Glad that you're back Matt, the cemetery is beautiful but sad, but you always do a good job explaining as much as you can about possible reasons for damages. Keep up the good work, the tree headstones were beautiful and detailed in their design. Have a blessed rest of the week, and Happy Valentine's this week. 😊
Hey Matt! Back in action! Good to see! The gnawing tooth of time.....seen so often in these old cemeteries. And, of course, the Midwestern Winters are not kind. I take comfort in the likelihood that any of the loved ones that buried those with all of those ruined markers are no longer around to see all of the damage. For those of us unrelated to them I think I can safely say for all of us that, ruined or not, they are all very interesting if not fascinating. Another great vid, Matt. Here's hoping you will be racking up some more miles for us soon to get to the always interesting locations you share with us. Welcome back! I missed you! 😎👍👍👍
Matt, great to have you back! What a sweet, sad, forgotten spot. Thank you for sharing it with us. Keep the explorations coming. Be safe. 😊. Geocacher NB
@@539Productions Thanks 🙏! I am in New Orleans. My people are in tombed in a 2 person vault . It is owned by the Catholic Archdiocese and it is a mess ! We go all the time to clean my relatives tomb . One day I will be there and I hope my kids do the same for me!! They say that they are not going to the cemetery??!! It is Lafayette # 1 on Washington Ave. N.O. It is across the street from a famous restaurant. Commanders Palace . As far as I know the last time I was there they had to give me a code to get in a certain gate. They are not letting tourists in right now!! They say that they are fixing it up. But I don’t know 🤷♀️ about that. Well, thanks 🙏 for the text . When are you putting out another video? I know it’s 🥶 cold where you are but I think Winter is over with here ? Keep Warm !!!! 🙂
Hi Matt, It's great to see ya! I can see some of these stones being caused by weather, but some seem to be vandalism as well...i personally can't see what people get out of destroying someone's resting place...have a great day be safe!! ✌️ ❤
I see a lot of the tipped over oblisks. A lot of that seems from frost walking. Do the eventually heave over. All of that cheaper marble that dissolved or fell qpart is due to spawing, ice fracturing. The cheap porous marble will absorb water and when wet and freezes, it basically turns itself into send. I do not so much think of vandalism, but a bad location.
Maybe it’s ice forming between the pieces of the headstone and it’s base, lifting and allowing them to slide off after rod that holds them rusts away? Just a thought.
I’d Love for you to come see cemeteries here in Georgia!! Oconee Hill Cemetery ( church of Chuck ? ) and another guy-can’t remember name but found a graveyard in the trees near an Atlanta highway that were for slaves. Don’t ever like that, but needs to be taken care of
Yeah, I would love to visit Georgia sometime! I wanted to on the alabama trip but didn't get time. Agreed, slavery was a terrible stain on American and world history. I think we owe it to them to upkeep the hallowed ground in which they were laid to rest.
To me it is mostly sad!! 😢 I think it was a combo of flooding, trees falling, & neglect of ppl taking care of before and after. Now in Feb of 2024 and we had inches of rain-enough to exceed our 5 inch deficit and now 13+ plus since 1 week ago. My son in NY had 1 foot of snow and 8 inches of snow prior to the one a week ago.
Yeah, not many get here anymore. There are a few farms down the road but all the surrounding land is owned by a limestone company so almost no traffic comes thru that isn't local. I agree with the assessment, moving water and trees are powerful forces of nature.
Yeah, good eyes! The entire surrounding area is owned by some sort of industrial operation. Limestone, I think, but it's different from a normal quarry...

Hi 👋 Matt ! Yes Missed you!! Ok just looking 👀 at video! LATER 😅!!!
Thanks 🙏 Matt!!!😊
Oh wow this makes me so sad they are all alone and forgotten. I want to go and decorate and make it cheerful
I think the VA gets around from time to time for flag placement but that's about it. It would be nice if more people did!
missed you .. glad to see you back
Thanks, William!
Good to see you back ❤, some how missed the notification for this one
Thank you! All good, I think youtube glitches sometimes and doesn't notify everyone.
This is an old one, unless you put the wrong date in that little notebook Matt!
Wow..that is so sad. That place is in really bad shape😮
Maybe it’s ice forming between the pieces of the headstone and it’s base, lifting and allowing them to slide off after rod that holds them rusts away?
Just a thought.
Yes, I believe you are correct. A lot probably fell over due to natural causes and not because they were pushed or knocked over.
Have missed you 😮
Glad to be back! Not just a break this time, it's going to lead to much bigger and better things!
Did you write 2018 on that due cash?
I saw that too, this may be an older video.

@@539Productions In Georgia, near Athens, called Oconee Hill Cemetery. Sidestep is also uncovering African American graves!! Further South Georgia!!
Could be freezing and thawing tips things too, but candles are real
That's a very good point!
Matt, do you think 🤔 that some of the stones are buried under the ground?
Yeah, seems very likely. This area gets so muddy and flooded that it doesn't take much, especially the heavy stones.
Matt By looking were The Tree's are I would Say Most were Knocked down By the Hands of Humans,
Yeah, good eyes! The entire surrounding area is owned by some sort of industrial operation. Limestone, I think, but it's different from a normal quarry...

Vandalism indeed
