mike15709 that or dice just wants more money. They do sell unlock kits for the weapons. I don't mind the challenge is so much but I don't like content I paid for being blocked
RabidNemo I thought the unlock kits only worked for the base weapons/equipment. Or at least it did back in Bf3.

Every time when I point my LMG up to the sky to the plane, I either picked up by the other snipers or get bombed by those bombers.
Even though I deal certain amount of damage to the planes, those planes can easily fly away with no difficulties and repair.
That's a god damn torture
I just spent 4 hours doing this and didn't get a single kill I really hope they change the assignment because it seems luck based rather than skill

Miika Sallinen I just ended up having my friend land in front of me on Sinai so spent literally 4 hours trying to get it so I don't feel like I'm cheating especially after I did 88 damage and some random pilot killed the plane
dun use aa. some pilots might steer away from you. its the best you shoot the plane when your allies pilot trying to take down the pilot too. That's how i get the first one.

So DICE finally give us support players a decent gun to stand a chance against the Hellrigel but DICE decides to fuck us over with this annoying challenge I've been playing as the support since the game came out you know how many planes I've shot down? FUCKING ZERO! I always shoot at planes just to make them back off but these lmgs aren't ment for taking down planes. They really need to change it to do a certain percentage of damage to planes done, instead of destroying them.

Use the MG15 n.a. suppressive, the BAR storm(AA Sight), and Benet Mercie LMGs to shoot down planes. If you know how to lead your shots that will certainly help. Play on maps that have a lot of planes, such as Sinia desert, Empires Edge, St. Quentin Scar, ect. You will get those kills, keep your eyes on the sky and don't sit out in the open
Tank Dempsey I've been doing that dude I can lead just fine but either some one else kills them or they just fly away and repair.
Unlock the suppressive parabellum first and use that gun to destroy the planes. The parabellum is already a gun on the planes , and if you've been a wingman for a pilot, you know that they destroy other planes

I found that the best ma for this assignment is Monte Grappa. I destroyed two planes and finished of a few mortar air burst kills within the first half. The map is good because both sides have plenty of planes, they usually fly very low and concentrate their attacks on the hillside, plus there's plenty of anti air cannons on the hillside so if you're lucky you'll catch a plane that has already been damaged by a anti air cannon. A way to cheat it is to get a friend to switch teams, then have him land on the edge of the maps. It's a bit shifty, but if your desperate...

I got the 2 planes in less than a day by following fighters with MG. 15 Suppressive. When the plane started smoking I started shooting. Sure it's stealing a kill, but who cares at this point?

Fuck it guys just fucking boost this challenge I'm not putting up with DICE's bull shit I've been playing support since day one I have 16 stars for the Madsen storm, and at least 1 star for every other gun I even unlocked the special Huot varient, I always play the objective always resupply, hell I even bust out the repair tool if I see our tanks are having trouble pushing through. So naturally I'm a little pissed that instead of this challenge having to do with something related to any of that, they decide " Fuck it shoot down two planes with lmgs." Yeah really playing it up to the supports play style guys....

Carlos Mariscal This assignment basically encourages you to waste time and not helping the team...
R&N RailProductions Exactly shooting planes can help deter them but you shouldn't actively waste time trying to destroy them. The challenges should encourage people to play the class as it's meant to like the challenge to unlock the defensive version, 50 repairs and 40 kills with the lewis low eight it encourages support players to help their team out with vehicles and suppress and kill enemies, instead of just running into an objective with the BAR spamming explosives with the crossbow launcher like so many "support" players currently do.
TREE 木 Same here man I've unlocked everything so far legit, but this is bull shit both parts of this challenge don't really help your team out I just sit behind cover spamming the mortar just to get 20 kills with it not helping at all or spend the entire match chasing planes, btw my gt is rsicojack I'm fucking down to just boost this one challenge.

