Well said! Ive used a lawn care company for quite a few years. Every now and then i say to myself, i can do this myself. I already have a spreader and i live about 2 miles from Lowes, Home Depot, and wallywold. Im going to try fertilizing every 6 weeks and im just going to use Scott's turf builder. Great video!
This has been the craziest spring I've seen in a long time. Sitting here in the 50's in May, with rain all next week. Can't seem to get a good mowing schedule together and scared to fertilize for fear it'll get washed away like my pre-emergent did. However, I do like this schedule. Simple is good. Good work as always my friend.
Thank ya brother. I feel ya. Rain yesterday, 40s this morning and more rain for next week makes it hard to get in a rhythm. Hope the ship rights soon. Thanks again man.
Great video as always Travis! I've seen many schedules before for fertilizer timing and this one is by far one of the simplest. Another one I've seen used with the 4 step programs they sell up here is EMIL, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.
Weather is crazy lol, last 2 weeks was 90+ , now its 73 and finally got some rain here in Texas. I toss down a mild fert every 3-4 weeks, even then i toss it down light. Holidays i will add a little extra to get that pop of color lol. Love your vids, keep it up!
Indeed it is my friend. Woke up to 40s today after rain all day yesterday. More on the way. I like your style on ferting. Nice job. Thanks so much man. Always appreciate ya!
Good to see your mug again. I generally follow your ideas towards fert. I personally spoon feed between light apps. Being retired from the military, I have the time to play.
I'm really digging your channel. Simple effective and easy to keep up with approach to what many of us over think and waste time and money getting results we aren't happy with.
Thank you. Appreciate that. I've struggled with trying to make everything perfect in my life. Having kids helped changed that. I've learned that lowering my expectations, under promising and over delivering gets me right where I want to be and happiest. Cause even doing that will result in a far above average product. Thanks again!
I'm in Florida and my lawn is frustrating me. So I've stopped and started your regiment of cultural practices. I admit that I was not doing it the same before. But I have lawn stripes now for the first time ever since moving here 2 years ago. Yes I have weeds and brown spots. Heck I have spots that even weeds won't grow. But the tide is turning since adopting your cultural practices.
Good stuff Travis - for the novice who wants an easy program that produces results this is it! Loved the triple 10 I threw down this spring, now using a triple 18 water soluble at spoon fed rates. Just love getting out there 😎
Follow this same schedule except I do it 2 weeks before the holiday trying to get green up for the holiday! Thanks for reassuring me on right on track! Keep up the good work!
Lol Bonus video! Being down here in Texas i do 4 apps of fert. But that’s what works best for my yard and my grass type. I agree with you, keeping it simple is the only way.
🌞The good ole' holiday schedule works every time! Great video, hope you got some good rain! We finally got some after a 22 day drought - things were getting crispy!
Like a charm. Glad to hear you finally got some rain. Wish I could send more your way. We've had plenty with more today. Temps have really dropped. Woke up in the 40s the other day. May not even get outta the 60s today. Oh well. Appreciate ya as always man!
Here in Florida I do, 20-0-6 weed and feed Easter, 6-6-6, July 1, then 20-06 weed and feed September. I do iron spring and fall, then micro nutrients four times a year. Oh ya, I add an anti fungus spring and fall.
I’ve already fertilized 4 times. 3 times synthetic and 1 organic. I’m cutting my st aug every 4 days at about 4 inches, but grey leaf spot is creeping in early this year in the usual places. Same spots every year because the humidity at night. That’s my only issue with st aug, other than that it looks beautiful.
We have had a ton of sun here in Georgia. I’ve only mowed twice this season. We got a “spit” of rain this morning. My mower is getting hungry for some mulching.😀 Hope everyone has a great day.
Bummer. I've been hearing about the drought y'all have had. Hope the tide turns soon for ya. We've had lots of rain here. Down into the 40s this morning! Appreciate ya watching. Have a great day as well!
I started in April and again in May, my grass has never been thicker or greener. I have people stopping by telling how beautiful my lawn is all the time. I like your idea though, it takes the thinking out of when...
Hey man, I have some new bermuda sod just like you. You mentioned in one of your recent videos you are starting to mow it lower. Can you please do a video on the process of mowing lower with increments and time tables? Also is it a bad idea to mow low if my yard is very bumpy and uneven? I used your tip on keeping the mower deck even from back to front and that seemed to work well for the higher setting so far. Thank you for the content! This is the best lawn channel out there. Great info in a straight forward and easy to do manner!
Appreciate that. Thanks for the kind words. Too many other channels overthink the lowering of bermudagrass. I just drop the deck and go for it all at once. Ripping the bandaid off is the way to go. I don't get the whole bringing it down a little at a time. I think they just like to say that stuff to sound smart. Also, my yard is super bumpy and uneven. I'm hitting dirt in spots, but I'm not worried about it. I'm looking at the bigger picture of promoting growth and filling in while knocking the weeds down to weaken them. Just rock and roll. Hope this helps. Thanks again. Appreciate your support!
Very simple and easy to remember! Thanks for another great video and send that rain east! 99% chance tonight/tomorrow here in Dawg country....hope it happens this time!
I use any triple 10 I can get my hands on and a biosolid. Here’s a video I’ve done that explains how I fertilize th-cam.com/video/kecB4qxajZg/w-d-xo.html hope it helps. Thanks for watching.
Hey it’s Matt again! What can I put on my yard to get rid of the stickers at this point in the year? I thought what I put down would take care of it never worked. Kids and the dog aren’t very fond of them.
Hey dude. Those are the worst. I remember getting destroyed by em at my grandma’s. Lol. Did you get a pre emergent down in the fall? That’s the best defense for those. What did you put down? The Spectracide Weed Stop post emergent should work on them. Once they’ve matured and gone to seed with the stickers, they’ll be tough to manage. May take a couple post emergent apps. Hope this helps. Thanks man!
All I put down was the killzall before while everything was dormant. I missed my window. I’ll try and couple applications of the spectracide post emergent. I cuss every time I forget to put my shoes on haha!!
Great video as always. If I emailed you some pictures of my blades would you be able to tell me what type of variety it is? Or at least hybrid vs common? Thanks
Thank you. Trying to determine Bermuda cultivars is extremely difficult. I’ve talked to sod growers and landscapers who even have a hard time with it. I wouldn’t even begin to try for ya on that. I could do my best on hybrid or common. The best things to look at are the width and size of the blades and how far apart they’re spaced out. Hybrid will be much narrower and closer together. Unless really overgrown. then it can be kinda tricky. Hope this helps. You can find my email under the about section of the channel. I can do my best. Thanks again.
Pretty much the schedule I follow but usually a week before those holiday’s so she’s standing tall for guests. I also like a couple doses of liquid iron a year. Ask me what brand… I don’t know, whichever was cheapest and said it was iron. Lol
For some people perhaps. When you keep your home as clean as mine is and don't run your system to death, quarterly works for me. People are shocked at what I keep my thermostat on.

Thank you. My way of doing things is very conservative as I'm in no big hurry. I get it though. It can be tough to be patient. You're prolly good to go to do either. Folks do it all the time. Just my preference not to. In the end though, you just gotta be sure the turf is strong enough and ready for it. Weather needs to be right too. Good luck. Appreciate ya watching.
