he is from derby (city). which is located in the East Midlands, not East Derbyshire, all of Derbyshire is East Midlands. definitely not cockney, more northern sounding. he is classic derby accent which like the cockneys drop letters in words, like 'wri er ' for writer, missing out the t. we drop 't' s regular so can see why you could confuse it in that aspect.
