What a mind blowing experience to watch her live, she's playing in my town next week I mean, I'm 70, musician painter proud granpa and I've seen big names on stage in my journey, I stopped calling it a long journey cause it seems I got started last night Great reaction, awesome words yo.
This is such a beatiful song as it is with everything she does OMG can someone be that goof? and so fucking insanely cute!!
Peru, Colombia or Brazil? I'm happy that you get a chance to see her live. I've seen you in the comment on every single reaction video's I've seen of her. Greetings from Norway 😊
Hola Idieh....you just can't imagine what's going oin my mind OMG the Sweetiest of the sweet, our Viking Fairy Queen is gonna have some Cebiche in our backyard, hope she loves it and she comes back for more
Saludos de Peru para los Guerreros Noruegos, lo que tendre que hacer despues es darme una vuelta por los fiordos, gracias Maestro Grieg and y txs Aurora!!
Very rarely it happens to Aurora too that she struggles with a song, these 2 quotes might be about the same song, we don't know, but it sounds like a very interesting song if it is:
First quote is from 2016:
"I have a song now that I've been working on since I was 16, but I haven't found the right words to finish it. I know it will be a good song when it's perfect, but I'm just looking for one line in the fourth verse to complete it. And in four years, I haven't found that line yet."
Second quote is from Nov 2022:
"Yes, some songs just ... come out, and some songs takes YEARS to write. I have a song out there I think that has taken me 10 years, this is the longest. It will be on my next album, it has taken SO many years. But finally I've gone through what I wrote about for the first time, so I understand the song more, as from the inside it was easier. So one song for my next album..."
But it is no problem for Aurora if she struggle with 1 or even several songs, because she write so many! Here is a quote from Feb 2019:
"I write all the time, I write on tour. I have a lot of songs, maybe 200."
Imagine how many she has now after 4 years more with Covid lock downs as well.
There are 27 of her unreleased songs available here on YT, and about 75 total titles of unreleased songs (including the 27) that there are evidence for her writing from various sources. And on top of that she has 3 released albums and 2 EPs and singles and colabs etc.
I saw her last year and it was one of the most amazing experiences ever. She is incredible live and I agree its like seeing an old god perform just absolute freedom and love. ❤
I really liked listening you sharing your experience from concert :). And of course reaction too.
And I guess she is very genuine and "into the music". She just transmit emotions and you "believe her" when you listen to her songs. And of course she sing it incredible beautiful too - I also love the tone of her voice :). Add to this great lyrics (sometimes you can call it poetry) etc. :)
Q... what kind of music does Aurora perform?
A. Well, she uses harmony the way the Beatles did. Uses the ambiance of a song the way Pink Floyd did. Writes about subjects and addresses them the way Neil Young and Bob Dylan did. Changes the way she structures a song from her other songs the way Queen and David Bowie did. Has a voice that she uses as an instrument, not just for the lead vocals of a song. Has the ability to do the same song with a band, next day do it accapella. Either alone or with a band, next day do it with a Symphony, then go home and sit at a piano and do it solo. All while making each performance unique and also keeping the feel and message of her song.
A a person, she is just as impressive.
I'm so glad you made this video and shared the Aurora's concert experience. I couldn't go to her concert in Jakarta and I'd imagined it was amazing. Thank you.
It's so nice when people get a chance to go to her shows. She is just amazing live. Not just her singing but her personality and how she connect with everyone in the audience.
She do about 90% of the work on her own. She's a great producer, not just singer and songwriter.
On the latest album her co-producers was mostly Magnus Skylstad. (Her best friend and drummer for 8 years) Other co-producers was Askjell Solstrand, Jamie Hartman, Martin Sjølie and Matias Tellez.
The guitarist you saw in the band is the one you hear on the album. All the other members in the band, except him, was new in the band for her Europe tour last year.
Signing every word you said about her live performance!
Just leaves one speachless.
Discovering Aurora is the greatest experience in my life. I’ve been struggling in life ( very personal issue) as many of us do. Her songs , when she talks in her interviews and the love and care she express to everyone is very pure. Its like God send Aurora to this world to remind us that We Exist for love and only love. You don’t need to have a religion to learn to love. She said “I don’t care who you love as long as you love”. I was at deep depression when I found her or she found me. I hope people who are struggling in life would discover her too. She’s the reason why I keep living. We love Aurora.
