A friend at work brought his Minox 35 GT in to show me. The camera feels so lovely in the hand. I had to get one.I just received it today. I'm gonna shoot with it soon. Thanks for explaining zone focusing. Great video.
They are superb cameras with a great lens. Final shots rival the best Leica or Voightlander has to offer. Also, between the lens shutter allows great flexibility regarding fill flash at higher shutter speeds vs Leica max synch speed of 1/50. Also, Martin you hit on the abiltiy to change the camera shutter speed by adjusting the ISO dial on the bottom. If one wanted a slower speed without increasing f/stop (and the DoF,) just change the ISO or even use a Neutral Density filter. Normally you can easlily get more (or less) than one stop by doing so.
I have the Minox 35 ML a very good Camera with a very good Lens, I used it for travel, family, street and all round Photography, it is a perfect Camera for street Photography, set the aperture and focus distance in advance and when you need it, you can take a shot in less than 2 seconds, that time counts from you get your hand in the pocket until the Camera are back in the pocket !
Sorry I sold mine many years ago. Had a GT and a GT-E. It was very easy to take them to any place where photos were not allowed and get away with it. I also had a Minox 8mm TLX that was fun to use. My only analog cameras left are the Yashica124G Mat that I had since new, and a Rollei GX.

Once again a great video. Since you are a fan of large format camera I wish that once day in your video you try a half frame camera such as the Olympus Pen / Pen S, the size of the camera and the size of the negative would be an interesting comparison with a 4x5. incredible pictures! I just got a hold of this camera and wanted to see how it works im so excited to shoot with it now! you explained everything so well!
Those shots are of a true artist, especially at 17:48. I've just ordered a Minox GT-E, a later version that doesn't have the battery issue of the GT. Searching the Minox shutter problem, I found a post from someone who'd had his Minox fixed by an experienced repair man. The repair man said when a Minox 35 is not being used, take the battery out, and leave the film wound on, ready to fire - although the shutter is electronically timed, it has mechanical parts and these freeze from lack of use. It should also be picked up every few months and a few shots fired off. Possibly good advice for many older cameras? I'm planning to take the GT-E to Nepal trekking, because nearly every shot will be focus to infinity anyway, and walking to altitude 200g weight is much better than 1kg+ of Pentax LX plus a couple of primes!
Another interesting and, yes, inspirational video. In my view, you have an uncanny compositional grasp, finding occasion for an expressive image that others, including myself, would pass by. Hello Martin, what an inspirational video, great job, how a tiny little camera can do a superb job like this? The person that is behind… I have this camera that I started using a week ago because of your video. A quick question, how do you do the post processing? In the darkroom or using software like Lightroom? Thanks in advance.
Hi thanks for explaining your development procedure. Can I ask …do you print from the negative or scan to your computer.? Great images…I have the Minox but have not used it for years. I found adjusting aperture and distance fiddly …being so small
Lovely video Martin, thank you. I recently rediscovered my Minox 35GT in a cupboard. I bought it in the sometime in the nineties, put a couple of rolls through it at the time with very disappointing results, probably because I didn't have a clue what I was doing. (Pre You Tube Days) . Your video has inspired me to give it another go. Thanks for your great explanation and demonstration on how to focus. Just one question if you don't mind. I think i'm using the same film as in your video, Ilford HP5+ 400, did you have it set at 800 on the dial on the bottom of the camera? if so why? Thanks

