Given the speed physics, I felt like the racing season was strange.
yeah, very strange choice....but they learn their lesson I guess.
i think a feature that would really make the most significant difference is dynamic sound matching to rpm and engine load like there is in basically all other driving games, instead of just a 10 second loop replaying constantly or the same acceleration sound file playing every time you hit the gas
yes... valid point... sound is something that going down hill from old to new games
@@SD1ONE I remember Mudrunner having this issue too. Not sure about Spintires
@@Profitablius spintires has best sound imo..mudrunner is 2nd & snowrunner and expeditions are worse in terms of sound
Yes and especially when approaching max speed with little load it should slow down in respect to that. I feel it would make driving more dynamic and interesting instead of revving it near max for every second of driving
I think the lack of proper axle collision was did in the purpose. Can you remember Mack Defense in PTS? It has the best axle collision but it ruined this truck because it was getting stuck on every rock or bigger obstacle
yea... the devs just spam huge rocks all over the place. it's too late now to introduce proper axle collision - the game is already filled with unnecessary gigantic rocks. I doubt the devs would go through all the regions again and remove some of these rocks. I really hope they'll stop overusing big rocks in future seasons / games.
That's why it can't be done in existing games but maybe in future game
@@Mr_Dizzlesalso stumps
@@SD1ONE Nope, the rocks and axle-breaking tree branches are here to stay. It's just easier to not have trucks collide with decorations.
Exactly, it would be cool to add accurate collision and add in portal axles as a mod to give clearance
I really wish there was a true manual transmission mode for those who want it
I totally agree with your list, however I would like to also add : SOUND! The truck sounds of these games (especially SnowRunner) are crap! Especially the engine sound is the biggest offender of this. Also, don't get me started with the way SnowRunner raises and lowers the engine volume however it pleases.
I did like the sound of Spintires but it went downhill from there for sure
Some engine sound loops sound bad
visual damage even after repairing the truck is a good thing imo, because If your in the middle of nowhere you wouldn't be able to fix bumpers, body lights and others
As for the first bug that erked me the most, mudrunner/snowrunner needs a proper manual with clutch option like Forza
Focus/Sabre had a user feedback event a while ago and I think that was the #1 issue raised.
I hate when trucks overshift because of that. maybe it can pull up a hill or go through rough terrain on 3rd gear just fine but then the truck overshifts into 4th but don't have enough power for that gear in those conditions, causing it to stall and now you're back at 1st gear again with no speed.
@@FunkyBaconArts Keep on hammering autoshift and it will get there - stay in third.
Another thing to add to the list: Shadow render distance... I hate it so much. It's way too short. What also bothers me is that you can't choose which lights to toggle on / off. It's always all on / off, and if you have more than your stock headlights, you're gonna be blind if you point your light towards snow or reflective metal. Oh and it would be nice to see headlights get a dynamic light option so it can cast shadows.
All valid points and they also applies to all games as well. nice catch
another issue in SR that's not big but worth mentioning, is that yes, going at high speed can damage the suspension, however, its only on paved roads. and this can happen even when you aren't even at top speed.
6:54 If I remember correctly the devs of SpinTires were planning on introducing tracked vehicles but the continous ongoing legal charges prevented them to work on thoes. It's a shame what happened to this game it had a lot of future content planned.
yeah, I always feel bad for Spintires for what happened to it but sooner or later it always happen to games...they start good and after corporater intervention they become a tool for making money.
Tracked vehicles would have made game too easy.
While I think the transmission issue is probably the biggest issue here and honestly the easiest fix without a whole new physics engine which basically means a whole new game one other common problem I have is lighting.
If I pass through to a different map with my lights and beacons on then when I start in the next map I want my settings to stay the same and my lights stay on.
Another problem that just occurred to me is winch distances are not consistent as I can winch to a tree at a greater range than I can winch on to a vehicle. Cranes I should also add are really short ranged but that **might** be balancing maybe.
There are lots of little nitpicks but I still overall enjoy the game.
I like how you could remove tree stumps in the old games and wish I could in Snowrunner sometimes. 😅
great video! Really captures the gripes we all ahve with SR/ MR
Random suspension damage on a visually clear road is what irritates me the most.