I drove 9 1/2 hours each way, walked 6 blocks in the rain to and from my car, pulled over and slept in my car on the way home, and it was worth every bit of it to see her live!
Thanks, I really enjoyed that, especially the concert review. I'm both envious and happy for you!
Based on watching many pro shot and fan videos, that simple stage setup is the norm. Something overly flashy just wouldn't fit her personality and style. Occasionally she'll do a one-off big production thing for a special occasion (TV show or whatever), but her regular tour setup is always pretty simple. One thing that's pretty new is the cordless mic. She's been dragging around a cord for years while dancing, and she finally freed herself to move around without that hindrance.
The guitarist you saw, Fredrik Svabø, did all the guitars on that "The Gods We Can Touch" album. The drummer, however, is new. Her longtime drummer and co-producer, Magnus Skylstad, worked on the album, but has since left the band to do his own thing. He's actually an excellent drummer, but that wasn't his passion. His passion is producing. And yes, Aurora does all her own female backing vocals in studio.
Thanks again and take care! 🤟
Totally agree with all that you have said so far! What I don’t get is why EVERYONE doesn’t already know of her or is familiar with at least one of her songs. The truth is that most people have never heard of her? Weird. I’ve been following her for 4 years now and yes she’s gone from the Enmore Theatre in 2019 to The Opera House + Liberty Hall in Sydney in 2023, quite an achievement with absolutely NO advertising. She’s Earth’s treasure. Glad that you have discovered her!
Aurora co-produced "A Dangerous Thing" with her go-to producer Magnus Skylstad. He has worked with Aurora since 2014 and also performs as drummer, percussionist, and occasional backing vocalist for her live band. Magnus left the band last year I believe, the drummer you saw at the concert is a new member of the band. Aurora has a big say in the production of her music and live shows. Great reaction and thanks for your great opinions of the concert.
As far as I know, she and Magnus still work together, just not on stage anymore.
Great reaction Sir! Love this song and it´s a hard song to sing especially in the end. A total with you on her live. I saw her in Stockholm in August last year and she sing through the roof in every singel song that evening. Love this performer because she have a natural voice that draw you in that no one else could do i todays music. Thanks for your sincere and loveable reaction.
I was at the same show and very pleased it was at the Opera House concert hall. I agree with everything you have said. It was a relatively simple set up and that is all that was needed to showcase her superb crystal clear vocals and her range of graceful through to uninhibited dance moves. What also tops it all off is her quirky humorous monologues with that unaffected humble personality which adds hugely to the positive experience. She is a master of her craft and if not the best, one of the very best out there!
There's a word for the superhuman/angelic talent - and that is "GENIUS".
Gosh, you are lucky to have seen her live! She came to NZ and yet I wasn't able to go to her ah! Beautfiful reaction.
It was a show I will never forget.
Her guitarist is Fredrik Svabø and he has been with her since her second album. He also plays with Thea Wang, her backup singer (and opener), and he also plays with Askjell's band. Aurora scolds him for his work ethic! He and she performed together as an acoustic duo for the Royal Family of Norway and at other venues. I agree, he's not as flashy as some guitarists but he is very amazing and has been able to explore many different arrangements, tempos and even key signatures of the same song with her. The drummer on the album is Magnus; the new drummer - brought on in 2022 when Magnus quit touring and producing Aurora - is a heavy metal drummer with some really exciting ideas - his name is Sigmund Vestrheim and he's frankly a breath of fresh air. Aurora is personally a fan of Gojira and other metal bands so... when she's not an elf she's a proper Viking! // finally - i really appreciate your introductory comments--so much of Aurora only exists on stage, not on a cd!
Quite honestly it was a life changing experience watching her. So many of my standards for greatness have been raised to a new level.