Noone of my friends playing on xbox im back at this game but never concentrate on it , now i want to play it more often, but noone got it and it seems Pilotmains never leave the game trying since 3 days to get 2 planes
1 have a friend .2. Let the friend be on the enemy side. 3. You shoot the plane. Easy
i just got both on my second try.
play on Monte Greppa, airplanes are everywhere and your teammates will most likely shoot them down, fire on the plane even if the pilot leaves, keep shooting it until it blows up, the pilot can leave and you can still get it, i prefer targetting bombers as their pilots tend to exit as soon as they know they're f*cked.
i know i'm 4 years late but for whoever is frustrated trust me it's not as hard as it seems.

That heavily depends on the pilot. At first I thought it was weird that people on the ground so heavily insisted on shooting me with an LMG when they should know that they only draw my attention. Then I turn around and bomb them dead. Every decent pilot is not going to get killed from just LMG's alone making this challange luck based.
Btw, it's kinda hard to kill planes when all they have to do is drive off and repair. Not to mention that the people in fighters typically fight back.
Same with attack planes. I havent even looked into all assignments yet but I did notice that when I'm in a plane, people like to shoot me with their LMG's so I get some distance, find out where it is coming from and then drop some bombs on them.
Finally did it. Camped on Sinai Desert on the rooftops and in the middle of the desert and on the hills with the mg15 suppresive.

I recommend using the Perino.
Decent fire rate, overheats after 60 shots and great accuracy.
Take down the Ilya Muromets, they make easy targets because of their speed. You may only see hitmarkers but it's actually doing some damage to it. (I unlocked the lightweight 14/17 by doing this)

Did IT on Galicia (Conquest)...MG 15 Supressive...25 minutes...i was very lucky... This Map sems to be perfect because you can see the planes all the time... youre Video helped me a lot... Thank you very much!!!
Tbh, what this challenge made me realize. Is that multiple dudes in a single squad lined up with LMGs working as a team....is basically the only effective way to use a long range, high amo LMG in this game in general (not the low magazine ones that might as well be in the SMG group). If you get a sniper to cover you even better.

Thanks for the advice. I thought this would be near impossible but I actually cleared it in two rounds of Conquest. Base maps: St. Quentin Scar & Sinai Desert.
I also reckon Mote Grappa would be good for this too.
**ETA** MG 15 low weight
A tip for the people trying this solo: Play Monte Grappa (try to be italian because the B flag has AA and good cover), get on an AA gun and damage any plane coming in for a straving-run. You have to inflict a big amount of damage and then finish the plane off with your LMG (MG15 Storm worked best for me). You don't even have to desrtoy the plane compleatly, when you disable the plane and it crashes it also counts as destroyed by you.

So, essentially, you could unlock the Suppressive variant of the MG14/17 which should be way easier, then use its scope to down the planes and unlock the Low Weight variant. Seems a bit more doable than then Madsen Trench.
i stayed prone on galcia next to AA gun he shot and i shot and stealing kills
After a lot of frustration, I thought about it and realised Monte Grappa always has planes overhead on D and the altitude of the flag stops them flying too far above. Just joined a few servers till I was on a winning German team where the D flag wasn't going to be contested anytime soon and clocked two slow attack planes in minutes.
Hate this "assignments" just give me the gun I Fucking paid for. This is so random you need to find an awful pilot.
official statement is that "dice is trying to push players into discovering other aspects and ways to play the game". In reality, ppl just get triggered bc its quite random and time consuming for an average player
Crafter they're pushing into playing another game altogether. This is complete luck you could get this on your 100th match or your 10th match. People are just at the spawn trying to do this. No support player is even bothering to shoot anyone anymore.

I stand corrected it's simple. Monte grappa and use the MG15 suppressive and hit the bigger bombers you can do MAJOR damage to them. I mean like 50 in no time and they are so slow they can't do anything about it.

I went on Galicia, played conquest, got in a hole, and used the MG15/NA Suppresive, and sprayed at places coming towards me and my other teammates.

