Finally…common sense about jumpsuits….yes, they’re cute, but definitely not anywhere you may need to use the restroom! I try to dress on a plane as though I may have to exit down the emergency chute. You want closed toed shoes, natural fabrics, etc. You also need to think about and unexpected layover. An outfit that works for a 1-2 hour flight may be awful if you have to sit in an airport all day. As soon as you greet the flight attendants, they are evaluating you. If the flight is overbooked you could be moved up to business or first class if you look and act like you belong there.
Lived in New York and worked in Manhattan for many years. Your comment of women at the airport wearing sneakers brought me back to the 70’s. My “commuting shoes” to and from work were sneakers. No way to survive the subway rush, the street ground metal grills and the rushing and the running except with wearing comfortable sneakers. To this day, this is the Big Apple’s “statement wardrobe piece” of the NYC working women. At the office, kept 3 pairs of high heel shoes (black/brown/navy) to change to. Come quitting time, it was back to the sneakers and shoes back into the bottom of the desk drawer. This “fashion” has endured throughout the years. Still today, NYC streets are filled with professional women wearing business suit and their trusted companion - a pair of sneakers. Your comment brought memories and smiles to my face. (Forgot: we also kept hosiery in our desk drawers - companies required women to wear hose as part of their dress code). Thanks for the memories! ❤ Sonia - California
Great video with lots of terrific suggestions. I always wear Tencel joggers (with pockets) on flights. Super comfy, wrinkle-free, can be dressed up at destination, etc. Wide-leg pants and maxi-dresses can drag on the floor when sitting at the gate and on the plane. That’s the same gross floor we avoided in bare feet when going thru security. Wet areas (yes, even body fluids) on aircraft are “cleaned up” with absorbent powders so residue remains and I don’t want my clothes to touch those surfaces. Not to mention dealing with all that fabric in public restrooms. I’ll stick to elastic around my ankles to make it easier to avoid potential yuk.
I agree 100% with all the outfits you’ve chosen for travel. I would wear (and have worn!) every choice you showcased. Even though I’m older (64), I find your content fun and refreshing, and I relate to all of your fun videos! Thank you for all your hard work and your outstanding content. ❤️
Good advise with the exception of the maxi dress that can drag on the floor when you are sited, touch the gross lavatory floor when using the toilet and can easily get caught on things as you walk down the aisle in the plane.
I have my travel uniform. Quick dry yoga pants that look like nice black pants. A black lightweight utility jacket. A colorful tank top. 2 things that learned to never wear traveling. Dress of any length. I was in a car accident hanging upside down for over an hour while they cut out. So glad my panties weren’t showing. And flip-flops in the winter. Came back from Cancun to 2 1/2 feet of snow and I had to walk a half a mile to home I’m running to Walmart to get those shoes. Thanks for all your suggestions
Ok that's a pretty extreme reason not to wear a dress but I can definitely understand why you would feel that way. That must have been an absolutely terrifying experience!! Glad you are all right!!
Perfect timing for me as we have a road trip in a couple of weeks. Thank you! Lots of great ideas. I ordered the maxi dress in the store last week as my regular size was too long. I wanted the option of wearing it with flats or sneakers. I love the look of maxi dresses but I find them hard to find at 5’2” and being curvy but this one seemed to work. It will work well for work too.
I clicked on this SO fast! There is definitely a need for travel outfit videos. I will be traveling to Europe from California next summer - total flight with layover will be 15 to 17 hours. I will need to be comfortable, but do not want to look like a slob 😬
Thank you for this video! I haven't flown in 4 yrs! You are so helpful in knowing what to wear. My daughter is getting married in October at a venue in the desert of LV!!
I can totally relate about not wanting anything touching me or vice versa during airline travel. I also hate taking my shoes off going through TSA!! Thanks for these tips!
Heading to Ireland in October, definitely wearing zip-up boots I can hike in and take on off/easy, breathable lulu wundertrain leggings, and layers of warm clothes that are bulky to save space in my carry on/duffel I’m traveling with for 10 days. And my trusty Rothy’s if the boots get too warm, they are so comfy and washable!
I do not want any parts of my body touching any part of the seat. I totally agree. Travelling is rather dirty. !! I found some nice active wear matching pieces from Old Navy. A lot of the items come in petite and talls also. Some of the jackets that match the bottoms have hoods on them. Nice for a cool airplane.