@@PrymalChaos I am permanently housebound due to a severe spinal injury & 70 years old. For context, Spotify told me I listened to 255 new artists last year, and i usually add 3-5 cds or vinyls to my collection every week. Two years ago I discovered the live Aurora youtubes and it absolutely changed me. I was around for Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie and "the great folk scare" of the early 1960s - when (as Aurora has said) musicians were angry and had a message. She is clearly angry (at times) and always has a message. She is an alchemist in her ability to blend beauty and the beast. thanks again for your reaction and note!
Nice one six times last year. Finland, Sweden & Germany festivals this year she feeds the soul
Beautiful reaction, PC! I'm so happy to hear that you got to experience her live. I saw her last November, and I have the exact same takeaways as you have. I also got to see Angelina Jordan in concert last summer, so 2022 was THE musical year for me. Anyhow, I'm always happy to watch your reactions. Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
I’ve seen her live twice now, sadly not at the Opera House. Our Brisbane venues aren’t quite so cool. 😂 But she’s magic to see perform.. regardless of where. She just makes it work. ❤
Subbed, loved your reaction and the fact that you recognize her for the artistic genius that she is. See you on the next Aurora reaction.
Some facts about Aurora:
Astonishingly (at least for me) Aurora doesn't have perfect pitch, but has 'only' relative pitch.
And yes, AFAIK there is only one example ('Everything Matters' featuring Pomme) where Aurora is not singing all female background vocals herself in her studio productions.
Finally at least in one interview she said, that she herself often had the feeling, that she is a vessel of the songs she performs.
I'm very happy for you having been able to have such an amazing experience through that AURORA show! 😊🙏 Like I'd mentioned before: I was so bummed out when I heard she was only coming to Auckland, in terms of NZ shows, and right now I don't really have the money to spend on a concert ticket AND a flight from Wellington. But of course, I remain optimistic that she'll also perform _here_ eventually 😊 And I believe you're spot-on with your impression of her being an Earth Angel who channels the Higher Realms; She'd taught herself as a child to play the piano and never had a vocal lesson, yet her skills in both areas are insane! 🤯 I've not yet heard her sing out of tune either! 🤯
Listening to and watching Aurora is a whole spiritual experience.
Yes yes it was!!!! Best concert of my life!
Ps. Cried the whole time completely lost in the experience, met amazing people and will be on cloud 9 indefinitely.
Did you just start talking about her intuitive melody writing and timbre and intervals???
FINALLY....someone reacting to Aurora videos who knows _music._ The theory and the emotive parts...and how those relate. I love that kind of stuff. I so hope you have WAY more Aurora videos....cuz I'll watch all of them lol.
I certainly don't have enough, that's for sure. The problem is that I know a lot of her material already, so they wouldn't really be reactions...
I’m so glad to see this today. This is one I’ve had on repeat lately. A steady diet of Aurora and Ren is keeping me alive.
You’re right, she is otherworldly; a conduit for the energy, purity, pain, and beauty of the universe. She’s a gift. 🤍
I love this song. Funny thing is something about it reminds me of Dolly Parton. Great review. One of these days I'm going to have to make it to one of her shows. She's brain and ear medicine for me. Oh, loved the Heilung t-shirt too!
And you also asked who produced it. I dont know who exactly was on this concert but her band changed a lot from the start and also lately. For example Magnus left the band to puraue his own way (he was from the very start and they are very close). And he usually co produced songs with her. And yes she is very into coproduce her songs too (but not only he). Other recent (but earlier change) was Silja Sol which was great backup vocalist (but also played instruments). But so far Aurora had always very good band :).
And for this song I just fast found this information:
"Aurora penned the song with Norwegian songwriter and record producer Martin Sjølie. A frequent Sigrid collaborator, Sjølie's credits with the singer-songwriter include "Don't Kill My Vibe" and "Strangers" and "Sucker Punch. He previously worked with Aurora on her 2018 track, "Forgotten Love."
Aurora co-produced "A Dangerous Thing" with her go-to producer Magnus Skylstad. He has worked with Aurora since 2014 and also performs as drummer, percussionist, and occasional backing vocalist for her live band."
