    I never take corners under 30 miles per hour. Performance tyres, sway bars, a throttle controller and my focused mind are helpful. So far I have only ran over five people and only managed to kill one. Not too bad I reckon.

      +Monster Cuber Just keep practicing! One tip is to look as far ahead as possible up the road. Since we naturally steer towards where we are looking, this will help keep the car straight.

    this video is absolutely right. we should always use the feeding method because we cant know the extend of a curve until we turn through it. if we use the hand over method, halfway through we might lose control, bjt if we use the feeding method we wont lose control.
    but for manuevering, u turn, hairpins, parking, i would suggest to use hand over method.
    if we know the extend of turn-use hand over
    if we dont know(blind curve) use feeding method.

I am a visual learner and my teachers(3 people that teach me how to drive) either verbally or show me how to steer the wheel very fast and I can't see well when I on the passenger side and they don't do the 9-3 o'clock: just like you did. They put one hand in the middle and other hand somewhere else. Beside 2 of them got anger issue. I am still in my teen age, and I get headaches when people yell at me for my wrong doing.

    Hi, I’ve recently started to take lessons and I find it difficult to judge when to steer back after a turn. What advice can you give?

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      To give more time to steer, keep the car speed fairly low - especially on tight turns. With a little help from your instructor, and enough practice it will get easier 👍🏼

    • @MSM4U2POM
      @MSM4U2POM 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Like everything else, practice makes perfect. I'm afraid these things are beyond the power of mere words. No-one can explain how to ride a bicycle; you've just got to do it until you get it right. You'll find that one day you can do it, and then you'll wonder why you found it difficult - just like riding a bike! I know that's not much help, but it really is true.

  • @sedhain_pankaj
    @sedhain_pankaj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The problem for me is left side looks like I am gonna hit that car parked in the left side. But, in reality, if I stop and look outside, there is enough space for a bike to squeeze through.
    However, right side is quite easy to judge as it is close to you. So to stay in middle of lane, I try to allign with the line on my right

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool

    My sister-in-law in England has told me many times where to keep my hands on the wheel and how to "push-pull" the steering wheel in a turn. I explained that in different countries different methods are employed. We (in the USA) are taught to keep your hands at 10 & 2 (based on a clock) and when turning move your hands - hand over hand. If you performed a "push-pull" method in the USA while taking a driving test you would be failed. I think the reasoning for this goes back many years. Steering wheels were much larger in diameter in the 1960's because a lot of the vehicles, back then, did not have power steering and "hand over hand" made it easier to turn the wheel. Now days it is faster to turn by keeping my left hand at 12 o'clock and leave my right hand free. A lot of driving schools are currently teaching this method in the USA. The cars in England are generally much smaller than in the USA and the wheel doesn't need to be turned as far so keeping your right hand at 12 O'clock would make a lot of sense. Not saying one method is better or worse, just different.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We normally suggest feeding the wheel for tight corners, but either technique is fine for the test as long as the car is in full control. Whatever works for you 👍🏼

    I am a new driver, still need to learn a lot more. Can you do a video on backing out of the drive way? Please, thanks.

      Parking on a driveway is very similar to bay parking. We always prefer to reverse onto our drive, as it means we can carefully drive forward off the drive. Either way, have a look at these videos:

      This is our favourite steering technique, but the examiner won’t care how you steer as long as the car is in the correct road position at all times. 👍🏼

    What car do you think would be appropriate for someone who is 5'2 and can barely really see over the dash? Help needed

      We have taught plenty of people that are shorter than you, and there hasn't been any problem with our cars - as long as the drivers seat height adjustment is fully raised. It can lift the seat up about 6 inches so the drivers head is in the same position as anyone else. Why not go to a car showroom and try sitting in a few suitable cars?

    Any bend or junction without running over side walks. Check dash cams or people get dragged out from vehicles. Should also check for pedestrians on right turns.

    Maybe Advance Driving School (ADS) would make another car control Skills especially for Steer,. What i get on this video, the driver technique is rarely do cross arm position on steer.. he usually make a "start" point on 12 o'clock position when he will to turn.. either with his hands,.both to the left or to the right.. it's looks so precisely,. If the road is slightly "bend", he just adjust with a little move on the steer.. it's great to see this tutorial,. 👍

    Holding your steering wheel at 10-and-2 now counts as an automatic fail in my region. New drivers are taught to use 9-and-3 or, more preferably, 4-and-8. I can still hear my instructor driving that into our heads and listing the injuries you could suffer if your airbag is deployed while steering at 10-and-2. Lots of dislocated thumbs and facial injuries.

    • @AdvanceDrivingSchool
      @AdvanceDrivingSchool  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment - although that sounds very harsh! Surely when you steer around even gentle bends your hands will move into the area you speak of? In the UK the examiners aren’t so predictive - all they look for is how well the car is being controlled, and it’s up to the driver to decide their preferred steering technique.

      @@AdvanceDrivingSchool I left the profession in 2011, and if I remember rightly, crossing hands was not authorised by the DSA and TES at that time (as a matter of fact, I think they cautioned against it). Could you please tell me when that advice was changed?
