man had some great ideas and takes in his video and i just wanted to give my two cents, take note konami.

Honestly this is the problem with not gatekeeping try hards. It ruins the game that you can’t go to a backwater locals and play friendlies without people busting out the best deck of the format.

This game has always been broken since cyber stein otk ftks etc trishula infinite loops the edison bullshit this game has always been broken asf
To put it a little more into words, the extra deck should NOT be a toolbox where you can get the card you need at any moment in time. It should exclusively be the place where you keep your boss monsters once you have the correct materials to summon them.
Summoning mechanics like synchro or xyz would've been so good if the material requirements were always specific, but immediately upon release of synchros we already had overpowered generic monsters.
Nowadays even fusion monsters have generic material requirements just so you can use them with super polymerization...
I have been watching some older format games and as soon as synchros came out, games were already ending in turn 3. These rose tinted glasses with which people view Edison are just because you never played good decks at the time.
Those dumb time wizard formats where people respect Konami's brain dead banlists are not the way to go. We have to go back to a time where most cards had one effect, and then ban anything that's too generic from the extra deck.
It's an absolute shame that appo isn't getting banned anytime soon. She's in the next rarity collection so I'm guessing it'll be at least a year until she gets banned. Konami got me good with that first rarity collection. Finally able to grab baronne, savage dragon, and summon limit now all three are banned. I see what you did there Ko-money 👏

Here's my suggestion for a modern day Mirror Force
"Deafening Mirror Force"
Counter Trap
"When your opponent's monster declares a direct attack, send all face-up monsters they control to the graveyard, and if you do, for the rest of this turn, card effects cannot be activated from the graveyard. You can only use the effect of 'deafening mirror force" one per turn."
WAY too many cards have effects in the graveyard or via destruction that basically let them recur most of their resources. You can nuke their entire field and a couple chains later, they're back on the field and somehow with more card advantage than they started with!
That’s a really good one, I would just add an effect where if it’s destroyed or removed from the field by the opponent then it re sets itself or something or maybe it kills all their guys when it goes to grave

Corrupted Gem of Rebellion- Snake Eye is a card I imagine should be seen in most decks. Going second, Corrupted Gem is tantamount to a kaiju, except maybe better. Target a monster and force it into back row, effectively removing a threat without destruction, without gy worries, and hogging a spell/trap slot. The card is totally splashable in any deck as a tech option, I swear
That’s true, very good card, unless the boss monster can’t be targeted or has a negate
The best trap card is a trap card hat has an effect that activated normally like any other trap card AND a Waking the dragon like effect where if the trap is destroyed or banished, it has a punishing effect for removing it, imo

Security Orb comes to mind for me here.
In MD i play Kashtira and Diabellstar engine to end on Shangri, Ariseheart and then depending on interruptions and hand: Raidraptor Ultimate Falcon, Arc Rebellion XYZ Dragon, Cyber Dragon Infinity and F0 Utopic Draco Future.
If i can't get Infinity I'll get Arc Rebellion. And if i can't make Ultimate Falcon I'll go F0.
So many Combo variants, so much fun. Also can Brick HARD and eating Nibiru like a h***** on the corner.

@TheDuelingBeard the wildest part is, all board that don't end on Cyberdragon Infinity completely ignore my normal summon. Only if I have a lvl 4 monster on hand for normal summon I can go for Infinity.
Also Kashtira works wonderful with Dinomorphia.
Something with appo that doesnt get brought up that makes it easier to play around is that it gets weaker with every negate. You can realistically run it over in battle. You can also imperm it to make its attack 0 and do a good chunk of battle damage. And for the borrell monsters, ive always thought they should have had to be made with rokket monsters. It sucks when other decks get your own archetypes boss monsters out better. Its like ice barriers all over again
Good point, the problem has notoriously been that apo is often times protected. If it’s just apo it’s fine but the other stuff around it is awful, I would say just ban the card since future power creep will only make that card more stupid
@@TheDuelingBeard yeah I see your point. Baronne and Savage being gone definitely help with that issue though. I wish we could go back to the toolbox extra deck like in Edison or hat formats. Even duelist alliance format is fun because the top decks (ba, shadoll and satellarknight) all play very differently and have varied archetype specific extra deck momsters

savage should have been in rokket and Baronne de Fleur should have been in the Fleur archatype where folk forgot Chevalier is Baronne just off her horse...and needs a machine/fleur to synchro in
Modern Day Mirror Force: Destroy all attack position monsters your opponent controls. If this set card is destroyed by an opponents card effect: send all cards your opponent controls to the GY.
Get on it Konami, this is what we need, maybe even “if this card is sent to the GY” not just destroyed.
I disagree with the apologetic approach to the generic syncrhos.
Making anything in the extra deck generic was a mistake that we're now paying for dearly, and if you don't think black rose dragon and goyo guardian were mistakes, you're part of the problem.

