    This is the reason why I feel that i should have born in English country. I was struggling to learn English from many years I looked in 100's of utube channels and books. To be realistic I never found a channel like your. Commendable job sir.. all the 100k subscribers please take a bow to Adam.

    Redundancy and wordiness is my largest problem in writing. It hinders my writing speed and thought process in an AP Language and Composition timed essay. Thank you for these tips, I will make use of this for my upcoming AP exam :)

    If my teacher had taught me similar to Adam's method 10 years ago, I can write English much better than now. Adam's way should be adopted in schools. Students should learn how to distinguish the differences between high scored and low band essays. Then, they can understand their weaknesses easily and see how to express ideas in a more structured way...

    Hi Adam I would like to clarify why you didn’t use the possessive adjective on this word “family” to indicate the “family fortunes” (minute 16:50).
    Doesn’t have to be “family’s fortunes” instead?
    And another possessive adjective I didn’t understand why it’s missed is:
    “Harvard University study” instead of “Harvard University’s study” (minute 17:11)
    Thank you, as always great job!!

    Hello Adam, good night! Thanks for another super class! However, I'd like to vent a little bit, if you allow me. With all my respect, don't you think that essays on this type of test are matter of luck? You'll probably deny this fact, but in the bottom we all know that the examiner that read the test doesn't care at all! And if they are in doubt, they will always go for the minor. As you said, they don't read the essay, they just scan it. First of all, you'll be there after 2 or 3 sections, tired, under pressure, lacking of time and aiming 300 words. Tests today are very hard, but of course the practice makes someone to be on the verge of the perfection, but still... I think it's unfair, sorry. It's like sports' referees. They are human, they will always make mistakes. Well, I hope when I get the IELTS the examiner likes my style or at least my name... HAHAHAHAHA. Thanks!

      Yeah, that makes sense. Thank you very much teacher! And no, my goal is to immigrate to Canada haha.
      But I am also studying for the Michigan ECPE test. It's similar to the IELTS, but it is mainly to improve your cv. And I am taking these tips to get to the point!
      Could you also give classes about this test? Or just IELTS and TOEFL?
      Once again, thanks and greetings from Brazil!!

    When it is enough explanation?
    "say it once, clearly" seems the most complicated for me. I tend to either overexplicate or underexplicate.
    The possibility is that I don't have a good sense of the reader's intelligence.

    HI Adam,
    Thanks for your great videos, but I would like to say, for many of us, as non native-speakers, when we start to write, specially in IELTS ot TOFEL, we don't know how to hit 250 words! I hardly reach to 200 words at most. This the time that we have to use some fillers that you advised us not to use them. I confused. our problem is not "Wordiness"! ours is "Wordless"!

    I have one question about regarding complex and compound sentences .They should be used, in my opinion. But will not they examined then as 'wordy', because of containing many words, or it depends on how the idea is conveyed by them?

    • @aprenderchinesemmoz872
      @aprenderchinesemmoz872 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Art 1 Your question could be better like "I have one question about complex and compound sentences. They should be used, I believe. But won't they be considered 'wordy', for containing many words, or it depends on the idea they convey?" From 41 words to 33 ones. Don't use "about" and "regarding" together, just one instead.

      @aprenderchinesemmoz872 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Art 1 ikr. In my humble opinion, complex and compound sentences don't imply wordiness or redundancy automatically. The key is not overusing them, writing too much saying less, etc. Repeating this video and the one about variety in sentences will give you a better understanding, I guess.

    Hello Adam, I religiously follow you being an IELTS trainer. After watching the above video I have a concern to shareYou say , use less words and squeeze the idea/s in the essay. On the other hand, in y9our previous videos, you recommended using complex sentences to show off vocab or variety. In complex sentences we need to take help of linking words, phrases, conjunctions, connectors, preposition and adjectives. Isn't the above video a contradic of the previous one? We have to write atleast 250 words so isn't it good to use connectiors, phrases or prepositions? Please clear the doubt as to exactly what should be done? Is it recommended to use complex sentences or squeeze the sentences in fewer words. I am confused.
