    In this video, I test fit my new wheel setup for the Accord. This year I’ll be running a square set of 18x9+35 Enkei RPF1’s with 265/40R18 tires, square. Last year I was running staggered which didn’t allow me to fully rotate my tires, so the fronts wore much faster than the rears. This year I can switch them up from front to back.
    So as mentioned in the video, before actually running the new wheel setup on the car and getting them dirty for the first time, I cleaned them up and ceramic coated the painted surfaces to protect the perfect finish on them. If you buy a set of wheels that are brand new, this would be the ideal time to ceramic coat the paint.
    I’ve included the products that I used in the video, down below. Feel free to check them out!!
    Meguiars APC ▶︎ amzn.to/2mDKTQv
    Hog Hair Brush ▶︎ amzn.to/2lLZDsp
    Turtle Wax Tire Shine ▶︎ amzn.to/2lqwJC6
    50 ml Ceramic Paint Coating ▶︎ amzn.to/2m61r0p
    18x9+35 RPF1 Wheels ▶︎ amzn.to/2m8eujH
    235/40R18 Hankook RS3 ▶︎ amzn.to/2mFcRM0
    The link to the tires above was as close as I could find. Mine are 265/40R18, which are 30mm’s wider in section.
    If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email at milanmastracci@gmail.com. Thanks for watching!! :)

    I'm not sure if you planned on using ARP extended wheel studs or something else but 96-97 Acura TL studs fit 8th gen accords. Dorman part # 610-360.1 this will get you 6mm longer studs. Worked great for my 10mm spacers. Some grinding will get them installed without removing the wheels bearings.

    You can still get a nice look with 255 40 18 so you will have more room and not have to roll or pull the front fender as much. If you can get the 265s to work then thats gold. Love the set up, looks better than 19s imho and it will ride better.

    35 off set is the same but the spokes are thicker in proportion to the bigger rim size. Also the wider rim is designed for rear wheels, for a staggered set. Rear wheels have smaller breaks, no problem, but you can't have them as front wheels. Time to get RWD car.

  • @stiliqn007
    @stiliqn007 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Happened to me when I got my 7,5x16 rims. They were hitting the brakes, but I grinded just a bit of the brake frame to make it go by without hitting. If there's still problems, I might go 3mm spacers too

    ran into this same issue on my RSX-- tested my gf's 17x8 and 9 RPF1 in SBC. 9s need AT LEAST 10-15mm for me to fit the Brembo, the 8 clears just fine but is sunkkkk lol.

    Does it mean that you need ET65 wheel to have enough clearance and at the same time push the wheel inside?

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not quite 65, but the higher the offset, the more the wheel will be sucked into the wheel well. On the other hand though, where I ran into a problem is calliper clearance.

    • @christopherpirri7973
      @christopherpirri7973 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You had the wheel where you your old wheel where you wanted it. You new wheel is an inch wider. You should have added 12.5 to the wheel offset. half the added inch of the new wheel. and it would fit in the wheel well and not have to use the spacers.

    wheels look great, how do you feel about flares? against them?

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on the car. Ideally, if you're just looking to make a set of wheel fit because of slight poke, a fender pull & roll should do the trick. But if you're looking to go wide body, they're great. My only thing is if you're going to go wide body, don't go wide body just to fit some 'stance' super wide wheels. I find the point of it is to get more traction, kinda like what I'm doing with the Mini :)

    do you guys think those 5 mm universal spacers (like minute 7:05) are safe? i have 20 mm spacers on back and i need 5 mm for front to sit exactly like the back wheels. so, are they good enough? or should i go for something more expensive. i can buy those with 10 $ both of them.

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally wouldn't use them. I only had them because I was just testing what size spacer I needed. You ideally want a set of hub centric spacers, so the wheel is properly set on the hub.

      Yeah I like the flatter face, but because of it, it doesn't fit like the convex ones

    No disrespect man, but the just put the TSWs back. They made your car look so classy and it was an OEM+ look. Car is gonna drive like crap with spacers and you already have a track car.

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't mind the look of them, but I wanted some change. With the TSW's being 19's with low profile tires, I didn't like the harshness of the ride. So going to an 18" lightweight wheel with some meaty tires, the ride should be awesome. How does spacers affect the drivability of the car?

    • @4G12
      @4G12 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spacers actually affect the suspension geometry of a car, sometimes to quite significant degrees depending on the exact design of the car.
      For instance, for a car with a rear multi-link/wishbone suspension, your effective wheel spring rate would be slightly reduced because of the decrease in motion ratio caused by the wheel being spaced further out, effectively lengthening the lever arm. Of course, the longer the suspension arms, the smaller the effect due to reduced change of lever arm length %.
      For the front suspension, the effects are much more complex. Of course, you still get the reduction in wheel spring stiffness like the rear suspension. Your steering geometry would also be altered, since the more spaced out wheel would increase positive scrub radius (or reduce negative scrub radius if OEM geometry was designed as such). The net effect, assuming the car had +ve scrub radius to start with, would be greater steering feel, at the cost of greater steering effort and greater tendency for single wheel bumps to create steering kickback.
      Conclusion? I would only use spacers if forced to do so to solve clearance issues or to deliberately increase scrub radius for a car that could benefit overall from such a steering geometry change.
      All that said, I am glad you went for a much more functional set of wheels that would actually improve overall performance, improving both handling and comfort. I am not a fan of ridiculously oversized rims with rubber band tires. Suspension requires compliance to generate grip, especially on the less than perfectly smooth terrain in real world conditions.

    Double stacks of "loose" spacers is the worst thing you can do. Especially without extended lugs. I have had three friends, all had the spacers crack and wheels fallen off. Please get 10 mil bolt on spacers before you lose a wheel.
