My folks have a bunch of these trees. When they were smaller trees, a police officer asked them about it, and they had to explain that it was a "Marijuannabe" tree, not actually anything shady.
Back in the day Vitex trees might have been considered invasive under the right conditions. Today there are many cultivars that have been bred to be much less aggressive and, in some cases, almost completely pollen free (only nectar producing). If you've ever planted Vitex from seed, you'll see good germination. However not all of the plants will make it to adult hood even when they are lovingly cared for. It is probably better to ask a neighbor for cuttings/rooted cuttings or take cuttings in early spring from existing plants in your landscape for a higher success rate. More mature vitex trees can be pretty expensive. But the good news is Vitex trees grow very quickly under the right conditions. Remember plants focus more on their roots in the fall and wintertime, so even though it might not look like it is growing, it is.
Another cool thing about Vitex trees is the fact that they smell absolutely amazing. So letting them grow into little trees and then mowing your grass makes it smell like chocolate mint.
Here in the Philippines we call it Lagundi it is good for Cough
Looking at the thumbnail for a second there I thought you were growing a Cannabis plant! Lol
😂my thought exactly😅

I would grow this but I don't wanna get raided because my neighbors are nosy and cant tell this isn't cannabis🤣🤣
Sounds good, Thanks!

The drawback is that u will be disappointed at a 12h/12h light cycle.
i love this tree, but why does it grow so wonky? i want a straight trunk. they start out all v's and w's and elbows.
I think bc it’s technically a shrub ….but grows pretty tall if you let it be.