Nailed absolutely everything that needs to be said about Snowrunner, I've been a fan of the games ever since Spintires Beta and i feel like snowrunner is my last, physics really tanked after MudRunner, If only the Devs would actually pay attention to things like this to see what the community want rather than keeping to the path they chose for now..
Most unfortunate thing in my opinion is death of Spintires...I mean SR devs clearly has different priority...they want to make a game that is suitable for masses but Spintires was made by different devs & they focus more on their niche instead of chasing over numbers.....If Spintires was alive, it would've been act as alternative to Snowrunner.
Thx for showing the problems in this video 2:56
According to video axle and rock collision made by invisible ledge on frame/body above axle where axle location is.
You can see it observing how springs/leaf springs become less loaded while moving over rocks or other obstacles. So axles are completely transparent for rocks.
Common problem? H has more torque on the wheels than L+/-. In the Expedition it is even more noticeable because the best gearbox there is a highrange gearbox. It only has 2 gears L and H, no more are needed. It burns minimal amounts of fuel.
That's only became a problem because In newer games accessibility to high gear is so easy...It was intentionally hard in old games to make it balanced...Also you need some better alternative when auto transmission is this bad.
When it comes to damage in Snowrunner, what irritates me is that repairing just the body in the garage (if you repaired the damage earlier) is the same price as the entire car. The second thing is that it is impossible to replace the worst tire before it gets flat.
The horrible transmission system keeps me from going back to SR. Why, oh why can't we have a basic manual setup with a clutch and an H-pattern? Most real trucks I've driven have had a gearbox with 3-4 gears, a Lo/HI range selector, a gear splitter and maybe a crawler gear, that's 12-18 different gear ratios. Those wouldn't be too hard to implement even on basic shifter.
I have to slightly disagree on points 3 and 5, though. They might actually be making the game more realistic. A heavy truck with off-road tires at off-road pressures with spring suspension and minimal shock absoption will not and should not handle speeds even a passenger car could. +50mph/80kmh speeds on a bumpy and twisty road is out of the question unless you have a Paris-Dakar Kamaz or similar. The dual-shocks front and rear on those things are just crazy. The poor rpm control due to the transmission issue also makes controlling a slide unnecessarily hard.
You can't drive a tracked vehicle like that over a pile of logs and not expect them to break or get stuck. Even a battle tank might have trouble but these ones are far from it. Of course the steering mechanism is wrong, too.
Those big track failures were terrifyingly violent.
I agree with these.
Though I never even go the chance to try out tracked vehicles, the idea is solid.
I will defend the damage repairs with one point. That is realistic. Fixing bumper damage and ripped plating isn't really feasible out on the field, so it does make realistic sense that only repair stations and the garage fix that. It's annoying, but still.
I fully expected the devs to implement a proper manual transmission and/or fix the auto with Expeditions. Same goes for painfully slow menu scrolling (mainly the tire submenu) and no thumbstick menu navigation support on console.
I always kind of assumed the terrible high speed physics was a tradeoff for good low speed physics. I don't know anything about game design but it feels to me like the devs knew there might be a hardware limitation for excellent all-around physics and this was baked into the engine from the start. I know there are powerful PCs capable of doing this but they'd be limiting their potential player base.
I'm pretty sure modder JohnJohnHotRod said in his first Expeditions mod that the game allows him to turn off visual damage. Just an interesting point. I think the damage is fine in these games. Not great but acceptable. Also potential hardware limitation? SpinTires just turned 10 years old mere days ago, and the Xbox One and PS4 are over 10 years old as well, despite MudRunner releasing in 2017.
I still love these games so much though, I have 241 days (5700hrs!!) in SnowRunner, 57 days in MudRunner, and just 7 so far in Expeditions between my Xbox One I got in 2016 and Series X in 2022.
Love your content on these games. It's always insightful!
i love your games bro❤😊😅
That's why I use logitech G920 with H-shifter in every game of the franchise (in Spintires and Mudrunner you can use it like normal manual gearbox).