My favorite travel pants are from Athleta, the Trekkie joggers. They are comfortable for plane travel, don’t wrinkle, and can be worn very casual or slightly less so. The Brooklyn pants are great too if you want something more dressy. In black they both travel well and can be worn multiple times. Add a similar color tank top and you have your first jumpsuit! And it may be me, but the thought of a maxi dress in a plane bathroom is killing me 😂😂. Germaphobe here, give me jogger bottoms please!
Great ideas for a range of options! Gotta thank you for a previous recommendation- the Apple Watch! It’s now part of my daily wear, and will come on our next cruise in 2 weeks. And Nars light reflecting foundation in Yukon, also coming along as my only foundation. My travel outfit has narrowed down over the years to the following: Leather loafers in black for slip on ease that stay on while I run to the gate, thin black socks. So agree about socks. We have TSA precheck but not all airports do that so shoes come off. I want to try those loafers you mentioned. Black fairly dressy pants from LLBean- the “perfect fit”- a knit that holds its shape, looks dressy and has a comfy elastic waist. I have recurring diverticulitis attacks and bloating is a trigger. That elastic accommodates everything. I’m going to try those Tencel pants you mentioned. Black rayon dressy knit tank top that can be easily washed in an airport sink, semi dry under the hand dryer and put back on. Coffee spills are no problem. Silk scarf for colour, print & warmth around my neck. Functions as an upscale bib for meals in flight. Pearl stud earrings. These & the silk scarf make Dh & I upgrade ready. Bumps up the outfit. Scarf helps hide my RFID neck pouch with my passport and TSA precheck (NEXXUS here in 🇨🇦). I slip that down my front after security. Black thin merino cardigan for warmth but it’s thin so I can shove it in my purse as needed, and a large soft cashmere scarf that doubles as a shawl and even a blanket. Longchamps Le Pliage black purse aka my black hole where I shove my tsa liquid allowance baggie, the cashmere scarf, silk scarf and cardigan if I need to strip down. It also holds my travel mini X body purse by Baggalini that doubles as a fanny pack with all my essentials. It’s RFID blocking too. I can pull it out after security and wear it hands free in the airport. Back in my le Pliage Longchamps bag as I board so I remain dressy enough for possible upgrades into business class.
I soooo needed this! So many share ideas of what to wear out and about, but not actually what to wear on the plane for comfort and style. Thank you, Marnie!💕
I bought outfit #1 (jumpsuit) and I absolutely LOVE it. Nice and lightweight. I purchased the same color (dark blue) and I love that as well. Thank you!
Loved all your travel looks. I’m one that travels in sneakers. Find it most comfortable. Leggings , a white shirt and lightweight jacket are currently my favorites. Might have to give the dress a try.
The joggers and soft layers are a wonderful idea! I often wear soft jeans and a denim jacket on flights. The jacket is comfortable to me, has pockets and folds up small in my under the seat bag if necessary. I once left my nicely broken in denim jacket at an airport. No doubt someone else is enjoying it now. I was not a happy flyer 😢. I’m guilty of slip on tennis shoes too 🤷🏻♀️ The long dress is pretty but a hard no for most forms of travel.
Hi Marnie, My favorite travel outfit was the classic influencer with the denim jacket. All the outfits were good options too. Do you have a Talbot's in San Antonio? I walked into one in my local downtown and they were having an amazing sale- 60% off plus another 15% off. I bought some lovely sweaters for fall and winter and also a little black dress. Thanks so much for the outfit ideas for plane, or car travel. Have a fun week! xoxo, Karen
Thanks Marnie, great tips, husband and I are headed to Hawaii in October ( first time) I’m expecting it to be cold and rainy here in Michigan I will definitely need layers ☔️🍂🏝
I swear by black yoga pants with a slight flare for long plane or car rides…I have slip on sketcher sneakers called D’Lites in black but they come in white and gray colors too. Usually throw a baggy tee or oversized blouse, or a blazer over a tee. Easy, stretchy and sleek.
