Nope. It did not expand at all. Don't fool yourself. Vector should not have been killed off because he played a vital role later in the Chaos story arc. Dr. Ido lacked depth. And don't get me started with Dr. Nova.

Man, this movie was absolutely amazing. Been waiting for a sequel for a long time now...
As far as I know the movie was mostly based on an anime. They do have an option to use the manga series to make a sequel, however it will require way more work as manga script doesn't translate well into live-action movie script.
Plus the first movie despite being quite a good adaptation just did not raise enough earnings to earn itself a sequel. It was far too expensive for what it ended up making.
Moreover the rights to the adaptation now belong to Disney, so I highly doubt we will ever see a sequel.
The manga is called Gunnm. You can read it to know how it ends

I remember how everyone only talked about how Alita’s eyes were too big but I always found them beatiful. Saw it twice when it was in theaters.
That was intentional, since the character was an anime girl and that's how she was drawn. Since everything but the brain was synthetic she could have any size eyes she wanted.
Rosa Salazars giggle coming from Alita is so freakin adorable.
Almost as adorable as her “I am SO grounded!” look when she sees Ido.

Movie was a box-office success everywhere but the US where it got trashed by social media trolls complaining about the eye size, logically a military cyborg designed for combat would have enhanced eye sight, which likely would need bigger eyes to take the upgrades.
This movie called Alita Battle Angel needs and deserves a sequel, Dracula untold also deserves a sequel, so common producers make it happen❤

I love this movie!!! I really hope they do a sequel.
i don't have any problems with it exepte the name that is the english name so i fear that peoples will begin to think that's the real name of the manga ( witch is not just the english name)! i always hated when peoples from any country changed a name for their own convienience i feel like it's like egoncentricaly changing the reality because we preafer that new one! After for the movie, there is changes from the manga but i have no problems with that it's called "adaptation" for a reason!
I heard it is being considered.
In the US and most of the Western audience, it's known as Battle Angel Alita in both manga and anime adaptations for around 30 years now. I'm sure it'll be renamed to its proper name in the appropriate regions. Besides, one search of Batlle Angel Alita will yield information leading back to its original Japanese title.
James Cameron knows of this and has said in an old interview decades ago stating that he would love to make a Battle Angel Alita movie and noted that it was called Gunnm in Japan. He just never found anyone to help make it happen until now. The closest he got was making the Dark Angel TV series, which you could tell was inspired by Alita.

I think the movie has become very popular over the years. Distribution must have been an issue, because I literally stumbled across a short clip, and the vortex pulled me in.....my favorite way to go, when it comes to movies.
I remember "Romancing the Stone", and "True Romance" both did the same thing.
Great movies for that....just a 5 minute peek, and you're pulled in.

I really liked this film
The Hunter Wariors were totally outclassed and didn't know it. They relied on being bigger, stronger and faster than the folks whose heads they took for bounty. They weren't _skiiled. They never learned to fight. Alita was former Urm combat infantry, who had spent years training in Panzer Kunst, an unarmed combat discipline derived from things like Gung Fu, Karate, Jui Jujitsu, and La Savate, modified to extend it to combat in zero G. Had she been wearing her later Berserker body during htis fight, by the time Doctor Ido arrived the Hunter Warriors would all have been un conscious, in need of Dr. Ido's medical services, or staying as carefully far from Alita as they could get because they didn't want the same treatment,
yeah, they were sacks of shit, especially zapan.

The way Alita looks at Hugo at 01:05. He is interrupting her speech and she, with no shadow of hesitation , looks straight in his eyes and says, deeply caring, for him to back down: she is the boss there and she knows it.

And this is before she gets her berserker armor.
I do find a bit of an issue with this though......the body she was using was for everyday use not for high intensity combat, she should have been shattering the limbs of that body when she hit some of the cyborgs. This is like using a Glass poll to try and break a steel beam......hardest substance wins......
This was my fav moment in the movie. Loved it all, but this was a peak fight.

I just realized that when she disarms him, that sword goes flying across the near table landing a good 3-4 meters from her. Then she walks toward him, and the sword is magically right in front of her.

The kindest adaptation I have ever seen. This is a gift from a fan to a group that also loves the original. It has done a lot of anti-business things and minimal compromise.
