Although I would love to believe that this is better than a cold air Intake, I saw a video today where a guy put some brand of intake on a Z and got 40 hp on a dyno just from installing it. Surely there’s something more to that. It’s probably not worth how much the intake cost though too.
Not possible to get 40hp from an intake. They likely installed the intake and then tuned the car. The tune unlocked the power. The intake helps minimally
Do you think over a few runs these would help with heat sink? I can see why they wouldn't add power but would they maybe help maintaining power as heat builds up in the engine bay?
Since AMS CAI is sold out and on backorder I'm thinking of going this route for my red sport, at least for the time being until a tune or other mods. Thanks for the vid man!
how did you install the intake tubes with the stock side pcv "box things" I watched the video on the install but you used the radiator hose and deleted the boxes. Im thinking of buying the z1 side pcv hoses in the near future, but I want to install the tubes that I already have. Thanks for always answering questions when you can
I’ll go through them. They were all active items just a couple days ago. I’m sorry about the Canada thing. I’ll see if I can get some Canada-specific links for my friends up north!
Hey man I recently pulled the trigger and purchased afe drop in and the z1 silicone intakes. I watched your vid on installing them about 5 years ago and In it you deleted the passenger side valve cover “suppressor” I guess. Don’t know the exact term but you did that with 5/8 heater hose. In this vid you have them back on. Did you take out the metal flange as well like you did on the passenger side?
I changed it up a couple of times. I did not like the heater hose so used the metal coupler and got the air boxes to work z I eventually eliminated the boxes completely with the z1 tubes
@@Ocphoneplug those stillen intakes are not good for the 3.0t. Its been proven to cause jerkiness and causes the car to ride like shit. The reason is due to the MAF sensor. 3 options are ams, burger tuning or run burger turbo inlets with upgraded drop in filters.
Hey speed culture love your video questions did you reuse the factory box tube that connects on the side of the Z1 tube ( talking about passenger side)
Is there any difference between z1 post maf tubes and mishimoto? They're both made of silicone and both seem to need to be cut down a lil bit most the time
Hey so if you look at your car standing in front of it , in the first video you bought a hose to replace the little black resonator thing which you took out from the left intake kept it on the right. In this video you put it back how did you manage to do that?
I should have filmed it! I put the metal coupler that came with the intake tube back into the tube. I used a very small piece of the vacuum hose to make a gasket and trimmed the lip of the baffle/resonator which allowed me to slide the securely onto the fitting from the intake tube.
Speed Culture Studios do you mind filming it like maybe 5-8 min update video whenever you have time? Im like a visually learner and the video might make it easy for me. lol
david jimenez dude I literally just did it. They pop up right away. Just typed Q50. Nothing even related to 16 came up. As for mine I have no paddles and no plugs for them, also no cruise control and I am tuned with uprev but can not change maps as it's impossible to find cruise control ones here in New Zealand, is there a way to diy switch in to change maps?
was wondering if you could help me out with starting out for modifications for the Q. i’ve only done a muffler delete and wheels and tires so far. want to do some power mods. just not sure where to start.
@@sleeper.simulant7327 agreed. Watched a video of a guy installing headers and test pipes and I think high flow cats and he made 50 hp 22 whp after tune
Intake tubes are not cold air intakes. They are post MAF tubes. I never said you lose power-I said you don’t gain enough power to justify $500 for intakes. Some people have lost power though yes.
@@SpeedCultureStudios gotcha. What would make someone lose power with a cai? And how much would you gain with a cai, roughly? I mainly wanted it for the sound. But I after I saw your video with drop ins and intake tube sucking air I have second thoughts. And would I have to tune and dino after drop ins and intake tubes? Sorry just got a q50s and still learning lol. Thanks!
Happy with my z1 tubes and the video you provided. ? Thou, I recently put some new MAF sensors in. Due to a little jerky feeling trying to climb up in rpm's. Thought that would solve the problem but unfortunately it didn't. Have any ideas 💡 what might be the problem.
May be a throttle body issue-need a throttle relearn/calibration. I can remember what other mods you have or if you’re tuned. Could be a number of things.
The only mods is a full custom exaust with HFC from Z1 motorsports, Z1 intake tubes with k&n drop in filters. I do make sure that there's no excess oil on them and make sure there completely dry lol. I did clean the throttle body's a year ago but didn't get this issue until a couple of weeks ago. It is a old vehicle and might have to do some re learning on the throttle bodys.
Called Z1 motorsports and they say they can do a mail in uprev flash on my ecu and do some tweaks to get a little bit more power. Hopefully that can take care of the problem. I live in kansas so getting a tune here is impossible.
I’m not sure who your question is directed to, but no I don’t think anyone is claiming that the z1 tubes make power. They are post MAF tubes so there is no way they could make power.

Does the two brands make a difference? Lmk! Thanks and keep up the good work with Q50.
I got E tuned today. By soho ! My car feels awesome ! And launch control is something else
Soho does a great job!
It would be cool to see intake tubes that were dimpled internally around the bends to speed up the air flow.
What are other great options for intake if I wanna spend a lil more 300+
This car has come so far!! I had the mishimoto hoses and returned them
I appreciate you sticking around through the transformation!

Do you think over a few runs these would help with heat sink? I can see why they wouldn't add power but would they maybe help maintaining power as heat builds up in the engine bay?

Hey brother...i love your videos.
Im currently working in my 2018 q50 2.0t....do you think this set up would even be worth it on my car?
I haven’t seen much about intakes for the 2.0t, but generally with forced induction cars bringing in more air is helpful.

You can make it work with hose-just have to get creative. But I eventually got the pcv hoses from z1 and completely eliminated the boxes

Same
