For playing 100 test matches as an ASIAN FAST bowler is an achievement in itself. Non-favorable conditions, doing donkey work on Sun baked pitches, without the Duke ball, being the scapegoat for half his career, still mostly being injury-free and reaching this milestone. Only 3 asian fast bowlers before Ishant Sharma to make 100 test matches: Kapil Dev, Wasim Akram and Chaminda Vaas. Even legends like Zaheer, Waqar couldn't reach here!!
Goosebumps mate.... Ishant’s positive attitude has always been his strength. He talked abt it in his interview with Ashwin, like all he ever did was whatever his captain(MS/Kumble) wanted him to do. So nice to see him finally get this recognition.
I'm really glad that Ishant persivered those years and matured into the great bowler that he is! Even in this series of England vs India where pacers don't get any wickets, he has managed to get a wicket in every match, even the third match where pacers were just bystanders!
absolutely spot on Jarrod... Ian Bishop said this about Zaheer after he was a different bowler post that county stint " he was always a good bowler but now he knows how to pick wickets" ... I guess that is a very important point. you need the brains to go along with the talent ... Ive always felt ishant lacked that. He just used to land the bowl on the same spot and wait for things to happen. to be fair to him though he picked few wickets but Indian standards he was one of the most economical. This is probably the best explanation.
Ishant is one of my favorite cricketer. You hear Ishant talk about his early days, he was just bowling with no control or plan. He had/has the talent of bowling looong spells. He just wanted to bowl as much as possible (recently he mentioned this again in interview with Ashwin). In last few years, he refined his style and focus in bowling. He is a true inspiration.
I remember telling my dad that Ishant would play 100 tests and pick 400 wkts after he picked his 1st 5fer vs pak. He started with such promise but got lost in the middle I did not think he would last so long and yet he has stood tall , persevered. Yes, he is still 100 short off what i had thought but i really dont mind now, coz ishant is just one of his kind. Because of my early prediction about his 400 wkts i always wanted to stick with him, even as everyone ridiculed him. I had to hide from a lot of ppl that i was an Ishant fan even when Faulkner was spanking him all over the park. Eventually it has paid off. And i still want that 400. Keep going on Lambu!
Interesting fact is Now Faulkner is no-where his team but Ishant is still leading the pace of Indian team with bumrah😂. I also really loved his bowling and his attitude but due to his performance I never win a battle against his hater's but right now I am thrashing them on floor 😂😄

You're so right about the mocking part, even if ishant was bowling well, everyone was like 'its ishant, he's gonna be shit next game', but I always felt he was pretty good, with shami, bumrah, Umesh (who's also mocked regularly), ishant's comeback has been amazing. Ishant stock ball used to come in, then he developed the ball that would go away, which made him more lethal. Could you also do a segment on shami, he's brilliant, and his reverse swing capabilities handed india a new weapon in the seam department, but people don't rate him that much

Great content and video. Ishant is truly one of a kind and to see his recent performances in numbers really puts things into perspective. Even today, not everyone (including his own countrymen) believe he is one of the best in the world because the kind of reputation he had few years back. But he is one of the best today, it’s a fact and he earned it.
What a wonderful fucking video. This has to be one of the greatest pieces of content made on a cricketer and I hope Ishant has watched this video and felt massively proud at how persistent and patient he has been and feels lucky that captains came and went but he maintained his place in the team which has paid off dividends. I discovered your channel during this World Cup and it has completely changed my perspective and made me so well-informed and appreciative of all kinds of players. Thank you so much, Jarrod Kimber. You are a boon to the cricket world. Keep doing this for as long as you can because fans like me absolutely live and die for this kind of content. Love this beautiful sport of ours and all the people associated with it. This video made me feel so emotional. I started watching cricket around the time Ishant made his debut and for the longest time, questioned his place in the side. Well, his recent performances are a testament to the great man he is. Hats off to him.
I really enjoyed this video. As a kiwi I completely agree with your comment about Southee. He was treated as the saviour of our bowling lineup when he was 18. We lost a whole swathe of great players and he was heralded as the king of a new generation. Since then we have rebuilt our bowlers and have a fairly formidable and deep lineup in case he doesn't fire. The fact that he Boult and Wagner all have 200+ wickets each is testament to NZ Crickets's persistence and plan. Some say he's past it, maybe, but I think he did his job. Maybe Sharma is the same, India persisted with him because they had to. Zaheer was getting old and there was no one else around. Now they have Shami, Bumrah and a whole host of others tearing teams apart. Sometimes players need to be included just because the team needs them to be, not because they are the spearhead of the attack, or backbone of the batting lineup.
what a fantastic video analysis on Ishant's career graph. it slices and dices numbers and gives you some amazing insights into how an athlete's journey has been in this sport. In cricket, the most demanding role is that of a fast bowler, and being a fast bowler honing his trades on the Indian subcontinent wickets requires you to be cut out of a different cloth. This video is a clear testimony of the fact that he is indeed cut out of a different cloth indeed. Thank you very much, JK for this video.

