@@AveryxFGCi hope you talk about how to break the grab based on the animation instead of the hand of the character that mostly every youtuber already said
For the snake edge cancel throw: I use to do the same punish as if I was defending snake edge. You mentioned too the grab comes out slower, so i do a db, ws+2 in the same rythm no matter which move he useing. Great video!
I would literally pay money for guides like these. Please continue this series. I lab characters all the time but it's really difficult for me to find ways to memorize all the weaknesses. Like how you said that the most common Snake Stance moves are sidesteppable to the right expect for fc 1,4 or the grab (which you can just break). That's simple and easy to understand and memorize. Or how you found out that you can both counter the LOW at the end of the string but still easily react to the crouch grab in time. I would spend way too much time figuring shit like this out if I was on my own. It's a big help really so please please continue!
As a drag player, i learned some new stuff from this! Also, @7:37 , this is no longer true after the +frame nerfs on WR2. Since its +4 now instead of +6, you can interrupt the DF2 with 10F jab
yeah the only frame traps that he has are moves 13f or slower, so basically 2 1, 1 2 1, grabs, df1 or df 4. half of those are highs so you can dick jab and it beats every option except df 1 and df 4. honestly i've lost an embarassing amount of times to people who just spam dick jab after wr 2.
Absolutely great video I know realise just how big the nerfs hit Dragunov almost all his “pressure” that used to actually be super scary and kind of broken at times now has clear counter play and ways of beating it almost all of it is just fake pressure I have a question for Dragunov players out there just out of curiosity I didn’t have to deal with Dragunov prepatch since I was still playing tekken 7 at that time but was all of that bullshit plus on block XD that sounds so dumb if that’s true idk how that was a character in the game considered totally normal and balanced
It was! Because of college I dont have the time to put my own matches as Broll, so I grab interesting replays from online! When I saw you grabbed that dragunov like 3 times in the first round I laughed my ass off and had to include it haha
its funny cause as a drag player im already playing as if the opponent knows all this. Thats the fun thing with dragunov. Is it gonna be a big move like wr2 / db3+4 / qcf4 / b1+2 after plus frames? Or just a b4 (or df1) to check if you disrespect the frames? Using it though its minus on block as a pressure tool cause if you press and i happen to continue the string you are fucked. So it doesnt even really matter if the opponent knows this, it actually makes it more fun imo. Cause just abusing the opponents lack of knowledge is boring af.
@@AveryxFGC it does not, if you go and set an eddy bot to ws13 punish, then make it block d2. the framedata shows the first hit's startup frames as 14. and it doesnt punish if you dont want to actually open up the game and test it out, i just posted a quick clip showing exactly that
@@lapirinolaepica1876 interesting! somebody asked if this worked because it is a high, I didnt think that having two active frames would be the reason it wouldnt work lmao
Best option you have to beat the snk stance is to sidestep right db to block it will beat almost everything other than snk2 which almost no one does Also you can hit a i13 move if drag does 21snk4 dont let them get away with this if your playing steve collect that b1!!!
The fact that this immediately segwayed into elaborate frame data where you have to know more about Dragunov than the person playing them, and blunt statements like "You'll just have to take risks" makes me think the problem is moreso Dragunov (and tekkens poor management of negative frames/chip). He shouldn't have a top tier playrate AND winrate, its usually a big sign that a character is nakedly overpowered.
Great video❤I see what ur doing with choosing these popular and strong characters, very smart❤❤Dragunov’s lows aren’t scary or they’re really punishable. These guides are really good and the explanations are clear❤
@@Justlookingaround19 I mean not really haha, He has D2, which we discuss in this video how you can beat every conventional option he has, and DB 3+4, which is a low that gives a huge punish if blocked, and can be trained to react to it. they still can cause problems, but there are def a lot more scary moves in his movelist besides his lows
As a drag main I honestly feel like an overall 15%ish damage reduction would fix him. I don’t see a way of toning down Drag without repeating his T7 crippling. Yes he was oppressive then and oppressive now, but let’s not repeat history by making him mid again compared to the rest of the cast again. I feel like any fixes to the moves itself would change him too much, especially with what A LOT of people are wishing for. Drag is meant to have all around good options, it’s his character trait. If you get rid of more and more of his key moves, it makes him too predictable. He’s a human Swiss army knife, don’t reduce him to just one tool. But also he is a rush down character that is meant to throw a million things at you. Just make it so he has to throw a million things at you for a lot longer not just for a few seconds. I think the main issue is that he kills you in a couple moves, not that he has good moves.
i mean i feel like drag's power level is honestly not that crazy compared to the rest of the cast. he is an oppressive charcter but thats just kind of his playstyle. i feel that he has clear enough weaknesses that playing into him is manageable if you know all the knowledge checks
so even though it recovers in crouch, I believe the game registers this as the animation still going on, and you just punishing it so it doesnt whiff, im unsure 100% the EXACT reason it doesnt, but do know that I did go into the lab JUST to make sure I wasnt crazy, and it does in fact connect still!
can you pls show the cpu frames too next time?you said drag low kick i reactable but not being able to see frames while explaining that very thing is kinda counterintuitive to me
Great video, Dragunov is for sure super linear. The only thing i would say is side walk right whenever he goes into sneak instead of side step, because sneak 2 will clip side step most of the time. Also if you want another way of dealing with d2 pressure, just use your character's 11 frame while rising move, it'll shut down anything he tries doing, it is a worse punish than side stepping and punishing him, but its a braindead easy way of dealing with it. You're 100% right about NEEDING to take risks against Drag, like most of his kit isn't more than -14 besides a few moves, and other than hatchet all the core ones you see Drag players using aren't launch punishable, so it really is on YOU to take risks to win and not the Drag player. Like its crazy how little you get for block punishing him with most characters, and Drag players have no fear of just running offence because of this.
I would respectfully say one thing you said is not great advice above purple. If I'm a drag main, what I do after my d2 purely depends on what YOU do. It's one of my character knowledge checkpoints. If you're throwing out a ws4 on me, you better believe I'm moving and reliably launching you. I believe qcb2 would also launch pretty much any ws4 reaction too. Be careful on doing that one mate. If I'm in a mirror match, it is honestly probably better to respect the d2 despite being at -1 and seeing if the drag has a flow chart on the follow up.
@@mccollio0909i know you can side step ws4 i just wanted to keep it simple considering this video isn't meant for advanced players. Even his advice of side stepping after getting hit by d2 has counterplay so there's no real air tight defense against it unless you're a god and can on reaction block, low parry, or hop kick it consistently.
In Tekken, anything below 22 or 21 frames is nearly impossible to react to, and even 23-frame moves are challenging to respond to. If Jin's Hell Sweep were truly reactable, pro players would be able to consistently perform better than you.
