For all of y’all: I took the SAT in August 2017 and I got 1490, 690 reading and 800 math. I know I should be semi-proud of that score, but as an American-Asian, I feel as if this score actually burdens me for it shows that I am stereotypically “good” at math but bad at reading. I dunno for sure though but I don’t feel like this score would actually help me a lot in terms of college admissions? What do y’all think? (I also got 20 on the essay but I still think that colleges would be weary of the 690 reading)
I got the same score! Also Asian-American. 750 - Math and 740 reading. Just make sure to do a few Humanities APs or A-levels. That'll help consolidate you as not the stereotypical all STEM Asian (which I am - lol). Also, schools place more emphasis on your composite score (since that's what influences their exclusivity) rather than breakdown scores.
@James Kim Hey buddy! I actually got the same scores in SAT. I'm from India and have applied to Cornell, Yale, Tufts to name a few (class of 2024). Which Unis did u get into?
I got waitlisted at Williams College. I really like the school. The deadline to respond to the waitlist is May 1, and Williams explicitly says they don't rank students based on when they respond to the waitlist. The other decisions will come around April 1. Should I wait until April 1 and see other decisions, or should I respond to the waitlist now? Note: I am an international student who needs significant financial aid.
If other schools won't affect your response (i.e. this is your top choice) I would respond ASAP. What's more important is a well crafted response or letter than a hasty one, but I have seen students pop off the wait list before the deadline in the past from some schools (which won't happen until you respond). All schools are different though and I can't speak for Williams specifically.
I got waitlisted to one school and of course it had to be my dream school: UCLA. However, I got into Berkeley, but it is just too close to home (20 minutes away) for me to be 100% committed to attending. However, this year the waitlist decreased significantly, 902 (2019) vs. 1,125 (2018) vs. 1,168 (2017).
Hi! I was waitlisted at NYU. NYU asks you to fill out a wait-list form, with a space to write a 'get me off your waitlist letter'. However, on the form, they explicitly ask that you do not send any updated information (letters of recommendation, appeal requests or updated resumes) other than a Final Transcript. Should I, in this case, ask my guidance counsellor to send them an updated transcript, even though it is not my Final Transcript?
Is a get me off your waitlist letter the same as an appeal letter? Basically the same story. BUT you (or someone you trust) should analyze your application and figure out why you were rejected and if you can speak to that reason.
Would talking about my journey into finding my identity as a black women surrounded by Caucasian’s in my gate/AP/honors classes and ultimately being the only African in my friend groups , church, and extra curriculars be a good essay or too cliche ??
Yaz a Daz I know duke had an optional essay about how your race/class/gender/sexuality affected your academics or life up to that point. I think if that affected you, and you write it well and with strength, it would be a great essay :) (especially if you felt it was missing from your original app)

@Baron Artin thank you, I got lucky with waitlists last year cuz a lot of people decided not to go to college during the pandemic. I’m really sorry for your year cuz there are so many new applicants :( I wish u the best, wherever you end up everything is going to be ok.
Can u pls make a video on bullying, racism fee structure, hostel facility, canteen and other necessary things and how it affects an international student
Neeraja Ganugapenta Nah.
Hi can you please do a video on how to successfully appeal after receiving a rejection?
Got waitlisted at UC irvine :(
Did you get in? I just got waitlisted as well.
@@kailaskurup9995 Yeah I got in but I committed to UCSB instead which was a way better decision
@@OscarHernandez-oi4uu damn I got rejected from UCSB. Waiting to here back from UC Davis but I’m rlly scared cus I’m an out of state student and comp sci is impacted for Davis.
@@kailaskurup9995 best of luck !

Just got waitlisted at Harvard and not sure how to feel 😬
I have been waitisted I feel so bad:(((
manifesting to get off CMU waitlist and go there ASAP
I got waitlisted at Boston College and they say that the only new information they consider is your most recent grades. Despite them saying this, do you think I should email them a letter of continued interest?
Would you write all this in a appeal letter ?
I was waitlisted at my dream school and I am trying my best to attend the school of my dreams. No other school I was accepted at fits me as well. I was definitely negligent of a couple aspects of my life/activities that would help "round out" my application, and I want to heighten my chances as much as possible.
Is it a good idea to mention activities/honors that happened before I submitted my application that I did not mention in my original application?
Thanks!!!
I would say to mention them if you think they could enrich your application.
i just got waitlisted by nyu and i feel so indifferent, im staying really optimistic though
what were your stats? I just got waitlisted there too
@@tanvee4661 i didn't submit any standardized testing because of COVID, but I had a few extra-curriculars, honors programs, and an internship on my application, I also studied french for 6 years and have a 3.7 gpa. Sorry for the super late response, but those r my stats :) hbu?
@@alysebaker3830 i didn’t submit testing either, i had a 4.5 gpa, ten extracurriculars in total but i only did some of them for a year, and i think my essays were pretty good but i didn’t put myself into the why nyu essay as much as i should have so i think that’s what got me waitlisted
@@tanvee4661 ur GPA was really good, mine was about 4.4 waited for all four years, what did you apply for??
@@alysebaker3830 i applied for CAS and liberal studies, what about u?
Do you have any sample letters that took off the student from the waitlist?
waitlisted at 2/4 dream schools, 3 more waitlists, i keep on getting waitlisted

Waitlisted at Babson College, anyone have any tips?
I got waitlisted here too rn. What do I do?
Waitlisted to Syracuse Univ, my dream school :(
Do you have to accept a waitlist offer?
I got WL for nursing school, I’m kind of happy bc it’s not a no but I’m not bc my acceptance is based on if people drop out or not😭

Just got waitlisted by UCSC 😭
I should add, it’s also the only university i got accepted too 😭😭😭. Wish me the best guys!
@@epicninjali3640 BROO we’re in the same boat 😭 are you going to submit an appeal?
@@noisyboy7231 Honestly, I wasn’t originally since I was already writing an appeal to another school, but I’m definetely considering it now. My sister got into UC Berkeley from a waitlist like 5 years ago and she didn’t do anything so I’m not sure.
Same it's my dream college, I'm gonna commit to San Jose State but I'll go to UCSC if I get accepted off the waitlist for Economics/Mathematics.
Great vid!
Thanks, Jeremiah!
Waitlisted by UCLA. Just looked through the UCLA 2018 transfer waitlist thread on college confidential, none of them got in... pray for me
I got waitlisted at Bucknell and I really want to get in there. I have already sent a LOCI to the admissions. Is there anything I can do more on that?
Waitlisted for Nursing BSN at WSU in Spokane. In limbo now. High gpa and volunteer experience. My friend was accepted with lower gpa and no volunteer experience. I’m confused.
Sometimes essays matter more than these other factors (volunteer work doesn't add up to much at some schools, also... we discuss that in our Activities Colleges Don't Care About video... to much controversy). Writing a compelling appeal letter is probably your best bet at this point. Good luck!
I just got waitlisted... i called... they told me there was nothing I could do to boost my chances. I treid i called I asked I said i already made the move to the city and everything. They said theres nothing I can do. :( so I cried and said thank you. Told me if I get denied i have to pay the $250.00. Im going to email the admissions office. Said that she has her fingers crossed for me.
Waitlisted for CS major for UCI :< wish me luck

@@Ovalee To you too sir. CS is too impacted rip. Waitlisted UCLA and UCI fml
Should you still send in an essay on why you should be taken off the waitlist even if the school hasn't let you know what forms they want?
Waitlisted at UChicago, praying I get in :/

Hustle Respect dude u said this shit 4 times
Cornell with a 1450 is pretty good tbh. Usually you need atleast a 1520
