Yeah it’s interesting because we don’t actually know what was on his mind. It could also just be Joyner’s interpretation of what he’s thinking when he actually just wants to praise.
This is part of the problem with being rich and famous with “poor” friends. They are plenty that are jealous but also there’s the paranoia of thinking everyone is jealous when some people actually aren’t.

The writing is crazy like before Rotimi went on his tirade he said “But listen” then went on to his true thoughts. And when he came back to the actual toast he says “But you my ninja, my brother…”. Just the way it’s written and shot is immaculate!

Joyner just posted that this is actually a promo for a show he and Rotimi want to shoot, but all the streaming services have turned them down. “Can’t use a music video as a promo”. I hope someone takes a chance on them and gets it rolling. No doubt in my mind it’ll be an incredible show!

One thing I took notice of when George said he wouldn’t listen to this on his spare time. It got me wondering why wouldn’t we listen to this on our spare time? Only thing I could think of is we want to hear music that gives us a feeling and we don’t want music where you actually have to sit back and listen to in order to get the message. Attention Span is low. No shot at George he just got me thinking about “music” like this. Case in point Kendrick last album a lot of people feel the same way. They wouldn’t listen on their spare time.

    • @BlackMarq20
      @BlackMarq20 ปีที่แล้ว +4

It’s not necessarily about having a low attention span, certain content/topics are hard to digest over and over on a daily basis. Kendrick’s latest album is like a therapy session, not everybody wants to listen through that everyday. Similar to this style of song.

Yo, I have a different interpretation:
I think the portrayal of the character flops between the REAL FRIEND WHO'S HELD DOWN JOYNER FROM JUMP AND HES THE ONLY REAL ONE LEFT IN JOYNERA LIFE WHO HASNT ACTED ENTITLED TO THE BLESSINGS THAT JOYNER HAS EXPERIENCED, THROUGH HIS OWN HARD WORK, and since the homie the toast, is the LAST REMAINUNG DENUINE DAY ONE in Joyner's life...
Joyner is crippled by the anxiety that EVENTYALLY his homie WILL reveal himself to be a rat like EVERYONE ELSE who has claimed to be a "Real One" eventually revealed themaelves to be, SO...
The song is really an expression of that very human emotion of being suspicious that many so-called "friends" will be fake to your face, and given the body of evidence you collect throughout the multitudinous fallouts we all experience through life, we acquire the wisdom of discerning your REAL family and your CASUAL "friends..."
So, essentially, the cinematography in the video is a visual representation of the human experience of intrapersonal struggle with our inability to accept compliments and appreixiation from our loved ones without our suspicions that theres an ulterior motive behind the showering of love being heaped upon us. Essentially; we tend to reach a point in which our brain has been primed to stop absorbing the praise as genuine, and start anticipating the proverbial, "BUT..." that's so often the penultimate word said before your suspicions are unfortunately confirmed again - that in ACTUALITY those compliments? Love, amd praise arent actually LEGITIMATE, rather they are a rhetorical foot in the door used to exploit your generousity by taken it for granted, taking advantage of it, and finally feeling entitled to it.
This is why the video starts with his best friensa toast declaring "ive never told you this before..." which would prime Anyone, let alone a famius entertainment success - who probably strugglea with "impostser syndrome" and is riddled with anxiety over the fact that everyone in his lofe is juat a shark cirxling him because they smell blood in the water and qanna get "their slice" while the gettin is still good...
THIS IS EZACTLY WHY THE LIGHTING, SETTING, AND TONE of the video change when his friend flips from gratitude to entitlement and resentment...
The reason it reverts back to positivity and love is because the friend actually IS GENUINE and never said amy of the stuff that is spoken during the "DARK" insidious cinematic tone...
Thats just a representation of the paranoia that Joyner is experiencing, waiting for his true friend to finally REVEAL HIMSELF AS A SNAKE, so...
Joyner is essentially still trapped by his fear of what his career expwrience has instilles in him, a default expectation that even the realest around him will eventually turn on him - EVEN WHEN THERES NO EVIDENCE (THE GOOD ONES) HAVE GIVEN HIM TO DISTRUST HIM.
So? The video ends eith love and daps and hugs becauss Joyjer is relieved that tge dreaded "final reveal" of a rat didnt actually come...
    Atleast; not... YET.
Which is why the last frame is of a fed up friend - leading the audience to believe that this "Day One" can feel the constant doubt and distrust of his loyalty radiate off of Joyner, and in spite of all the integrity, gratitude, appreciation, & absolute lack of any entitlement hes shown Joyner, he's quite possibly fed-up with being held at a distance with a vague mistrust that stems, NOT FROM HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH JOYNER, But is unjustifiably miadirected towards him as a result of EVERYONE ELSE in Joyner's life who revealed themselves to be in a snake in the grass...
And, so, after having tols him all the things he genuinely believes about Joyner - i.e. his respect, admiration, and gratitude for Joyner's ability to traverse the trials and tribukation of such a career path, both professionally AND intrapersonally, even after making an effort to finally say allvthe things that they both know to be true, but are generally left unspoken amongst TRUE FRIENDS...
Joyner's reaction is to remain trepidatious and possibly even more suspicious that the final dominio of 'Day Ones' is finally about to fall... AND HIS FRIEND IS NOW EXASPERATED by the fact that after all theze years of being nothing but the most loyal person any friend could wish for - JOYNER STILL DOUBTS HIS MOTIVATIONS.
And, just like so many intrapersonal relationshop dynamics, after feeling like youve gone above and beyond to be the best version of yourEld and treating someone with such appreciation that it SHOULD BE UNSOUBTABLE that youre EVERYTHING that the FAKE ONES could NEVER BE, BUT... Still being seen as NO DIFFERENT than the people who betrayed Joyner...
One might start to believe that theres no reason NOT to become the person Joyner believea youre going to become anyway....

[7]If thou wouldest get a friend, prove him first and be not hasty to credit him.
[8]For some man is a friend for his own occasion, and will not abide in the day of thy trouble.
[9]And there is a friend, who being turned to enmity, and strife will discover thy reproach.
[10]Again, some friend is a companion at the table, and will not continue in the day of thy affliction.
[11]But in thy prosperity he will be as thyself, and will be bold over thy servants.
[12]If thou be brought low, he will be against thee, and will hide himself from thy face.
[13]Separate thyself from thine enemies, and take heed of thy friends.
[14]A faithfull friend is a strong defence: and he that hath found such an one hath found a treasure.

Never posted before but think this new @caskey cleaning out the closet song deserves a listen.

I'm the opposite of you guys. I'm the metal guy. I only know about this channel because of that awesome megadeth video. And i gotta say, Joyner is that crossover artist from the rap world that i can't deny the talent. Especially those remixes of other artists. Amazing new song from him here. This channel is all about this, we all like whats good here, we can recognize real talent here. Talent doesnt have borders. Im a white canadian with scottish parents and im trying to learn rl burnside Mississippi hill country blues on guitar right now. I could meet someone from the other side of the world, not even speak the same language, but if the same tune can make us both tap our feet, then we got something in common. Music is like a big family 🎶 ✌️

That's an interesting idea. Actual known successful rappers going into that Broadway money. We can't have Miranda do everything or people will become bored of him. Good idea. Though Lil D went the TV route. We can't forget the other mediums.