I appreciate that all your pant options are short or tight at the ankle, critical for keeping pant cuffs off the floor in airplane bathrooms. A maxi dress is also easier to keep off an airplane bathroom floor than loose ankled pants. And for some women who choose to dress what's called, "modestly", it may be the only option.
Aaahhh! Marnie, I’m a neat freak and feel just like you on airplanes! Barely fly anymore. I have NO CLUE what happens to those seats between flights. 😫 I’d like to wear those paper jumpsuits over my clothes, including a HOOD! LOL! (Take it off and throw it away.)
I love those pink loafers and I just ordered a pair. I just wish they came in half sizes. The back of the loafer is also great because when driving the back of the shoe won't get ruined. I like to wear a dress when traveling on a plane because it looks nice and is comfortable. I am so tired of seeing travelers in sloppy clothes. I even saw a young man in a bright yellow bathrobe. I don't care that it was Louis Vuitton, he looked ridiculous! 💛💛💛
My favorite flight pants are a pair of drawstring cargo Bugle Boy jeans (remember that brand?) I have had close to 30 years! I wish I would have kept the khaki pair. Layers, for sure, either a cardigan or zip up hoodie. I cannot do a dress unless with leggings underneath. I have nicer wide leg sweats and joggers I like to wear. Vans or tennis shoes.
Very good channel. The loafer is out of stock. Just my opinion, I like all natural clothes. They are so much cooler . A lot of the TH-cam videos on style also recommends them also. Like silk, linen , cotton and if one buys them in classic styles they will last a lifetime.
I am new to your channel I’m so glad I found it for her lots of reasons we do travel and fly a lot I just bought at your suggestions leggings that are cuffed. I’ve never owned a pair of those. We flying to Europe so an 11 hour flight Florida is are going to be so super comfortable thanks for the tip
Loved this! I only travel with a carry-on - even to Moscow in winter for 2 weeks😅 I travel stand-by often, so it's got to all be in that carry-on. Great outfits- I'm trying to find the actual/similar blazer you have. I like blazers to be lined. So cute!
Great video! Now that you are back traveling (me too!) would you consider a "what's in my bag" video? Meaning not what's in your suitcase, but your handbag/travel bag!
I’ve done quite a few-the problem is I don’t really change what’s inside-so if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all! I do have a new bag coming in September-maybe I’ll do it then!
I have an oversized denim jacket from Madewell that I got on clearance at Saks Not on Fifth… love it. Also, I have to wear close toed shoes for work and no heels so I have become the queen of pairing cute outfits with some type of sneakers. Could you do a video on how to pair different types of denim with shoes and tops, like how to wear a wide leg denim or a flare bottom? Thank you for your content!
Loving all the tips for traveling! These are all helpful. The point about jumpsuit is the best! Actually, it is inconvenient anywhere but it's so cute not to wear. :D Anyway, Have you tried using a duffle bag for your travel? I recommend using the Bento Bag from Nomad Lane. I've been using this bag for months now and it is such a hack. It has a trolley sleeve feature and it fits under the seat too! makes your travel more convenient and effortless and it packs like a suitcase too!
I am traveling to New Zealand in February. The outfit challenge is leaving from a very cold climate (WA) and landing in a summery, warm climate. The flight is 12 hours+ total, so sitting has to be comfortable. What I have in mind right now is a light t-shirt, shacket over that, and leggings or joggers. Footwear would start as slip on sneakers and bringing flip-flops in my carry on for when we land. Do you have any other suggestions?
I don’t know why everyone makes such a big deal about what to wear while flying. I personally like to wear nice clothes. When I was little people did wear nicer and better clothes. I do Not like wearing baggy jackets and clothes. I do not wear leggings. They are tight and uncomfortable. I like wearing tailored pants or a nice dress so that when I get off the plane I arrive in style.
I absolutely agree, even prior to Covid, I would always travel with my body completely covered up. I felt grossed out if any body part touched the seats 😬😬. It a me thing…. Love your channel. ❤
Love those loafers, but they do not seem to come in a 5 or 5.5. :( I love these ideas as I am always so uncomfortable when I travel 😂 I laughed a bit at the sneakers thing in airports. I never wear sneakers unless I’m working out, but know they are so much more practical traveling. I just need to get over needing to be dressed up all the time, and get more comfortable being casual 😂
Yes! No parts of my body touching an airplane seat...ever! We fly, but jumpsuits are a definite NO...who wants to strip in the tiny bathroom? Love the idea of a maxi dress, but I really love the "sweater" outfit you showed in another video...great for travel!