You are GOAT in terms of Cricket Analysis Mr Jarrod.. 👌👍 You just summarised the whole Indian Asian Fast bowling story of all time in this sort video analysis. Good job. Keep posting good analysis videos. Love it 🙏
This was too good jarrod. Your video essays are way better than any video packages prepared by star, sky or fox. When he conceded 30 runs in the second last over to faulkner in 2013 he was trolled mercilessly throughout those years to having a avg similar to pat cummins now is really a comeback you don't ever see in cricket or in professional sport.
I remember the unlucky Ishant phase. Also, there was a time where he basically had just 1 type of delivery in his arsenal - short and wide. I never expected this turn around. It has been phenomenal. I think everyone in India had given up on him. I think his turn around happened in the county stint in England under Jason Gillespie away from the constant scrutiny from the public.
Hi Jarrod, more great work! Thanks for keeping me sane during my long shifts! I have been thinking about something and thought you'd be well placed to cover it, if you think it's interesting. My question is basically, why don't teams rotate the wicketkeeper in game more? We've seen, and you've covered, that wicket keepers are generally selected more for their batting than keeping, to the point that it seems England almost always have at least 2 players on the field who could play keeper. I think our strongest side might include 2 or 3 potential keepers. We know keeping takes a toll on batting average (Sangakarra for e.g ) and usually means keepers don't bat high in the order to give them a break. Why not simply rotate throughout the day? Give each a session here then the next a session there? I had a look and couldn't see a law against it but maybe I have missed one.
There was a reason he was persisted with. After his initial success he had injuries and his pace which was around the 145-150 mark came down to 130-135. Now batsmen were able to handle his bounce. But what he was good at was bowling long spells from one end without bowling too many bad balls. In fact he was somebody who seemed like bowling well but unable to take wickets. It also helped that India was not overflowing with pace bowling riches. But Dhoni saw him as a bowler who could be relied on to hold up one end. In between he gave a few memorable spells which really helped him cement his Test spot. What has changed in the last few years is his wrist position and his length. Probably as a result of bowling with Shami and not having to play the shorter formats, he subconsciously realised what was missing in his bowling. His seam position is immaculate; he can generate a hint of outswing; his inswingers come in full and hit the pad; his pace is around the higher 130s. It wasn't that that he was a bad bowler before. It's just that experience of 100 tests have helped him become a much better bowler.
Great content. It was an eye opener. I think no one else has presented the statistical side of the game in this way. Of course Ishant was always the underdog many rooted for. One advice regarding the content- some of the slides/transition were too fast to completely understand what was being shown. (Perhaps it was due to time constraints) 👍 Cheers from Nepal
Ishant Sharma is the Emile Heskey of cricket. Having him in a side doesn't make any sense. Yet, he makes important if not lofty contributions whenever he plays.
Of all those beautiful stats you pull out from cricviz Jarrod, I guess you got one slightly wrong. Javagal Srinath was indeed Fast-Fast. May be Fast-faster-fastest of the Indian bowlers
I was watching Ashwin Ishant talk a few days back on Ash TH-cam and he told us there training and all is good but you need to bowl a lot, a lot(more focus). This is true for literally anything in life, I was scared of probability in Maths till the day I decided to practice 1000 qs on it, and to date, I remember prob than any of the other maths chapters.
Absolutely great video! I just back and checked Ishant Sharma has a 49 sr and 32 sr for 2018 and 19! I still remember his first match and the fifer got! Finally we see all the potential and expectations come to fruition. Also curious why do you say Sourav Ganguly's bowling was the greatest thing about him??

