Great advice, as always. We always shop in the two supermarkets in Playa Honda although there are two fabulous vegetable shops in Tias - along with one of the best cafe/bakeries. Also I’ve bought my last two leather wallets from the market in Playa Blanca. The first one lasted for years and the second one is still going strong!
Good information Mike, always wondered why clothing in shops like Zara was so much more expensive here in Ireland. Any information on the perfume shops in Puerto del Carmen?
Hi mike there was a time when me and my family holidayed in lanzarote wed see fantastic artistic plates for your wall..we buy some stuff and strugle getting them home..a few years ago the airline has gone from 25 kilo to just 10kilo case..because if the weight restrictions..were terrified to buy any stuff to bring home to ireland...i see something i love it then i think abd am really sad because i remember we cant bring it home..theyv got very restrictive...😢 thanks mike for all the information ..cheers colette in trim
All the airlines will let you either pay to increase the weight limit, or add another hold suitcase, if you spot something you really want to take home.
Hi Mike thanks for the information. On our last Visit we just managed to catch the opening night of Art Tequise that opened in PB at the new shops under the Bercelo we bought 2 lovely metal pieces of art work. Would you be able to give details of when and where the regular markets are as I find it hard to get that information locally. Thanks
I bought a flying dumbo toy in Playa Blanca in a large souvenir shop on promenade. Got it home and wouldnt work despite effort to make it go. Now hangs in summerhouse as ornament!😢
Being a seasoned visitor i am aware of the Looky Looky men. I always stay in old town and there is a regular man who always recognizes us. I always buy one thing off him per trip never pay more than 5 euros and he knows now. He is always polite and throughout the stay we have a bit of banter and he makes me laugh. However, and i havent seen them the last 2 times i have been, is the deaf people who come round and they sell bits of tat. I was told they are not really deaf . What do you know about this, as i have given a small amount of cash to them in the past.
Slightly unrelated but do you happen to know why it's impossible to get a bank account here without a monthly salary or pension. We had planned on early retirement and living off savings pending pension age but this scenario seems to be inexplicably uncatered for
Love the mercadona, we were at an airbnb in Arrecife and used it a lot !

We tend to use Fund Grube. All genuine stuff, and reasonably priced.

Personally, I wouldn’t buy anything being sold on the street or in bars and restaurants.

Hi Alison. I wasn’t aware that was an issue. Which banks have you tried here?
We've had this from Santander and BBVA. It seems to be a common thing for all the "big" banks
@@alisoncarr6961 Try Banco Sabadell and La Caixa too. But go in to visit the branches so you can explain your situation.
@@LanzaroteInformation Thanks Mike, we tried in branch on both but they just weren't interested at all.
@@alisoncarr6961 Call in to Sabadell in Costa Teguise and ask for David Sanchez. Maybe he can help.
