this is my first time watching you instead of seeing your name on splice or spotify lol. it’s reassuring knowing that even the greats of dance music have had imposter syndrome or love using presets

Huge thanks to all of you for putting this interview together! KSHMR samples were a huge boost for me and really pivotal in me pushing my own sound and having more confidence in producing 🙌🔥
Thanks for this podcast, can't believe I only now stumbled upon you guys and I'm so happy to get to know KSHMR! Learned so much and enjoyed every second of it. Almost all those songs he named here had such a big impact for my own music production and what I liked to party to in my early 20's ❤ those were the days.
Every producer needs to be friends with each other. Sharing the passion and getting over excited like kids about stupid sounds makes me feel like I found the right community. Keep it up because you’re influencing a lot of people.
After Skrillex, KSHMR is the best producer I've seen till date. The precision in his song arrangement is top notch. Started listening to his songs from Burn, Megalodon, Leviathan, Tsunami, Sweat remix..etc. Love you boss!
Great episode guys, a lot of insight on his career! Just wanted to mention that Martin Garrix actually stole the kick in Animals from Joyenergizer by Sander Van Doorn!
The Beatles chord in the beginning of hard days night is often referred to as a Gsus4 Now I usually have a gripe with sus4 because a Gsus4 is the same notes as a Csus2. Some would say well what note is the bass playing to identify the chord. As much as I lay king chord by root of bass I must say not every style of music arrangers the bass as a root. So I personally would call it a Csus2. But I also love that the Beatles didn’t know in the moment and neither should we. I’m curious to hear anyone else’s philosophy on mine but at the end of the day “does it sound good” is the answer Im so hyped in this podcast!! 10 years ago now I had just graduated ICON Collective and I was still hanging around the school and I saw KSHMR was going to be doing a Q&A and I wasn’t allowed in because I was a graduate. So I literally stood outside and watched through the window just trying to catch a glimpse and read his lips. This is so full circle for me and I’m just gonna say I was pretty pissed icon didn’t let me in after spending all that money just because I was a graduate. So thanks XLNT 10 years later I finally get to attend the Q&A.
Could not have had a better guest honestly! Hearing KSHMR say he is a preset guy really made me feel better about myself for not making every sound from scratch 😅
I love how back in 2013 im strugging to figure how to make big room kicks while the songs im listening to just sampled the kick from another song LOL. Sampling kicks is the key, MEGALODON is such a good song.
37:50 - this is why it’s important to set aside days for creating presets and build a library of your own. That way you can sift through presets during production time instead of interrupting the creative process by trying to design a sound from scratch.
I wanna make a small correction regarding the Martin Garrix "Animals" kick mentioned at around 18:00. The kick was not taken from Cannonball, rather it was taken from "Joyenergizer" by Sander Van Doorn, and specifically it was just the low-end that was sampled. Layered up with a highpassed top kick, and thats how the kick was made :) Does sound similar to the Cannonball kick i'll grant you, but its so much the Joyenergizer kick it phase cancels haha
Thanks for tuning in guys and thx to the boys for a great interview. Pt 2 coming where I open some sessions!
Thanks for all the great music and inspiration!
