I upgraded from the 12 mini to the 15 a month or so ago. Aside from the battery getting weak, the 12 mini was still a pretty good phone. I love the battery life on the 15 though! The larger screen is also a nice quality of life improvement for my aging eyes.
As someone who still uses an iPhone XR on the daily (with a replacement battery!), thanks for making this video! I plan on picking up a refurb iPhone 15 when the new iPhone 16 models drop (to save some coin). I would agree that it's getting a bit long on the tooth, especially with my kids dropping and throwing my iPhone around. I would expect iOS 18 to be the final update that the older iPhone XR model phones get to upgrade to.
I actually went from the Xr to the 15 Pro Max. Obviously, they are very different in features but both are great phones. I really appreciate the longer battery life and camera upgrade of the 15 Pro Max, But the Xr still holds up well for a 6 year old phone.
I used the ifixit kit to replace my XR battery and I have the Apple Smart Case for it. I can get 2 days out of it. Not my main phone but nice to have laying around
I upgraded from an 11Pro to a 15 Pro this year and think I got it about right. I was able to trade it in for for a decent amount. I did upgrade the 15 Pro to 256GB storage as there's a good chance I could hold onto the 15 Pro for even longer than 4 years.
Thanks so much! After I started planning it out I realized it probably makes more sense to do an Xr to a 15 regular because I don't think many folks would go from Xr to pro max. But that might be a video to make in the future.
@@TheEverydayDadGot an iPhone, and i will buy a celular iPad with the M4 Chip(Macbook+iPhone+The iPad,all in one),the most performant chip in an Apple product,i was between a macbook and an iPhone 16 mini or Pro,but this iPad just came out with everything in,and better than the macbook, thin and big,it's insanely good. What is your opinion on this?
I have an Xr(bought new)..as I understand it, this year, I won’t get any new updates when the 16 comes out…time to upgrade…I still have 92% battery health and I am a power user for work and personal.
I’m curious about your preference for the notch over the Dynamic Island? I’m fine with the notch myself, have yet to experience DI myself…just curious thx! Great analysis, as always thank you!
I was a dynamic island hater before I got my 14 pro max but I can assure you I love it now and can’t see myself going back to a notch. It’s quite useful honestly and the animations are very smooth
I’ve got to upgrade this year, when my XS loses the latest iOS. I wouldn’t be looking at XR or XS at this point. Maybe the latest SE or something like a 13 Mini, but definitely not something with an X in the model name. Thanks for the content.
The battery test wasn’t to find out the actual battery life of the phones in various circumstances, it was the show the ratio of difference between them over time.
Unfortunately, I had the XR and after 3 years of use the phone crapped out on me. I traded it for a 13. Hopefully it will last more than 3 years. I plan on keeping the 13 at least 5 years. I never buy the Pro phones as I don't need those features.
Honestly, if you have a iPhone 11 or previous, just upgrade at that point. I went from an 11 to an 15 Pro and it’s actually worth the upgrade. The 14 Series was a deciding factor, but with USB-C I think I made the right choice
I have an iphone 7+ (it still runs perfectly beside some lag on insta 4k videos) and im up in the air between s24u or the 15 pro max. im leaning on the s24 tho. biggest downside to me is the 2 year AI feature limit.
I have 11pro from day one. Last year, I was waiting for some boom from 15 to finally upgrade. But... lol I go for z flip5 because I want try something completely different. Love it. But now I think about s24 ultra or 15pro... hmm
I have a base 13 and I'll only upgrade when Apple implements AI features that will demand a newer cheap. AI in the notes app? Gimme gimme! So far I'm good.
I upgarded my XR to the s24ultra. the Pixel 8 pro was my original choice because the iphone 15pro is extremely dissapointing and just no where near the competition this year but then the s24u released so I decided to get that instead because of the extra features and the samsung ecosystem is alot better than googles and I got a free galaxy watch 6 and I already own a samsung TV
Daddy .... I'm thinking about switching over from Android to IOS for the first time From Galaxy S21 FE ( Exynos Version) to IPhone 14 128gb. Whats your advise....???? Though IPHONE 15 128GB is still out of my budget here in India. 😢
@@TheEverydayDad thanks for a reply all the other tech TH-camrs may do all the great test and they do all the comparison but you make a cool video that brightens my day
Dude, this is a stupid argument. Buy an old phone because the specs are good. The power of Apple has never been the hardware. You can buy a new phone with great specs but with Android. The support of iOS and the software is the real magic. Android can give 70 years of support, but their problem is that their phones don't run on iOS. That's why a new iPhone SE has not that good specs compared to the latest models, but it has 6+ years of updates. Today, you can find a 300$ phone with impressive specs, but the software is more important. Ask Samsung and their OS - Android. Oops, it's not their OS; it belongs to Google.
Loved my XR but now using a 12. I always run about two versions behind and save myself a fortune in SIM deals and the phone.
Oh yeah, even waiting a series behind can save some legitimate money.
I upgraded from my XR to the iPhone 13 Pro

In making this video I was pretty impressed with how well the Xr held up. I thought it was going to be a lot bigger gap.
Great video! Older iPhones are incredible. I’m holding on to my iPhone 13 Pro Max now and finally will upgrade my son who’s using a iPhone 7 Plus!

That’s a pretty big jump too, but those pros are going to be interesting in the future to see how they upset the apple operating system update path.
This is lowkey a great video. I've always wanted to see a comparison of the newest iPhone with an old ass one, not the one previous to it.

Receiving my 15 Pro Saturday, I’m so excited to switch from my Xs
Nice! That should be a gigantic upgrade!
Same! Watching on my xs cuz y not 🙃
I think the comparison between iphone 15 and xr would be better, as the processor difference is smaller age wise and also both use 60Hz display.