And additional info:
"Writer(s):
AURORA
Martin Sjølie
Producer(s):
AURORA
Magnus Skylstad
Martin Sjølie"
She said about song :
"There's a lot of beauty in this world. And there's a lot of ugly. I was surprised to learn how often the ugly is disguised as beauty. How often poison is disguised as wine. And life disguised as death," said Aurora. "And when we learn that what we thought was good for us, is in fact bad for us - even then we tend to go return to it. Because at least it's familiar. And all we ever dream about is home. Seductive, yet destructive. A dangerous thing indeed."
And of course the song is about difficult relationship (in short).
Right? I've never seen a performer who has become so consistently airborne up and down the stage during a song while belting it out perfectly. I so identify with your comment that her unabashed confidence is heartbreaking because not everyone has it. I think she realizes this, and is making it her life's work to try to transmit that confidence and freedom to everyone through her music. She sure does a good job of it, my goodness!
You sir, know your music!! All the attention to detail!
Very nice reaction🤗
There’s no one like Aurora, she’s truly unique, my absolute favourite artist❤️
It must have been amazing watching her concert in the Sidney opera😍😍 Not envious at all😅
I did watch her in 2014, it was before she was known, but I’m so happy I saw her because she’s my soul healer for sure 💕
I actually love the audio version of this song more than her live performances, which doesn’t happen often when it comes to Aurora 👍💕
I recommend watching the documentary “Once Aurora”, it’s very interesting 👍
Could you please react to:
“Soft Universe” live at Nidarosdomen 2017
“Churchyard” live at KEXP Iceland 2018
“Through the eyes of a child” live at Nidarosdomen
“All is soft inside” live at KEXP Iceland 2018
Just let the tears run wild, no need to hold it back. Just let her in ❤
My favorite from tgwct. On point reaction, thank you!
I have no doubt that Aurora works hard in front of her piano at home trying to find the right words and sounds, just like any composer. What amazes me is that she's writing these Leonard Cohen/Joni Mitchell level songs, in English, her second language! Likewise I'm sure she has lots of support in the production and engineering of her music and her sounds from her songwriting team, but I think she has her hands in all parts of the production, and guides it to her own vision. I know her current guitarist, Fredrik Svabø, played on the album. The drummer would have been Magnus Skylstad, but he's not performing live with her right now. I'm not sure about keyboards and synths. I wish she was touring more in North America, especially here in Canada.
Aurora produces and co-produces, and has final decision on all of her work, Magnus has co produced with her her whole career, he was her drummer, until this last year, he has moved on, but was there on the recording of this record.
Please react AURORA Potion for love studio version
Musically this song feels SO MUCH like Sting in a weird way....like late 80s/early 90s post-Police solo Sting.
Like something off Ten Summoners Tale.
I mean....Aurora did cover Fields of Gold on a livestream once....so maybe the similarity was intentional? idk. But certain note and chord choices just feel so similar. Speaking of....I so NEED her to record a full version of Fields of Gold. Look up the small bit she played on that livestream(or was it a TikTok? it's easy to find anyway). And tell me you aren't floored by it....
I would say that I'm floored by everything she does.
😊👍
So many people compare Aurora to a fairy of one kind or another. She really must be a fairy.
It’s the only plausible explanation!
LOve your reaction to the song and even more to her concert in the Opera House. Yes, she is amazingly good in what she does, be it songwriting, arranging and performing. I've followed Aurora since her earliest public work and am so impressed with her and what she does, still down to earth and humble as she is. Btw. have you seen the Haik tv show with her? It is a must, and some even react to it - th-cam.com/video/n_uW-0HDWoc/w-d-xo.html. Also her concert in Nidarosdomen cathedral is an epic experience.
Thanks for the tip Nils!
@@PrymalChaos You're welcome. Both those venues are by NRK - the national tv and usually don't give you any hassle on copyright. concert link - th-cam.com/video/XXVwFvkNTEg/w-d-xo.html
I would like to hear a Johnny Cash cover of this song...
Here are 2 live acoustic versions of A Dangerous Thing: youtu . be / fI5R4CVt_tw
and youtu . be / igUU69mQLWA
I recommend you check out "Everything Matters" live with French singer Pomme on "Rhythm by Modzik".
If Elvis was alive, he would cover this at one of his Vegas shows.
I hope you watch react DEMCHUK 2402 music video thanks bro