Alright ladies and gents just did the assignment. My experience def the MG15 Suppressive. I did one on Monte Grappa and two back to back on st quentin ( go figure) but go after the bombers. Attack planes will shoot at you and fighters are out of range so quickly. The bomber moves and turns slow. You can do quite a bit of damage too. I waited until it was close to me flying at me. Then when it flys over you it will most likely turn and this is where you can do the most damage. Hope this helps! Message me if you have any questions
So, if the assignment is to destroy two planes, what's stopping people from just spawning into a plane with their friend, landing it, and destroying it?
1. I'm sure you need to get the score for "Vehicle destroyed". Friendly planes don't count even if you get out.
2. People like me that don't have anyone else who plays Battlefield 1 on the platform that I play it on don't have and friends they could pull this off with, and those assignments shouldn't be designed in a way that you literally have to do something as stupid as purposfully spawning in a plane to destroy it instead of PTFO.
I guess I'll just not unlock the gun then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just spent 4 hours trying to unlock it and finally destroyed both planes in the last 30 minutes.... Monte Grappa operation is all I needed.

Tip! Join custom servers where the bullet damage is set to 200%. Took me 10 minutes to bring two planes down ( they were not full health, but the double damage helped a lot )
This is the vilest assignment i've ever had to do. Good video though, hopefully i'll unlock it tomorrow with my mate. We made the mistake of standing on D flag on Monte Grappa cos of the low planes but you just get killed when you're trying. Albion seems a good map for shooting planes because there's loads and if you're far enough off a flag to can flank them and you're far away from any enemies. I didn't get killed much on there but i did waste an hour shooting planes for nothing. It really is a crap assignment and it will probably stay that way unfortunately.
MG15 Suppressed, Ammo Crate, find a nice spot in the outskirts, aim for Bombers and just remember, you get credit if on your screen it says "Vehicle Destroyed" even if there is no pilot kill.
PRO TIP play on monte grappa on conquest, sit on the AA gun on the hill (D objective) and wait for a plane to fly by, shoot it until it’s disabled and immediately hop off and start shooting w ur lmg. It only takes like 3 hits and u get the destroyed points. I got both planes within my first game
Unlock the suppressive variant first and use that to unlock the low weight variant. I've already unlocked the perino low weight and the mg14 suppressive.

Maybe I just got lucky, but I did this in just a few games. Try using the Lewis Gun Low Weight. That worked wonders for me. I didn't shoot at any planes specifically, but at all of them. Get low, and use that bipod to your advantage. REMEMBER YOU DO NOT HAVE TO KILL THE PILOT. YOU ONLY HAVE TO DESTROY THE PLANE. If the pilot bails, keep firing at that plane.
I got both plane kills on the Sinai Desert map very easily, so I would recommend that map on conquest
I was too late to find out that that Burton LMR on incendiary mode can damage planes a lot. The telescopic parabellum isn't that great.
What this assignment should have been is deal a certain amount of damage to airplanes instead of completely destroying 2 planes.
LMG MOUNTED AND LOADED!
The other version of the parabellum is the best to use, It has a high fire rate and decent velocity
As soon as I switched to it I got my 2 plane kills in 3 games of conquest on base game maps
I used the perino lmg and it work for me
had it in about 2-3 rounds.

I've noticed people randomly shooting at me in the planes more. It's actually a good way to balance the gameplay.

