Thats a mighty big job you're doing and you're doing great. I know Mark would be proud. Be safe and remember that you are carrying The Worlds Greatest Hobo. There are many grateful folks I'm sure.
I enjoyed your video of sprinkling HOBO Shoestring's ashes. This video with beautiful scenes on your journey reminded me of Shoestring's videos which is what I enjoyed so much, seeing places I will never get to see as I will be 80 June 1. I enjoyed him telling so many stories. I am missing him so much, but may get to meet him when I pass over to meet Jesus.
I love your extensive knowledge of railroad history, I hope you never stop riding until you have to. Be safe, and God Rest our man Shoestring. Though he went West and you went East, you'll still meet somewhere in-between, someday.
Shoestring said it took 10 years to figure out what rail lines to hop. I’m sure he was laughing when you started going east. 😂. God bless you for doing that.
I could tell in his videos that Shoestring thought the world of you and Matt. What a great way to honor his friendship. Than you for sharing this with us, brought tears to my eyes. New subscriber here.......
What a beautiful video and tribute to Mark. Troy, this is your best video yet. You took time for narration and explaining things along the way. I really enjoyed the scenery you included. This is what I hope your channel will become❤️❤️❤️

Well I learned something. I didn't know he had a son. What happened to his son? Do you know?? What I do know is he did NOT want to be cremated. I know for a fact he didn't. He mentioned being buried several times in different videos but not once cremated. I definitely think he would have wanted to be buried by his son in Alaska or anywhere in Alaska for that matter. His relatives oh I'm sorry " family" is nothing but a POS!! I don't need anybody to tell me!! His sister sure was quick to jump on the bank wagon but YET barely spoke to him. I guess God forbid HOW dare they be related to someone who is an alcoholic 🙄 But since the damage is done I agree. He'd want his ashes scattered in Alaska by his son or if I couldn't do that and it had anything to do with me, I'd lie to the family, make them think I was scattering his ashes one place but I'd head to Utqiahvik If I had the means because only way in or out is by plane and only at certain times and it's not cheap I understand this dude is just doing what the family told him and as I stated in my comments to him I don't blame him for that
This is all new to me. Got Shoestring's channel today. Actually, most of the day. I watched your time with him. Amazing. I'm 73. As a child, we lived on the west side of Route 51 the train tracks going north and south was was on the other side of the road. I remember guys coming to our house asking for food or coffee. My mother would make fried egg sandwiches and fill up a guart canning jar with coffee. I imagine our house was known as a safe place to ask for food or drink. I have looked back many times thinking what a wonderful thing. All people were welcome. My parents were a great influence on me. I missed Shoestring while he was making his videos. In a way he lives on in you. That inspires me. Thank you.
Bro thank you so much for sharing this with us. Came across shoe string on TH-cam one day and caught my interest instantly. Know nothing about riding or trains but learned a lot from that man. This is super cool man so glad to be a part of this on the viewing end RIH shoestring. YOU WILL DEFINITELY BE MISS BROTHER
Whatever you do in life. Please always just keep on being you, brother! You're a genuine good soul. A genuine, true friend both in life as well as death. I can only hope to find and have a friend such as you before I catch the westbound. Thank you for doing this for Shoestring. He's a true legend that meant so much to so many of us. Beautiful video Troy. Such a loving tribute to Shoestring. I very much know that Mark would approve. I love that you filmed this how Mark would have. I felt like I was riding with you and dear Shoestring. Bittersweet seeing you spread his ashes on the tracks. Mark was a close friend and I miss him so. But it brought a smile to my face seeing you honor Mark's memory. Spreading his ashes in places and on the rails that he truly loved. God bless you always brother Troy. Prayers for your safety and prayers that the Lord brings comfort to your grieving heart.
This my first ride with you and it was great! Unfortunately I didn’t know who you were until a few weeks ago. A few years ago, before I started watching Shoestring, if I ever saw someone riding on a freight train, like that guy in the van, I definitely would have tried to call it in to somebody because “OMG that is so dangerous!” I learned a lot from Shoestring over the years and about how many people are actually doing this. Yes it’s dangerous, but nothing to call in. Like him, I’d wave, hope for the best for the traveler and go about my day. Safe travels to you and Mark!
Can't say that I didn't shed a tear or two when you were scattering his ashes.. Mark truly loved riding those rails, and without him the world seems a bit more lonely.. Thank you for taking us along Troy.. And stay safe in your journey my friend.. RIP SHOESTRING..
Thanks for doing this. I guess I can say my final goodbye to Shoestring. He would like the thought of his ashes spread all around his paths. Now he is riding the rails for eternity. Goodbye Mark, I am sure you will rest peacefully .
I was telling my railsafe trainer about you the other day and how even though I don’t personally know you I know your a great guy…he was happy to hear you don’t go live on tik tok while riding to not encourage others to do what you do and was saddened to hear about shoestring…keep on rocking brotha there’s a lot of us that enjoy your adventures 👊👊👊👊

I'm sorry about your friend. You're a good guy for doing this tribute to Shoestring. And I appreciate being able to go along for part of the ride. Honestly, his ashes (ALL of them) should be scattered on the Dalton Highway in Alaska. He LOVED Alaska. No matter what was happening, no matter what part, that's where he was the happiest!! And it was all he talked about every chance he got. Alaska
What im doing are in the wishes of his family. I may make my way up to Alaska next year to put some there. I cant plan things given my lifestyle however
@AnywhereManHobo I get it. I know you're just doing what his family wants. It's on them not you. They are NOT doing anything he wants. I didn't know him personally. I just watched his videos like most people. But I know there's at least one video where he mentions where he wanted to be BURIED, not cremated! But of course the so called money hungry family that barely knew him are going to go with cremation because it's way cheaper! Sorry not sorry, I just don't have nothing for his " family ". When someone rarely goes around their blood relatives, there's usually a reason for it. I'm just going to stop right there.
Thats a mighty big job you're doing and you're doing great. I know Mark would be proud. Be safe and remember that you are carrying The Worlds Greatest Hobo. There are many grateful folks I'm sure.

@AnywhereManHobo Man, I can’t tell you how very cool this is….Shoestring is surely proud. What an awesome sendoff! ❤️🚂💔
Shoestring knew the whole US rail system, probably better than anyone that works for the railroad. He knew every turn where it went.
Learned a lot from him. My favorite episode was his impromptu ride to Alaska in freezing weather, what a character.
I got one word for this video. Absolutely awesome. Thank you so much.be safe n be blessed. 🙏♥️🐕
I have to believe that there are some crews that are proud to be part of Shoestrings Ride West.... Thanks for all you do, ride safe!
Good
