I've been waiting for Scampton's theme for a while, and when it arrived, IT DID NOT DISSAPOINT! it even feels even more chaotic and FASTER than I expected! Well done, [CHAMP]!
Ooooo scary, a big rant comment When listening i couldnt help notice how...different it felt. Like not at all as a bad thing, I love how frantic and wild it sounds, its just the world revolving always felt chaotic, yet focused to me. "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" and all. This came off as pure bridled insanity, wackiness in its most maliciously playful form and i couldnt really put together why, so here are what i could gather of my thoughts as to why From what ive seen of this swap, the characters have been swapped, but their themes and messages have been altered to work (jevil being junkil to still be a spam ad, his devil motif shining through, taking the entertainment out of him so he's more ominious and sly, ect). It fits to really sell the swap feel. Spamton (Or Scampton) is Spamton with his insanity risen through the roof, he's a game master and you're part of his next showstopping spectacular. What comes off different however is how Malicious he seems, which is definitely the Spamton part of Scampton, as Jevil was more focused on the fun that was prisoners entering his freedom to play. Scampton on the otherhand actually seems to feel locked away, unstable, scary. His laugh feels so horrifying and he's just so excited to have you enter without a seeming reason. Not to mention his leitmotif isnt the freedom one (which is obviously so its not just the world revolving but lets just ignore that), no its "Dont Forget". Maybe im just insane, but what is a Darkner's purpose? To keep Lightners happy. What is Scampton so obsessed about? Games. He isnt "alone in his happy little freedom, he is being prevented from his single life purpose, Entertain the Lightners. Maybe thats why he's so excitable and derranged, he's bonkers to get the Lightner's grubby mits all over him. Or maybe its something else. Jevil and Spamton's themes are kinda clear, Hell and Heaven, their colors show this, their names (Jevil more so) Show this, its a big part of them. However, Jevil is less so a boss worthy of the hell role as is Spamton (snowgrave and how selfish he can be at times). The themes here as I said before havent been switched, Jevil is still his devilish lil self and Spamton is still preaching to heaven, so maybe the song is so wild and wrong because heaven in deltarune isnt exactly a nice place (the angel's heaven). If Scampton still has the heaven motif, maybe the song is so excitable because he's just so eager to bring "Heaven" down onto you (Ralsei's story at the end of chapter 2). an experience you wont "forget" what is Scampton's leitmotif again? Oh yeah, "Dont Forget" OR OR, maybe its just because some characters and their impressions just never fade? Spamton will always be a chaotic desperate insane bastard no matter how much you sugar coat it, and the song feels way more attention hungry than The World Revolving. Its faster paced, louder, and more intense. Big Shot was also more intense, loud and faster paced than The World Revolving, it was a [[BIG BANG]] of energy (as the title implies). Maybe if my darkner thing was correct, he's Desperate to play and be played with. if his intro said anything, he is dangerously obsessed with games (You can barely understand what he's saying in the song, just garbled noises of joy), maybe he's desperate for more after being locked away for so long, explaining why the song is so ballistic. or maybe im looking to deep into it and this is just a really really good song. But hey, those are some fun theories to have for your character, and I consider that an accomplishment (being popular enough where people theorize about your work), Bravo WInterer! TL;DR: Scampton is high as fuck and desperate to be played with and to not be forgotten, to the point where he's just as dangerous as he was in snowgrave
I definetly agree with you, i would just add the so called "Strings" in there too. Much like normal Jevil, Scampton seems to have embraced the strings... except that isn't who he trully is, Spamton is right now the only darkner that actually pursued freedom. He hated to be controled. Scampton is probably so far down the rabit hole that he doesn't even care anymore, he probably doesn't even recognizes himself anymore. He's just straight up lost. That makes this song so sad for me, because Spamton became Nietzsche and just gave up to his madness. Edit: That plus the fact that "The Legend" also plays an important role in this song.
@@davisdf3064 yeah that makes a lot of sense, maybe to keep with how persistent spamton is, scampton tries to get everyone aware of their strings and lose themselves for the fun of the game, or maybe he show more signs of being a puppet like his jaw actually falling off when damaged or something. Also the legend being a big part of his theme kind of solidifies how much more malevolent scampton is, at least to me. As for the song being kinda sad, I think it’s sadder that, from what we saw with the intro, he isn’t content with being locked away, unlike Jevil who seemed more passive and gleeful to be locked away and have visitors, scampton is way more ecstatic to be let out, so he doesn’t even have the relief of his little freedom Again this comment was just my unorganized thoughts and I’ll probably reply again and form a lore cohesive take on this lil bugger since I love him more than spamton and just as much as Jevil (if not more so), and when I do I’ll keep what you said in mind
Definitely late to the party on this but I’ll give it a go… My idea in terms of motives for scampton is that instead of trying break free from his strings, he is actively trying to entertain the puppet master pulling them. The whole attention seeking feel of this song lends itself to it. If the puppet master is an analog for the player, it’d make sense for scampton to act malicious or deranged since the puppet master will never face the consequences, similar to how in the weird route we force noelle to do all of that since we won’t face any punishment for it, we can always just reset. Alternatively, the puppet master could serve as an analog to the mysterious benefactor spamton has, scampton acting as attention seeking as he does could be him attempting to get them back. Idk, just a fun thought to satisfy the spamton shaped hole in my brain.