Never been a slideshow full of charts so captivating, thank you Jarrod Kimber! You are one of kind in marrying data and storytelling !
What a great video! You’ve earned a new subscriber, sir.
Thanks a ton for this in-depth analysis
It's unfortunate that the pitches are getting too much attention whereas your recent work deserves much more recognition
All the best!
Oooof I found this channel very late, going to binge watch all night!
Great analysis, the best I have ever seen, this is an extremely underrated channel
Gorge yourself
Great content & analysis.. subscribed 👍
I've ssen quite a few videos of you know and i appreciate that how you bring numbers and culture of a country together to stich a real - very real story which not many would know otherwise. Great job ♥
Please do same type of video about T.M Dilshan. Despite scoring less than 3000 runs in first 8 years , He ended his ODI career with place in 10000+ group
Damn , you know more about Ishant than himself. 😂
This was sublime - what a well thought out piece!
You are GOAT in terms of Cricket Analysis Mr Jarrod.. 👌👍
You just summarised the whole Indian Asian Fast bowling story of all time in this sort video analysis.
Good job. Keep posting good analysis videos. Love it 🙏
I’m so amazed with the quality of cricket analysis that are being presented in your videos… Great job mate, continue the good work.
Great video Jarrod!!! So well made. Keep em coming
What a superb content, just brilliant work
This was too good jarrod.
Wow bro! The way you bring facts to light is simply amazing . Point well made 🤘😎
I remember the unlucky Ishant phase.
Your breakdowns and analysis are superb. Thank you for being so passionate about cricket!
Your tribute to chaminda vass on cricketwithballs was one of the best I've seen
This is great analysis and writing.. looking forward to more!
You deserve way more subs for the quality content you are delivering..... keep them coming and they will come in hordes
We're having enough trouble convincing them they should be rotated at all, let alone in game.
Thanks for this. I've never been a fan but this made me realize what a solid workhorse he has been for Indian cricket. I wish he plays for long.
It's just that experience of 100 tests have helped him become a much better bowler.
wow amazed by the video data shown !!
Nice statical analysis and animation
I loved your polite enquires always :)
This is a really wonderful and fun analysis 😁
Great content. It was an eye opener. I think no one else has presented the statistical side of the game in this way.
Of course Ishant was always the underdog many rooted for.
One advice regarding the content- some of the slides/transition were too fast to completely understand what was being shown. (Perhaps it was due to time constraints)
👍 Cheers from Nepal
Ishant Sharma is the Emile Heskey of cricket. Having him in a side doesn't make any sense. Yet, he makes important if not lofty contributions whenever he plays.
Of all those beautiful stats you pull out from cricviz Jarrod, I guess you got one slightly wrong.
Javagal Srinath was indeed Fast-Fast.
May be Fast-faster-fastest of the Indian bowlers
He was not fast fast, he briefly bowled quick. Someone who is fast fast is fast all the way through their career, like Mitchell Johnson.
@@JarrodKimberYT gotcha
I just love your analysis. And your voice too. Great work👏👏👏👏
Wow. Nicely put together
Once again, amazing analysis! Jarrod
Thanks to Aus series, I discovered this channel and now I am a huge fan of Jarrod. Quality analysis always!! Now I listen to the podcasts too.

Great video🔥
Ishant Sharma was a great youngster
The Jadeja video and now Ishant video. Really good content Jarrod. You earned a subscriber.
Thank you for bringing in depth analysis.
Wasn't was what he said man..

because it was. obs
Amazing video. 100 tests is no joke. And this analysis his getting better just shows why he made it to those 💯 tests.
Wow... just WOW!!
I'd pay money to watch such stuff... what great research dude!!!
People used to make memes of him......now his 3 his last 3 years average is just 21........incredible. ..
Wow🥺🥳🥳Jarrod This is one of the best videos I have ever seen
This was fucking amazing
I can watch this video whole day
truly awesome mate
Simply Brilliant!!
Perhaps your finest video yet, @Jarrod. Cheers, mate.
I honestly think he has improved way good after playing county.