Hey Darling .. love your travel clothes videos, however I am of "certain age" AND do feel the heat ( i live in southern Australia so not as hot as up north) but still feel the HEAT .. so closed in sneakers are really uncomfortable, even with socks, and when I get on board an international flight, I dont want to 'smell out' my fellow travellers. I find the Sketchers wedges , soooo comfortable and give me that little bit of height 6cm height .. 6-7 cms ... possibly 2-3 inches height , easy to wear but give you a bit of height and are COMFORTABLE .. but the best your feet dont smell!!! and they are easy to put back when flight arrives ... so may be give us an alternative to sneakers and socks !!!
I’m all-in with the no skin touching public places, and as soon as possible, we launder what was worn, or put the clothes in a clean trash bag until they are washed. 🤷♀️
Almost 100 dollars for leggings! WOW! Walmart and Target have almost the same as a cheaper price. If flying- no-no wearing white and never wear a maxi dress that brushes on the airplane floor! Marnie-I do love your videos, but honey, this one- not so great
Finally…common sense about jumpsuits….yes, they’re cute, but definitely not anywhere you may need to use the restroom! I try to dress on a plane as though I may have to exit down the emergency chute. Those are great tips-I usually only fly Southwest so no options for upgrades there!
Good to know!
DING. DING. DING 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Upgrades don’t happen anymore.

But wouldn't you be lifting up the dress around your waist before using the loo???
Hi Marnie. Thanks so much for all of the great ravel ideas. I too will be travelling in a few weeks, for a weekend wedding. So helpful. Thanks!

HI Marnie, your makeup looks fabulous today! Thanks for all you do - I so appreciate your style of communication, as well as, well, lol, you're style!
I can totally relate about not wanting anything touching me or vice versa during airline travel. I also hate taking my shoes off going through TSA!! Thanks for these tips!
Thanks for the recommendation about Rails. I just snatched one at DFWH for under $10. Very soft and well constructed.
Heading to Ireland in October, definitely wearing zip-up boots I can hike in and take on off/easy, breathable lulu wundertrain leggings, and layers of warm clothes that are bulky to save space in my carry on/duffel I’m traveling with for 10 days. I purchased the two set from Amazon in dark green. Absolutely beautiful. Great recommendation for an airport outfit. Perfect!
I’m seriously thinking about the jeans! They look very comfortable and polished at the same time!
Hey there, I would love for you to do a luggage video. I need to replace the bag I use for a several day trip.
I bought outfit #1 (jumpsuit) and I absolutely LOVE it. Nice and lightweight. I purchased the same color (dark blue) and I love that as well. Thank you!
So cool you’re adding travel videos. Thank you. 💕
Glad you like them! I've done quite a few over the years!
I love the maxi dress idea. So comfortable!
It really is!
I can relate. I don't like any body part touching the seat @ the movie theater so I always wear pants or jeans!
Loved all your travel looks. I’m one that travels in sneakers. Find it most comfortable. Leggings , a white shirt and lightweight jacket are currently my favorites. Might have to give the dress a try.
Great ideas and I would add, maxi skirts are also so comfy, just like the dress
Thank you so much for these great tips!! We are traveling soon such great ideas.

Just bought the dress. Wow chicos has petites. Had no idea. So excited to get a maxi dress and not have to hem it. Thank you. 💕
They have petites and often tall sizes also! I guess that's an important sizing thing to know!
Thanks Marnie, great tips, husband and I are headed to Hawaii in October ( first time) I’m expecting it to be cold and rainy here in Michigan
I will definitely need layers ☔️🍂🏝
This is very helpful 👍❤️ Thank you for taking the time to take some of the stress out of travel ✈️😖
Love your travel outfit Ideas 💡 I love jeans 👖 always!!

Love this video and I think I’m the only dense one on here, but I can’t find the link for the two pieces for the jumpsuit look. Can you help me?
Aaahhh! Marnie, I’m a neat freak and feel just like you on airplanes! Barely fly anymore. I have NO CLUE what happens to those seats between flights. 😫
I’d like to wear those paper jumpsuits over my clothes, including a HOOD! LOL! (Take it off and throw it away.)