I've owned a Minox 35GT Martin for about 25years, and the Minotar is a killer lens that puts most 35 mm S.L.R. lenses to shame, but unfortunately, the camera has a terrible reputation for unreliability, although I haven't personally had any problems with mine.
@@martinhensonphotography By the Way -- I have just e-mailed the 'Link' to this Video to most members of Brentwood & District Photographic Club especially the 'Beginners' as it teaches them how to 'SEE' a Good Snap in Grotty Weather -- Keeeep Snapping in 2022 !
Well in theory yes, its an old developer designed for older films which were thicker then todays, I would advice anyone using it not not follow the instructions about no presoak and hardly any agitation. Pre soak, if possible in distilled water then agitation as you find best, I usually do the first for 30sec continues then one every min (applies to both A an B) that works for me, if you don't you run the risk off Bromide drag that will ruin your images
I use to own and run a custom photo lab in California and I had a Pako E6 dip n dunk machine that used B&W developer as one of the steps. Got bromide drag with it sometimes but at Kodak school found out that using a non hardening fixer in that process will allow you to refix the film and remove the streaks… then harden later or in my case after inspection.
Sorry, I had several of these cameras. They’re great and have an excellent lens. My first one was bought when they were still produced. I gave up buying them, because sooner or later, the electronics will break down. Always beyond repair. I found out that they have quite a reputation for breaking down suddenly. Leica had the same issues with their C series. Great mechanics and optics, but terrible electronics. A chapter in Leica’s history that they don’t want to be reminded of.
It’s not the Camera, it is the Person behind the Camera.
Bravo Martin, it was a joyful 35 minutes 💐

Happy New Year, Martin. Always love your videos. The weather looks, to me, very enticing for a walk. Here in Perth, Western Australia it is 37C almost 100F and has been for almost a week.
It is hard to get out in these temperatures and no clouds...
I have a Rollei 35 and would like to get the battery adaptor. Can you recommend one as the one I tried was not any good?
Keep up the good photography.
Saalik
Great video! I also have this Minox 35GT, unfortunately fungus started to appear on the lens. Do you have any idea how to clean the lens? Thanks!
Hello Martin, what an inspirational video, great job, how a tiny little camera can do a superb job like this? The person that is behind… I have this camera that I started using a week ago because of your video. A quick question, how do you do the post processing? In the darkroom or using software like Lightroom? Thanks in advance.
I develop my own negs then scan them, Contrast control in photoshop , thanks
@@martinhensonphotography Thanks a lot for the quick answer.
I think i'm using the same film as in your video, Ilford HP5+ 400, did you have it set at 800 on the dial on the bottom of the camera? if so why? Thanks
Yes I did and needed that iso speed because of the low light I was shooting in
@@martinhensonphotography Thanks Martin, I'll need to do more research and get some more experience.
Another great video Martin, looking to all new adventures, just a question on diafine, doesn't seem to be readily available, any ideas where can purchase some, thankyou and all the best
Its not easy to get hold off, why not try this alternative BelliniFoto Duo-Step ~ B&W Film Developer ~ Liquid Version of Diafine you can buy it from here ntphotoworks.com/product/bellini-duo-step-diafine-film-developer/
@@martinhensonphotography thats great news defo will try this one, thankyou for a you're great videos, you are always inspiring, i wonder which camera will be next, once more thankyou
This is like bob Ross but with more photography
I've owned a Minox 35GT Martin for about 25years, and the Minotar is a killer lens that puts most 35 mm S.L.R. lenses to shame, but unfortunately, the camera has a terrible reputation for unreliability, although I haven't personally had any problems with mine.
I know and heard this a lot, its a shame because its such a nice tiny camera, fingers crossed and hope ours keep going, thank you
Bonjour mon amis quel scanner utilisé vous?
Did you not use that +1 stop exposure compensation for the ones with lots of that White Misty Sky included ?
No Peter on the whole I did not use any compensation on most I think I used it once
@@theoldfilmbloke Thank you Peter, I will snap till I drop
Using Diafine… is it kind of like using stand development?
You can be lucky or not with these cameras, mine I think is around 30 years old and still working OK
Butifull pictures👍🏽
You really have to wonder about the shutter speeds, it couldn't have been too bright, would be nice to have a clue on what speed it chooses.
I think it varied from 1/350 down to 1/30, all shutter speeds are not shown in the viewfinder