About tracked vehicles in spintires you had to have SpintiresPlus (version doesn't matter)
This games had big potential, pitty the developer made it arcade ish af, the weight of the vehicle is somehow not right u always have that LIGHT car feeling, and the bouncing suspension with ice sliding tires.
They somewhat tried to fixed that weight issue in Expedition... so I am hopeful that they'll fix it further in future game
The axle clipping isnt a bug but intetionally as otherwise half the players would cry about it being to hard
There're other ways to make the game easier... some mods gave very good axle collisions and they even drive better than vanilla trucks.
One of the most annoying ones i found is sling shot tree branches.
And the RPM gauge/tach that works backwards in most truck, the faster or higher the engine revs the lower displayed rpm is
branches were not as bad in older games, engine sound was also good in spintires...so thats that
Unfortunately, the RPM gauge/tach in that game does not show the engine revs at all. It is synchronized with fuel consumption, which is a awfully illogical decision.
My no1 problem with the games is that there is no permanent terrain change. That stupid rock that screws you will always respawn at the same place even if you plough it away. Many of these issues can be tracked to wanting to save on memory usage. That's why we have greatly simplified gears too. I recon it was a good choice for the company since they can publish the game on consoles too.
I'm a simple man - I see SD1ONE video, I watch and upvote. Another great video
1. Clutch bumping is mandatory in SR auto. Don't just hit it once, spam that thing (shift for me). Basically it will attempt to downshift, then upshift to he most-appropriate/efficient gear. Hammer it lots, especially uphill to maintain momentum and torque.
2. Axles, looks to me like they don't model it for bulbous differentials as it would make the game essentially unplayable with undercarriage clearance. In other cases where it's just the steering arms/linkages looks like they model a simple angled collision plane underneath. I'm okay with this, although would be cool to have offset diffs actually make a real difference. Pun intended!
3. 'runner has never been about speed. The engine can't handle it as you show here. It would be great if they would revisit the physics model as it currently feels very weird and unstable as soon as you hit 40mph. Because as you know, no modern vehicle _ever_ goes that fast and instantly loses control and crashes when it does...
4. Damage. Yeah I prefer the old model, I hate having the trucks looking wrecked (soviet patina aside). Then again I am that guy who obsessively cleans all his equipment in Farming Simulator.
5. Tracks! Yeah, this has been a bone of contention since day one. Maybe one day we will have them, but won't hold my breath as the physics engine obvious can't handle it. Until then for all your tracking needs I recommend World of Tanks and Sprocket.
Bind the keys to A/R/H and L+/-. It's much better to play than pressing shift. Pressing the A key works better, especially if you move the camera at the same time. I can't play without it anymore.
0:18 I think the auto transmission is more a Pain Mode feature rather than a problem.
7:22 LOL that mod turned Spintires into Death Stranding
I wish we had working windshield wipers
Snow runner problems
1. Tree trunks and roots
2. Rocks respawning on roads
3. High centers in ruts not deforming
4. No manual transmission
These are just a few that piss me off
I can tell you one thing about the games not handeling speed well. The engine is calculating a lot of things at one time to make everything look as realistic as possible but at higher speeds some of these calculations have no reason ti be calculated coz at highers speeds some have nearly to no effect so they could be forgotten. Some calculations could be replaced by less accurate calculations and then improving the fps and graphics and most importantly traction at highers speeds resulting in a more realistic aproach
They should add Jake brakes Jacobs for all heavy machinery It would really improve the game & detail.
The transmission is definitely at the top of my list, but I also feel like weight of vehicle vs firmness of terrain is not factored in. A Chevy pickup should roll across most terrain on the map short of deep wet mud bogs. Large trucks should sink in as they do now. Make the scout vehicles a little more useful for, you know, scouting.
The transmission issue is fixed by spamming SHIFT or LB when climbing a hill it makes the truck downshift, played snowrunner for a whole year without knowing this
It helps, but you still can't choose and hold a gear of your choosing. Like maybe 3rd gear is perfect for going uphill but the games want to keep trying to shift to 4th and make you lose power even with clutch bumping.
I got to the point of not even using automatic transmission anymore, just when I'm going on a clearly straight line.
