I think they "dislike" pete because he's just a normal, supportive guy, while their whole family is dysfunctional and treat each other like shit all the time (bear couldn't even say "i love you" to his sister in the first episode), so when they come across this normal dude coming into their world, he shows them how dysfunctional they are so they collectively take it as an attack on them.
this was probably one of my favourite episodes of the first season, and yes, marcus is one of the best characters.

I think we don’t put ketchup on hotdogs because the Chicago dog already has tomato on it. At least that’s my theory, when it’s not a Chicago dog I do put ketchup on.