Just saw the teaser for the boss coming out on April first and went to check this out. Oh my god this is the hardest hitting deltarune/undertale song I’ve ever heard and that includes all the fan games I’ve played and seen. The song is so amazing and the visuals in the cutscenes are amazing. Super hype

When listening i couldnt help notice how...different it felt. Like not at all as a bad thing, I love how frantic and wild it sounds, its just the world revolving always felt chaotic, yet focused to me. "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" and all.
This came off as pure bridled insanity, wackiness in its most maliciously playful form and i couldnt really put together why, so here are what i could gather of my thoughts as to why
From what ive seen of this swap, the characters have been swapped, but their themes and messages have been altered to work (jevil being junkil to still be a spam ad, his devil motif shining through, taking the entertainment out of him so he's more ominious and sly, ect). It fits to really sell the swap feel. Spamton (Or Scampton) is Spamton with his insanity risen through the roof, he's a game master and you're part of his next showstopping spectacular. What comes off different however is how Malicious he seems, which is definitely the Spamton part of Scampton, as Jevil was more focused on the fun that was prisoners entering his freedom to play. Scampton on the otherhand actually seems to feel locked away, unstable, scary. His laugh feels so horrifying and he's just so excited to have you enter without a seeming reason. Not to mention his leitmotif isnt the freedom one (which is obviously so its not just the world revolving but lets just ignore that), no its "Dont Forget".
Maybe im just insane, but what is a Darkner's purpose? To keep Lightners happy. What is Scampton so obsessed about? Games. He isnt "alone in his happy little freedom, he is being prevented from his single life purpose, Entertain the Lightners. Maybe thats why he's so excitable and derranged, he's bonkers to get the Lightner's grubby mits all over him.
Or maybe its something else. Jevil and Spamton's themes are kinda clear, Hell and Heaven, their colors show this, their names (Jevil more so) Show this, its a big part of them. However, Jevil is less so a boss worthy of the hell role as is Spamton (snowgrave and how selfish he can be at times). The themes here as I said before havent been switched, Jevil is still his devilish lil self and Spamton is still preaching to heaven, so maybe the song is so wild and wrong because heaven in deltarune isnt exactly a nice place (the angel's heaven). If Scampton still has the heaven motif, maybe the song is so excitable because he's just so eager to bring "Heaven" down onto you (Ralsei's story at the end of chapter 2). an experience you wont "forget"
what is Scampton's leitmotif again? Oh yeah, "Dont Forget"
OR OR, maybe its just because some characters and their impressions just never fade? Spamton will always be a chaotic desperate insane bastard no matter how much you sugar coat it, and the song feels way more attention hungry than The World Revolving. Its faster paced, louder, and more intense. Big Shot was also more intense, loud and faster paced than The World Revolving, it was a [[BIG BANG]] of energy (as the title implies). Maybe if my darkner thing was correct, he's Desperate to play and be played with. if his intro said anything, he is dangerously obsessed with games (You can barely understand what he's saying in the song, just garbled noises of joy), maybe he's desperate for more after being locked away for so long, explaining why the song is so ballistic.
or maybe im looking to deep into it and this is just a really really good song. But hey, those are some fun theories to have for your character, and I consider that an accomplishment (being popular enough where people theorize about your work), Bravo WInterer!
TL;DR: Scampton is high as fuck and desperate to be played with and to not be forgotten, to the point where he's just as dangerous as he was in snowgrave

I definetly agree with you, i would just add the so called "Strings" in there too.
Much like normal Jevil, Scampton seems to have embraced the strings... except that isn't who he trully is, Spamton is right now the only darkner that actually pursued freedom. He hated to be controled.
Scampton is probably so far down the rabit hole that he doesn't even care anymore, he probably doesn't even recognizes himself anymore. He's just straight up lost.
That makes this song so sad for me, because Spamton became Nietzsche and just gave up to his madness.
Edit: That plus the fact that "The Legend" also plays an important role in this song.
@@davisdf3064 yeah that makes a lot of sense, maybe to keep with how persistent spamton is, scampton tries to get everyone aware of their strings and lose themselves for the fun of the game, or maybe he show more signs of being a puppet like his jaw actually falling off when damaged or something. Also the legend being a big part of his theme kind of solidifies how much more malevolent scampton is, at least to me. As for the song being kinda sad, I think it’s sadder that, from what we saw with the intro, he isn’t content with being locked away, unlike Jevil who seemed more passive and gleeful to be locked away and have visitors, scampton is way more ecstatic to be let out, so he doesn’t even have the relief of his little freedom
Again this comment was just my unorganized thoughts and I’ll probably reply again and form a lore cohesive take on this lil bugger since I love him more than spamton and just as much as Jevil (if not more so), and when I do I’ll keep what you said in mind
Definitely late to the party on this but I’ll give it a go…
My idea in terms of motives for scampton is that instead of trying break free from his strings, he is actively trying to entertain the puppet master pulling them. The whole attention seeking feel of this song lends itself to it. If the puppet master is an analog for the player, it’d make sense for scampton to act malicious or deranged since the puppet master will never face the consequences, similar to how in the weird route we force noelle to do all of that since we won’t face any punishment for it, we can always just reset. Alternatively, the puppet master could serve as an analog to the mysterious benefactor spamton has, scampton acting as attention seeking as he does could be him attempting to get them back.
Idk, just a fun thought to satisfy the spamton shaped hole in my brain.
I also love how you made the temples of Spamton's glasses into the edges of Scampton's mouth.