MY problem with SR is that I can’t play it because my MOZA CRP pedals won’t work. The better more expensive MOZA pedals. But because Moza made them USB only they won’t work in Snowrunner because SR requires them to be plugged into base. Meanwhile any USB peripheral works with Mudrunner, the older game. WTF is up with rage Snowrunner devs?
Consoles is what happened honestly....Mudrunner had Spintires DNA which was originally a PC game & that's why it supported all PC peripherals but SR focuses more on console player, It's also more controller friendly.....That is just my opinion, I could be wrong as well.
Yea wheel support sucks
I think the gearbox issue is the biggest problem with Snowrunner. Also related to poor torque where wheels can't rotate even on what should be a slippery surface.
wooooow the mud at 7:29 😅🤣

I love Japanese Cars!! ❤❤😊😊
Bro, I have a big problem with the gears, in trucks with complete gear when I switch to high after it never returns to auto, it stays only in reverse or high and skips the automatic causing the vehicle to stall😢
That's weird...Do you use some special controller or something, try using regular xbox controller maybe...
@@SD1ONE I use laptop and maybe I think I know why it does this😳
You do know why the Mack Defense truck in Snowrunner sucked ass when it was added right? The devs tried to add actual axle collisions and we've seen the results, axle collisions in any game is always nonexistent for a reason,it turns a fluid smooth experience into one of the worst things ever.
it's because SR terrain is too hard for realism but maybe the next game can have better terrain that's more suitable for realistic axles
@@SD1ONE wrong, it's just as hard on any other offroad sim game which is the main reason why axles have no collision.
Think of it as "why you never have to pull the charging bolt manually when you reload a gun in a game" it's just extra hard gameplay elements that don't compliment the gameplay instead hurt it. So no hopefully not in the future, hopefully it'll never be added.
Option to turn off visual damage would be the best, i for one like that the damaged look is still there, if i do some field repair on a broken suspension i would not take the time to hammer out a dent on the fender until i get home
yeah but dents dont look like dents though
@@SD1ONE yeah the damage visuals can do with a overhaul, but they sould still remain even if I fix the engine
i agree😊
it depends how they implement them...I would suggest adding them as scouts without any trailer support... just like Tuz 420 Tatarin
Second bug... probably they want to somewhat decrease the difficulty lol
I think its due to the fact that debris in these games like rocks, broken trees, etc are solid & can't be broken...so they might get stuck in axle often which would be annying but the thing is some trucks follows strict axle collision while others follows relaxed collision...so It kind of create this inconsistency which I don't think should be in game.
Oh boy, shifts to 1st gives me a headache...
In many situations it could just shift one step down, but nooo, it goes all down to 1st. Than what is even worse, it happens q lot that it keeps it in 1st for a very loooooong period even it can upshift. Because when I manually shifts it to H truck goes faster.
Also annoyed by that speed, no matter are you on asphalt rode, iced or muddy, whenever you go faster than 20 mph vehicle tend to lose control.
The one thing that angers me and Mr Lone Wolf pointed this out too lol is the inability to alter the terrain. Obviously there's limitations in all games but. Why can't I plow and roll snow to compact it or cut down a path through trees that are way too strong and shouldn't stop a even 7 tonne nevermind a 37 tonne Azov Antarctica and thee one thing that drives me crazy!
*The rocks!* those stupid rocks and stones littered all over the place that get stuck under the trucks and lift your wheels off the ground. Why can't I just pick them up or push them off to the side? Why!?
This isn't Minecraft but I would be _more_ than happy if you were able to set a game option to remember all changes made to a map (rolling stones/logs out of the way) where you could put some of the industrial machines to work, instead of everything just resetting.. I wouldn't care what the save game size was, I'd pay it.
Also that scene showing knocking down stumps [7:44] sniff, so many memories patiently cleaning up the log yards with the K700. Good times, good times...
my biggest issue is the sound of the engine while driving, its overlapping, there's no torque, repeated sound every time you shift gear and when you tap the peddle, its like you revving your engine!!!???? arrgghhh
I personally don't expect much investment into the game physics or mechanics of Snowrunner. Whilst I still play the game occasionally, after 1000h I had my good times with the game. It seems to me, that Saber Interactive simply isn't capable of improving the physics, as they have used the same shoddy engine for their newest title Expeditions. Which leads me to my bottom lines that I just hope, that another developer entirely will pick up the torch where Saber Interactive left off. I won't hold my breath anymore and focus on alternatives.