I love those pink loafers and I just ordered a pair. I just wish they came in half sizes. The back of the loafer is also great because when driving the back of the shoe won't get ruined. Yes- remember when we used to dress up for flying?! I still go mid-way since I got trained with a dress code for flying stand-by😊
My favorite flight pants are a pair of drawstring cargo Bugle Boy jeans (remember that brand?) I have had close to 30 years! I wish I would have kept the khaki pair. Layers, for sure, either a cardigan or zip up hoodie. I cannot do a dress unless with leggings underneath. I have nicer wide leg sweats and joggers I like to wear. Vans or tennis shoes.
Loved all these ideas! I am also looking for an oversized denim jacket so I can't wait to see what you find!
Wonderful suggestions (and style). Thanks for sharing.
Can you please do an updated travel video????? Most of these items are sold out! Love the tennies with built in height!!!!
Great ideas! And practical!
So cute!
I love to travel wearing Pajama Jeans with a drawstring.
@@MsGoldgirl thank you!!!
That's a great request! I did do one a little while ago on how to wear straight leg jeans here: th-cam.com/video/kgMCEt8elFk/w-d-xo.html
I love this. Thanks for the travel tips!
Great video!! These outfits all seem great for travel. Perfect. ✔️

What size do you wear in the Rails Hunter plaid shirt?
When I travel by plane, i base my outfit choice on if there was an emergency landing. What should I wear to be able to easily escape and survive.
Great recommendations! Thank you! Where in WI did you go? I’m from Appleton, WI 😊
Great video idea Marnie!
Glad you liked it!!
Love your watch strap maybe u can share the link too ❤😊
Great info flying out to Florida never knew what to where on the plane. Thank you 😊🌺🌺
Glad it was helpful!
No white shirts or pants for travel because they are stain magnets, hello, coffee spills!
have you ever looked at scot e vest?
No?
I also avoid my skin touching surfaces. Even my clothes touching public places, unless necessary. 🤷🏻♀️
Hi Marnie, great ideas. I love those shoes, however all the reviews state they ran small, did you find that to be true?
Which shoes?
A maxi dress loses it's appeal as soon as you have to use the airplane toilet.
I love your ideas for what to wear on the plane except the dress. I do love to have myself well covered not touching the seat and so forth.
HI! What size did you order in the J Crew Cashmere Cardigan?
Small and it’s a bit too big TBH.
I really like the boots but you were not specific where you found them and the link doesnt work :(
Are there links to these things?
Yes…
My Jaw hit the floor when you said you only packed a carry on!!!😮 😲THAT needs to be your next video!! I Just CAN'T Do it!!! HELP!!! 🙄🙄
The thought of a jumpsuit traveling on a plane makes my skin crawl. I suppose the women who wear them have never been to the restroom.
I’ve done it-it’s not awful but it’s not ideal either.
I enjoy your videos, but many of your styles are not so flattering. The billowy look adds visual pounds.
All great…u til maxi dress due to visions of it dragging on airport/airplane floors. Yikes!
You can buy an ankle length maxi dress
I’m all-in with the no skin touching public places, and as soon as possible, we launder what was worn, or put the clothes in a clean trash bag until they are washed. 🤷♀️
Just wear what is Comfortable to you ✈️
I'd never wear white when traveling. Any spils will show.
Sneakers are bulky so great for wearing at the airport, not packing.
Watch tips from a pilots wife on long jackets. She got good logic against them.
Beautiful
Thank you!
Can you make a video with that makeup
Hi I'm new Subscriber
Hi! Welcome!
Ur so pretty
All old people clothes
Seems like you don’t wear sneakers much in the travel outfits
Almost 100 dollars for leggings! WOW! Walmart and Target have almost the same as a cheaper price. If flying- no-no wearing white and never wear a maxi dress that brushes on the airplane floor! Marnie-I do love your videos, but honey, this one- not so great
My maxi dress never hits the floor-unlike your pants when you sit to use the restroom.
Not flattering at all, no thanks!
Oh my goodness… like so many ads! I realize it helps the channel but when is it so annoying you can’t even !
A bit daggy and boganish look
All great outfits!