I had destroyed a plane before this assignment and destroyed one now, I'm like 'why'?
Because everyone’s using the heavy bomber because of jack frags and the operation campaign is on galcia, it’s the perfect time to get the parabelum, I say use the img suppressive it mg15 suppressive, it worked for me at least
I did this in 4 hours with the MG 15 low weight, put on the AA sights and use the bipod and keep throwing down ammo. I shot at literally every plane but the smaller the better. Just be persistent and you can do it!
I completed this assignment without even knowing it was an assignment. I was tearing into planes on Albion with the support class which I never play. I was only playing as that class to repair the coastal guns. On the other hand I ALWAYS lay into planes on Lupkow Pass. I usually play as medic and I'll pump all 26 rounds of my Selbstadler Marksman into a bomber as it goes overhead D or C. I've taken down a bomber almost by myself by just not letting him repair as he passes back and forth.
Also if you wanted to do this really quickly just sit on an anti air like at G on Sinai desert and soften up the plane with the AA and jump off and hit it with the LMG. It's pretty damn easy, not sure why everyone is crying about it.

Try this I got 3 HEAVY bombers using this: Lewis gun low weight bipod on Galicia since it's mostly open field just keep firing on bomber mostly
What if you landed a plane in the desert or something on Sianai (I know that's spelt wrong but I can't remember how to actually spell it) and then switched teams and shot the landed plane?
using AA to do dmg and when they swoop in to kill the AA gunner finish off with machinegun also worked for me took some trial and error to time switch to machinegun
I'll just use the Sho Sho because it has 37 damage while the rest only have 27 but I don't care if the Sho Sho only have 20 rounds but the 20 rounds mag to me has a slightly faster reload speed
idk if this will help but I destroyed the two planes by playing conquest on monte grappa I climbed to the very top of the church behind A and shot down a fighter and a bomber

Guys, first unlock the mg14 suppressive(50 kill with lewisgun and repairs) and use that. Very effective. Maybe I was lucky but I shot down two fighters in one round with this gun.

Did it quickly with mg na 15 storm and filtered senai desert and Monte grapa for maps
to get a vehicle kill with a K-Bullet for one of the sniper weapon challenges, just shoot at a Mortar Gadget.......... Somehow they are counted as vehicles.
I have an idea. Get into an AA Cannon to get the plane to about 10 HP and then get off it and finish it off with your LMG

I literally completed this challenge the mg15 worked good however the overheating is annoying so tap fire I did it on Sinai Desert was actually really easy
I unlocked the gun with a friend on FAO while he was shooting the AA gun. It took 10 min. Try that

I shot down 2 Bombers on Albion with the Perino Low Weight, & for the 20 mortar airbursts I just did them in a Operations match
Go after bombers. Theyre much bigger, slower targets. Takes alot of bullets but its much more manageable.
For all you people who say it's difficult, it's really not. It took me just two games of Operations on Oil of Empires. My only advice to give is target bombers. Attack planes will fuck you over as soon as you start shooting. Also, don't go for heavy bombers. Unless they are really close, they don't take damage. It's also somewhat luck based. I got the first plane easily, but for the second one, I had two planes get finished off by teammates before I could get them. So it goes.
Does using the mounted LMG on the back of an Attack Plane count?

Monte grappa point 'A' AA weapon up to 80hp damage and then finish it with your mg15. I've destroyed 1plane,after two days... Good luck
I just spend a whole custom game on Sinai trying to destroy two planes. Failed, join the second one and killed two right off the bat!
Took a brake from this game, literally five years, you not getting this anymore. All sweats grab the planes immediately and they don't give you an opportunity to get an LMG kill. Just forget it.

I got 2 today, but for some reason it didn't either the 1st or second one, I'm trying to get the second vehicle destroyed again though, it's a shame, IV got the guns unlocked and even the broken bottle on my old Xbox account, but getting the game on pc, I can't transfer the stuff over.
Does the machine gun in the gunner position of the plane counts? I know that the one you use as the pilot doesn't count.
it doesn't. plane machine gun still counts as plane kill, not lmg

Whenever I do it the pilots manage to move the planes away and then sometimes they will just turn around and shoot and kill me it's like dog fighting but one has the upper-hand
I did this in 15 minutes on galicia 😂😂😂 based on the comments i considered not doing the assignment at all, but glad i'm did. Guess i was just super lucky though
