    Glad to see you are still active making videos. I am very impressed with the fine detail of your photos, that's a great lens. I would have liked a comparison with the other Minox 35 models, GT for instance.

      yah it truly is a great camera. You can grab cheap ones on ebay. just make sure that the shutter is working as it should. (that can be kind of a problem with this cam)

    I have a Braun superpaxette that requires no batteries but is essentially the same thing. I love my little paxette! Fits in my pocket and everything, plus the addition of attachable lenses that were so conveniently made to fit m39 screw mount lenses 👀

      If the Minox 35 still works fine you should absolutely do that! it is a super nice camera.

    Nice video, very helpful. So, how do I focus with this camera? Is there a split prism in the viewfinder? Thank you

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for your kind words. As mentioned in the Video, focusing does work only by estimating the distance and then setting the distance on the lens. There are no further help or controll mechanisms. Maybe you use f8 in the beginning. Due to the 35mm lens most parts will be in focus and little errors in focussing are not that visible.

      Yah 😅 i think the correct word would have been "don't force it"? From my perspective (german language) the word violence made sense, but i am not sure if it does for an english native speaker. 🙈

    Hi! unfortunately the battery-adapter you linked is no more available. Do you know if this adapter reduces te voltage to 5,6V or does it work at 6V instead?
    I know I could build a DIY adpater with four 1,5V battery cells folded on plastic tape but I'm not sure if a voltage of 6V would cause any damage to the camera (I own a MINOX 35 EL)

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, sorry for the late answer I had to find my Multi-Meter to measure the power. So the adapter for the Minox 35 is outputting 6.10 Volts. This means you can either build one yourself or you simply use a 6v alkaline battery. Some people have very mixed thoughts about them. Other say, they work less reliable and produce wrong exposures (due to the rapid power drop when they are nearly empty), whilst other people say, that they do not have any problems at all. so Maybe worth a try. :-) i found this here on eBay, they say that their battery outputs 5.6V maybe worth a try? i have not tested it!

    Awesome video, a little bit of constructive criticism, try and stay away from some filler words such as 'and' or 'um/uh'. Also, try and use a spell-checker (@7:34 in your video you misspelled 'cropped' as 'croped'). The production quality on the video is pretty radical though!

    sorry, would you have a link where to buy the battery adapter? thank you

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, sadly at the moment the adapters are not to find that easy anymore. BUT you could try a DIY method (keep in mind that you could destroy the camera if something goes wrong). Some people use a piece of old film to wrap it around 4 batteries (film, because it is stable and has some nice tension) and use some small coins, at the top and bottom, to make contact. You could also use other round metal discs, but they have to conduct electricity so maybe copper coins could be a good thing to use. greetings.

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello! Thank you for the video. I also bought a minox and whenever i get the films scanned, excluding 1-3 pics everything turns out black :(((((( could please give me any tips on taking the pictures?

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is hard to find the problem over the internet. But maybe your lightmeter (the one in the camera) does not work correctly.
      Try to remember the shooting conditions of the images that turned out black and compare them to the good ones, was it lighter or darker? Did you shoot against the sun? And so on. Maybe this helps finding the problem. Greetings.

    • @Wokegooglers
      @Wokegooglers 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a very common problem for Minox! Their electronics go bad over time causing the shutter to not fully close (electro mechanical shutter). There are online DIY guides on how to fix this issue, but if you’re not comfortable doing that, I recommend taking it to a camera shop! Also ask if they could upgrade the electronics to help prevent it from happening again!!

      Hi, i think i replayed to another user on this question. The originals are quite hard to find if not impossible at the moment because Minox does not make them anymore. But there are some third party ones (i do not know how good they are, thats why i do not officially recommend them).

      I had the Minox 35 GL for around 8 months before it broke. I did not need to change the battery in that time. But i think it depends on how much you shoot with it.

      @@RetroPixel_analog How did it break? I found one with the flash for 100 bucks in a shop where I am. Should I not buy it? :/

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      100 is definetly too much for a Minox 35 ! You can get them here for around 39 to 50€ which is like 60$ (rough approximation). The shutter if my minox 35 gl suddenly stoped working and did not close anymore. So i fiddled arround and dropped it. Some parts came loose. Then i tried a self repair...... baad idea. 😅 Maybe it was just an empty battery but i will never know.... :-/ miss that thing it was super handy and offered great quality.

    Is this camera any good

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      heyy if you got the camera in good condition with an accurately working shutter, then it really is a great camera. Sadly, the original minox adapters are no longer produced so you either have to find an alternative or you have to build something by yourself. Sometimes you can be lucky and find one on ebay but people are aware, that they are rare and so the prices are high.

    Hey !
    I know i might be kind of late to the game but i had a question , how do i enable the flash on this camera? Ive been struggling quite a bit after my dad gave me his hold minox 35 GL and i hope someone could help me out ?

    • @RetroPixel_analog
      @RetroPixel_analog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, i only used flash once on my Minox 35 GL and as far as I remember I had to do nothing to make it work. I just removed the plastic cover from the hot shoe mount and put the flash into it. Make sure your flash offers a middle contact otherwise it will not fire.