As a matter of fact, I find truck & logistics simulator has good potential and I enjoy it for what it has to offer. It just gets a boring quickly.
I miss manual gearing that you get in spintires and mudrunner even if the manual gearing wasent perfect
to downshift in snowrunner you need to kick cluch when you hear rpm going down.
SnowRunner would be awesome and painful if they added double trailers.
I rarely use auto transmission... mostly on scouts only.. its useless on heavy trucks.. please do a video on best trucks for each region in snowrunner
whats best for one region is mostly best for all
@@SD1ONE Ok thanks👍👍
his main problem is that they forgot the mudrunner because of him
Pit💖✌️
The Visual damage is Ridiculous, take Rear Suspension Damage? Visually damage the front of the truck!
How the Hell does that make Sense?
it's still better than old games where if you take damage or dent on the wooden bed of the vehicle... it counts as overall vehicle damage.
@@SD1ONEyou can repair visual damage in one moment in mudrunner and spintires
These are all features that make the game realistic. These are best features
Axle clipping, uphill issues, lack of traction on MUD tires.😂🙄cmon man
How do I get spin tires? I tried to get the original thru emeba or smth but I just got my money refunded, and it instantly said it couldn’t give me the steam key.
If you are a modder and know what you are doing cdt axles make everything better lol, i have a few amazing rigs that don't clip through shit
Разрабам пофиг, они делают что говорит руководство. А те просто лутают бабки. Пока игру покупают в таком виде, ничего не изменится. А перестанут покупать так они просто её знают имхо
Which truck is that at 0:24?
The auto trans is a joke we need a true shifting manual transmission with gears that make sence. Theres no truck that really drives like a truck. They all sound like rpms are maxed all the time. Thers no run up going through the gears. Most all the trucks act like 3 speeds when u bump shift they shift 1 3 5 at least mudrunner had a manual shifting transmission in hardmode. Even if it was just a 3 speed. I so want my truck to stay in 2nd some times. Several trucks have allmost no speed difference between low+ 1st gear and high. The highway transmission is a joke with game limitations as you cant control trucks in the top gears just so much could be better with just the transmission
using auto in this games is asking for troubles
We definitely need a new developer who can take on this niche market and create something excellent. Snowrunner has failed.
What truck is that at 1:04? Thanks in advance!
Looks like a plad450 but maybe a mod truck because plad450 is 8x8
@@owlliesotsot8820 thought so too but the 6x6 configuration is confusing me
@@Enzoxvx It's Pacific P12.
Dude it’s a game it’s not meant to be pixel perfect with perfect realism that’s just not how it’s going to be
I know that already.....we don't know what devs can & can't do in future games...who knows if they could implement 1 or 2 things from this list, wouldnt that be better for game as well.
Plad review?
Already published, check it on channel.
7:23 dontcha just hate when that happens IRL? So irritating...
5:05 what mod is this car? i need it
use mod for manual shifting!!!
which one?
Is there any snowrunner mod to hide visual damage ?
same question
Hi
No tree stumps?
Tree stumps weren't as big problem in old games...They were breakable
mud runner was great for its time, snow runner is sloppy AF, its just a mere copy paste with little to no changes to game physics. The graphics needs a huge overhaul in consoles. They look like shit
Graphics is shit? Its better than most games. Ofcourse they will reuse game engine in its sequel. Snowrunner is so much better than Mudrunner, hardly copy paste.
@@frankreynolds9930не смеши
Auto transmission is correctly working for heavy duty trucks, because it has the most torque for climb/haul. Axle behaviour? You hated irl-accurate axles on some new trucks and moaned to remove them. Now what?
Because SR is designed in such a way that they won't work realistically but it doesn't mean that it should stay that way for future game as well
7:23 and 7:34 funny moment
Anyone else having problems with graphical bugs such as flickering dirt textures, the appearance of mud pillars and "outlines" around the cone of light from the headlights?
yes that flickering bug has been there for some time now.
