I remember the Adelphi got so much stick from the public when this programme aired. Here they were, cashing-in on what was essentially a crisis. Meanwhile, many locals opened their homes to stranded racegoers, offering their spare bedrooms or whatever they could. The people of Liverpool were the real stars that weekend. The Adelphi just brought shame...
That's why Britannia hotels has reputation of being the worst hotel chain in UK. Only decent one was Edinburgh. Only because they don't take over a historical building and run it to the ground
I have some sympathy with the drunk guy at the end - you've booked a room, even presented yourself - albeit too early to have enter but nonetheless confirming you will be using the room - told to come back later then, upon coming back later told you in fact came back too late.
I agree. He definitely had a strong argument that he'd done what he could. Even if he didn't act like a total bellend he probably wouldn't have got anywhere but his approach to life doesn't help him at all!

Regardless of the Air Raids /Falling Bombes /etc. Lots of "Hotty" , local, War Factory girls"...They flocked there, to meet-up with , the upper class, Soldiers, Sailors and Air Force Pilots, etc. It's popular Dance Band, Beautiful Dance floor, Comfy chairs, and slurpy Drinks, etc. They were Liverpool's best. Still open I was there on Sat and Sunday stayed it’s tired but it’s okay for the money and the main reception is the exact same and the big ball room looks great just needs a few quid spent on it .
I can see they have the booking system "Lanmark Logistix". I have worked with that. 100 % DOS, but it could take a direct atomic war head hit and still run. :D LOL!
Out of morbid curiosity I went for a coffee last year and was charged £3.50 for a cup of instant, no receipt so I do believe they pocket some themselves. The funny thing is the grand atrium area where me and my mate were drinking our vile instant coffee was full of people eating Mc D and takeaway Costa coffees, obviously don't have a strict policy and don't care about sales 😀

Love it that my boyfriend is there in his younger days and featured quite a bit and he was 4 lbs over weight for Monday's national!
I worked there from 1996-1998 I was there when this was filmed 😊 good times

Absolutely. The auctioning of that last room was particularly spivy.