My first thought was floating, like mirror force launcher, but I think allowing it to activate if it's targeted while set, like krawler deus, would be good.

Non-generic bosses in the modern era should do something too much, or it will not be good. Mirrorjade, Arise-Heart, and DPE are also doing too much. The thing that makes them look fair now is that we still have some good generic Bosses. But when generic bosses are gone, they will be the next problem. Mirrorjade and Arise-heart are almost the same, they're disruptions and also can set up for something in the process, they can plus while making your opponent minus at the same time. Also, they have 1 additional busted effect, Raigeki and the other is Macro Cosmos. Especially they have easy access to summon those boss monsters, compared to other non-generic bosses.
I don’t agree respectfully, generic boss monsters can become very broken if some new generic archetypes come out while in theme bosses can be controlled much more easily. It’s why mirrorjade is good only if branded is good, can’t pop him out in snake eye.
For mirror force it would have to draw 1 card as well as give 1000 lp for each card destroyed and end the battle phase.
In order to justify the activation condition and limitation to attack position monster you would need that big of a reward since it has a low success rate.
Destroying cards is quite abundant so the effect doesn't really pay for the cost as it stands. I think it would be cool if it just banished the opponents entire graveyard as a bonus.
Those are all pretty solid, especially the graveyard banish, could be devastating in the right matchup
Fleur is in fact an archetype, a very small one with like 4 main deck monsters a spell and 2 syncs
A Counter Trap Mirror Force that can't be chained and is activateable on hand is probably feasible given the current circumstances of the game

I play Lavals in both Master Duel and IRL, im glad baronne is banned but i would love to see more neat FIRE synchros, but alas the only worthwhile fire monsters to end on are like lavalval exlord and ruddy rose, so i at least dedicate 14 out of 15 spots for synchros including stuff like lavalval dragon who is funny non opt bounces and salamander who is a draw effect and flips as many guys as i have lavals on field

See but I think that’s awesome, unique niche effects that require skill and thought and matchup knowledge to use. That’s what Yugioh should be, I agree they should make more of every attribute extra deck monsters but they should have niche abilities so then the duelists deck building skill is tested. If they just make apos and barones then every deck will just be the same and cringe since everyone can see omnis are the strongest cards

For a mirror force type card to work in current day yugioh it would have to have graveyard effect and it's activation uninteractable or something.

The biggest problem is we get outs to hyper combo decks and people whine and they get banned. Like play a fucking mst it's less then a cent to get them if you don't wanna worry about a floodgate.
Fair point, the problem ends up being that when you do run it and you don’t draw it you just lose. But you make a good point

We see the same because people choose to. Many do not take the time to find their own way and opt for just following tournament lists. I have been learning of insane tech that has been around for a long time but is that true for others??
Many times they don’t know what’s even out there so they default to tourney lists unfortunately
I make rogue decks with emphasis on minimizing time and actions taken per turn to maximise the rate of back and forth turn passing between players. I refuse to run solitaire decks with 40min combos
I respect that. Those overly long turns are not Yugioh.
Baron did have a deck is the de fleur archetype ;( I used them in Yubel ! To summon baron

I just wish yugioh had rotation. All this power creep leads to amazingly good cards to stop bs, and then new bs to go around the amazingly good defensive card. It leads to a game where you either keep buying cards, or fall behind. Make a balanced game, and cycle cards out of the format every few years. Magic and Pokémon do it, why can't yugioh. It's not like we can't have a format that allows every card from past formats, that exist in magic and people love it. Modern should be balancable, and not either Stun turbo vs $1000 meta.
You’re right but I think Konami banks on “being able to use any card ever” as a marketing gimmick. I’m just tired of tier zero, I’m tired of broken decks that are pay to win. I wish we could go back to bologna format, I haven’t had that much fun in the game in years, basically since before covid
I keep seeing hate on Apolusa yet I NEVER not even ONCE encountered the use of that card n my many duels on master duel. NOBODY uses apo apparently, at least not any of my rng rando opponent dice rolls
Could just be a master duel thing, it’s summoned pretty much every other duel in the TCG
Also evenly is such a toxic card. It has no real drawback whatsoever (skipping a battle phase aint a drawback) AND isnt even once per turn
Yea the only reason no one said anything about evenly is because if generic negates going first being so prevalent

Zues is good in the context of modern Yugioh, as in the game is so overtuned for going first that almost anything going second oriented is fine but overall you’re right, in a vacuum the card is cracked

@@Chihiro-KikuchiIt's very accessible but the deck itself has such an overabundance of support that it genuinely feels obnoxious when Branded players whine about not being meta.
They get so much ability to recycle and abuse resources with nearly every monster having an effect on banish or going to grave, including an in-archetype hand trap.
@AdHocWholius fair point, any branded player complaining about lack of support is crazy lol I love branded and believe it has plenty. Deck should have puppet addressed too
