Both games in the series have smashing soundtracks. The first game has a slightly stronger soundtrack but you can't go wrong with either one. They're underappreciated gems.
Maybe one day we'll get a rerelease of the Baten Kaitos duology; when Monolith Soft decides to take a break from Xenoblade... In like, 30 years.
But yeah, the osts for these two games are so good. Not just the abundant battle themes to pick from, but just the fantastical songs you hear in each area you visit.

OH HELL YEAH!!! Now this is a banger. I'm telling you, Every time I play a game that has Motoi Sakuraba as the composer of it, I always look forward to the battle music.
Right now I'm playing through Tales of the abyss, And the battle music just makes the fights better. My favorites so far are "Bloodthirsty fang" And "Awkward justice". Now this was a fantastic request! Same goes for the video of course.

This is the music used during fights against bosses that are the result of science experiments (gone right and wrong) on chunklets of an evil god (kinda like in FFVII with Jenova... but only in a really broad sense), so your analysis of the title works well!
There are a few boss themes in the game, and this one isn't even for the biggest bads! It's for the recurring miniboss squad (except Giacomo... he gets a new version of the song used for his miniboss squad in the 1st game, the gloriously eccentric Chaotic Dance).
I never played Baten Kaitos Origins, just the original. But the composer of a lot of the music does have a very unique and recognizable sound. Generally it won't take long before you recognize something is made by this person if you're familiar with a few songs.

This song appears, iirc, on the fight against each Machina Vanguard Member that are destroying nations enviourment, those fights taking place after the first encounter, since the character is too weak to fight them in the moment they first appears and the "tension" and plot points are already on the table.

Day 89 of requesting House of Sacred Remains from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. Beautifully atmospheric track and one of my fave's from video games in general. It'd be awesome to hear what you think of it.
It's the theme of a level set starting from a cathedral and ending in the crypts through lots of library areas, it's not a particularly significant or infamous level at all but I think the track really reflects the hallowed grounds housing sacred relics beautifully.
The 4 minute upload from the Castlevania Sound Team is the one to listen to.
