parts. The car has done 250, 000 miles and I would hate to lose it
    I prayed for help.
I rang a company on line they said their specialised Truck is just 5 minutes from your home .I said "go ahead " he arrived about 15 minutes later the Truck had all the right gear to flush out the contaminated fuel the whole job took about 40 minutes total. cost including Tip and VAT cost.
    £ 300 including 3 Gallons of Diesel
The peace of mind was worth every penny
The operator was also a fully Trained Mercedes Mechanic I can only say that was Divine intervention.

I had a friend fill completely up my truck by accident with regular gas on my 2003 international T444E(basically same as powerstroke 7.3) and nothing happens after 1 mile the truck will not be driveable in fact it barely runs so as soon as the gas came to the injectors the truck will not have any power at all you will go 5 mph max pedal to the metal, then i had to pump out the whole tank and put that fuel in my car and refill with fresh diesel i didnt even change the fuel filter before schedule, this was 5 years ago still have this truck its over 500 000 miles today and runs like a champ. I think what is more dangerous is if you put a smaller amount of gas, the engine will run almost full power and therefore have a chance of damage in this case there is no need to drain everything just buy a pint of 10w30 and pour in the tank to compensate for lubrication loss. The guys that read too many dealer books might disagree but this is verified and not theory.

Unfortunately for me, I joined in on the fun and accidentally put 2.6 gallons of regular gas in the truck (F250 - 6.7 powerstroke). I immediately stopped as soon as I realized what I had done. I don't usually turn off the truck when filling it up since diesel isn't flammable as regular gas. Took it to the dealer, they unfortunately will be dropping the tank, draining the tank, changing fuel filers (no biggy on that), flushing the fuel lines and cleaning/replacing if need be the fuel injectors and filling it back up with diesel. First time I've ever done this. I've had the truck for a 1yr and a half. Unfortunately this is going to cost around 800 for what they are doing. I only hope that the engine isn't F'd. By the looks of this video, I think I should be fine. I wish I had seen this video before though, I would have tried to do exactly what this video shows and would have avoided the dealership dropping the tank. Supposedly it's a 4 hour job but we'll see.

Wondering, with gas being a solvent fuel and diesel an oil fuel; knowing 2 cycle engines use oil added to the gas solvent fuel to make it lubricate: so would per chance adding oil immediately to the fuel if you added gas by accident make it ok enough to run well enough until you can add more diesel a few gal at a time? (of course if a way could be found to mix it in the tank perhaps and aerator tube to cause the whole to mix with the 2 cycle oil so that it "approximates" the diesel fuel as a whole, that would be nice ) . You said it ran about 1 mile as it was : so with the 2 cycle oil inside perhaps going perhaps 10mph then hit the brakes, repeat 10 x , would mix it in the tank well "enough". save alot of effort "IF" it did work. The oil mix: is on the 2cycle oil can .

This can happen to anyone specially on the phone, that should not be used in the forecourt in front of fuel pumps... Sorry had to pick on that particular issue. Haven't seen yet but I'm pretty sure there's specific regulations in US that forbid the use of the phone in those conditions.
Either case to save some headaches always keep in mind that gas and diesel don't mix. When left to rest (15-30 minutes) they clearly separate. With the gas keeping on top due to lower density. As such you could have saved yourself a lot of jerrycans to get it out.
Most vehicles also have an electric lift pump. That can also save the trouble of getting an external pump to take the fuel out. Hope it helps someone. Be well.

8 gallons won't hurt it, For every 5 gallons of gas you put in a diesel tank you put a quart of tranty fluid and continue to fill it up with diesel until the tank is full. Plus the only diesel that will be hut by gas 6.4 PowerStroke because it will kill the fuel pump.

    • @MGarandRiflemen
      @MGarandRiflemen 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well like I said "for every 5 gallons of gas in a diesel, you put a quart of tranty fluid," is true the newer diesel like the 6.4 Powerstrokes, 6.7 Cummins and PowerStrokes, later 5.9 Cummins, and 6.6 Duramax's the LBZ will usually have a few issues, but after the gas gets fully out of the system as time goes by it will just go back to normal. Plus gas in a diesel the gas will clean your pistons and injectors.
